CHAPTER THREE

"Henry, I don't know if you have issues with your brian, I'm sorry for using the word. But you obviously don't sound okay. I don't know you, the only time we met was four years ago, and we both patted ways after signing the marriage contract", Maria said.

"How come I don't remember any of that?" Henry asked Maria.

"Because you were more drunk than I was. You probably don't remember things you do after getting drunk, as for me I do, and I still don't understand why you keep saying I'm your wife, the mother of your son. I don't know you", Maria insisted.

"Maria I'm so sorry that we had issues, that had probably led to your running away and pretending not to know me, but I'm sorry. I'm ready to make things right. You know, when you left me, I had thought I would die, and had barely survived till today. I can't loose you the second time", Henry pleaded going on his knees.

"I'm not pretending Henry, can't you see it? I don't know you", Maria said soberly. She was almost moved to tears.

Maria was so sure that she doesn't know Henry, Henry on the other hand was so sure that he knew her and she was the mother of his son that had disappeared four years ago.

Henry had searched for Mary all over and had relocated to a new town after searching all over the place for her. Now that he had finally found her, she was denying not to be the one he married.

On the other hand, Maria had lived and grown with her parents, and although she had a minor amnesia four years ago, her family and friends were there to put her through her past life, and getting married or giving birth wasn't part of it.

"I'll give you what you want. It's just my signature on the divorce papers right? Since you said you are not Mary, then it's fine. I won't force you to agree to it", Henry said.

"Thank you", Maria replied coldly.

"I love you Mary", Henry said, but noticing the disgusted expression on Maria's face, he decided to take it back immediately. "I mean, you are welcome ma_"

"Maria", Sylvia and Maria said in unison helping him complete the statement.

"We will be on our way now, I hope you can make out time to talk to my lawyer tomorrow", Maria said standing up to her feet. Sylvia also stood up to her feet and took Maria's hands in hers.

Henry stood up as well, his eyes were red and bulged. It seemed as if he was going to cry, but doing everything possible to hold the tears back.

"You made a promise to our s_" Henry was saying but then paused. "You made a promise to my son Dylan", Henry said.

"I'm not his mother, he wants to see his mother right? Find an excuse and tell him I left. I can't raise the poor boy's hope up, it'd be unfair. Also don't let him call me that in public place, he'd only ruin my reputation", Maria warned strictly and began walking away to her car, together with Sylvia.

They got in and drove off, while Henry stood at the spot letting his tears drop freely from his eyes.

Henry wondered if Mary was still mad at him over the little issues they had before she gave birth. He blamed her all along for dragging their innocent child into their mess, and leaving him without a mother to breast feed and raise him.

He couldn't believe that such petty issue would drive her away, leaving their son behind and even now she still didn't care about him. Although he was a little bit mad at her back then, he still thanked God she didn't leave with the kid, and he was no longer mad at her.

Maria and Sylvia drove home, with Sylvia taking the stiring and Maria seated beside her. The car was awfully quiet. Nobody was ready to start a conversation, so none of them said a word to each other.

They were trying to process what had happened in their heads.

After a very long drive, they finally got home,  alighted from the car and walked straight into Maria's room.

"Maria", Sylvia called drawing closer to her. "You seem really bothered".

"Shouldn't I? Do you think that man is just a psycho?" Maria asked Sylvia.  "As for me, I think there is more to what he had said".

"Don't tell me you believe that mad man?" Sylvia asked Maria staring at her in disbelief.

"Of course not. But I know there is no smoke without fire. I want to get to the root of the whole thing, I want to know why he keeps insisting I'm his wife. I looked him directly in the eyes and he seemed so sure about what he was talking about, the love in his eyes when he spoke to me is something I can't explain", Maria narrated.

"I don't think that lunatic has anything on you. I mean, someone that doesn't even remember the event that took place in his drunk state", Sylvia defended.

"I just hope this wouldn't get to my parents or Fred".

Sylvia hugged Maria and caressed her back until she fell asleep.

Sylvia also was in a state of shock, she tried to process what just happened in her head, she couldn't help but wonder what was going on. She felt so much pity for Maria seeing that the whole issue was messing her up. Sylvia hoped that the divorce would be successful,  and everything would finally be over so that Maria would get married to Fred.

Sylvia caressed Maria's hair as she slept. She also was about dozing off when she heard a knock on the door.  She stood up from the bed, slammed her feet on the floor twice before proceeding towards the door.

She opened the door and sighted Clara standing behind the door.

"Dinner is ready, and their is a special guest at the dining table with mummy and daddy. Where is Maria? She is needed urgently at the dining table", Clara informed.

Sylvia quickly checked her time, it's been almost two hours since they returned and they didn't even notice. Also they had spent almost seven hours away from home. Including their journey to and from Henry's House.

Sylvia walked up to the bed and tapped Maria calmly.

"You are needed urgently at the dining table", Sylvia informed Maria who jumped down from the bed on hearing that.

"How did I fall asleep?" She asked and quickly rushed to the restroom to wash her hands and face.

Maria doesn't dare miss dinner with her parents, else they'd make a fuss about it.

Sylvia and Maria began walking downstairs. On getting to the dinning, they sighted guest seated at the dining table their eyes and mouth went wide open and they exchanged glances immediately.

"And you think that this is the best place to hide? Is this the best way to behave when your sister is rotting behind bars? Why are you so inconsiderate Maria? Or you want your parents to come here and gundown everyone because of you? I guess that is the only time you would learn."Maria shook her head continously, as her mom spoke. Mercy didn't bother to look down at her. She kept a straight face, and kept her gaze fixed on the food she was about to eat. "Mom, please. I do not want to mar
