CHAPTER TWO

Maria got home devastated.

"Clara", she called in a loud tone.

"Yes ma", Clara replied as she rushed to the well furnished sitting room to take Maria's hand bag. "You are welcome ma", she greeted Maria.

"After dropping my bag, prepare me a very chilled orange juice, I need to calm my system down", Maria ordered Clara before leaving for her room.

Clara walked ahead of her and dropped her bag in her room, she walked out of the room towards the kitchen to prepare her cold orange juice. After preparing the juice, she added a few pieces of ice in it before leaving for Maria's room.

On her way to Maria's room, she heard a knock on the door and decided to attend to the visitor first. She walked towards the door and opened it to find Sylvia, Maria's friend standing outside the door.

"Where is Maria?" Silvia asked.

"She is in her room, come with me", Clara replied and took Sylvia to Maria's room. She handed the glass of juice to Maria and made to leave but Maria stopped her.

"Get something for Sylvia", Maria said to Clara.

"Do not bother the poor kid dear, I will be fine", Sylvia said and Clara left.

"Silvia I am in a big mess", Maria said placing the juice on the table.

"What is the matter?" Sylvia asked her.

"After the accident four years ago that caused my memory. After you and Fred narrated how I left the house angrily with Cynthia and had crashed the car causing to her death and my loss of memory. I was devastated and decided to go drink my pain away, I mistakenly married this Henry guy.  I had thought it was just a paper signature, only to realise the marriage is valid after going to the court to get certificate for I and Fred", Maria narrated to Sylvia.

"Jeez! This is really creepy. How are you going to get out of this?" Sylvia asked.

"I don't know. Fred would be back in a week and I need to prepare everything for our wedding before he comes back. I need to divorce Henry before Fred comes back, because if he finds out or my parents do I am done for", Maria sobbed.

"Everything would be fine honey", Sylvia said hugging her.

"Why not approach this Henry guy and get divorced as soon as possible?" Sylvia suggested.

"I tried, I have but that guy is a psychopath who poses as a danger in my life. Imagine he kissed me at our first meeting, I don't think I would want to meet with him alone", Maria replied.

"Don't worry Maria,  I would come with you. First thing tomorrow morning we would pay him a visit and talk him into signing the divorce papers, it wouldn't be so difficult", Sylvia assured Maria.

Next day

(Henry's garden)

Maria and Sylvia are seated in the garden of Henry's mansion waiting patiently for him to join them. His servants appeared with a glass of whine, served them and left the premises.

"Mom", Maria and Sylvia heard a little boy scream, they were just about to settle down with the drink.  They both raised their head at the same time to see a cute slightly chubby little boy running towards them.

"Mom!" He exclaimed excitedly and jumps on Maria. "Where have you been mom?" He asked still tightly held up around her. She found him cute, so it was difficult for her to push him away.

Maria and Sylvia exchanged surprised glances.

"I have missed you so much mom", he said pulling away from her.

Just then, Henry walked into the garden, sighting him Dylan rushed towards him excitedly and jumped on him.

"Daddy, daddy come over and kiss mummy.  I'm sure you have missed her so much as well", Dylan said dragging Henry towards Maria.

"I told you he is psycho, but I never knew his son is too", Maria whispered to Sylvia.

"Mom, have you come to stay forever?" Dylan asked Maria, taking a seat on the bench beside her and making his dad seat beside him.

"Now I am in-between mummy and daddy", he said excitedly.

Maria felt bad for the little boy, she didn't know how best to tell him that she wasn't his mom. She also wondered what gave him the impression that she is his mom.

"Are you not happy to see me mummy?" Dylan asked Maria.

"Of course I am. I'm just surprised that you know me", Maria replied with a smile.

"Dad drew me a picture of you, I always spoke to the picture and ask that you return home, now you are here", Dylan said.

Maria felt pity for the little boy who have been misled into believing that she is his mom, simply because she mistakenly got married to his dad in a drunk state.

"Can we talk alone?" Maria asked Henry. "I mean, without the kid", she added quickly.

"Sure, okay", Henry replied. He turned to Dylan and carried him down from the chair where he sat. "Go up stairs, tell Lisa to make you some cookies and serve you with ice-cream,  I'll join you soon", Henry said to him.

"Will you come with mummy?" Dylan asked soberly.

"That question would be left for your mummy to answer", Henry replied and turned to face Maria, exposing his thirty two.

She was mad at Henry for putting her in such a tight corner, she stared at him with a scorn and rolled her eyes on him. She turned to Dylan forcing a smile.

"Go on in okay? As long as you behave yourself I'll come in with daddy", she promised although she knew it was a lie.

"Yay!" He exclaimed excitedly and ran off.

"Mary", Henry called turning to face her.

"If you want us to get along as two civil people can you please stop calling me Mary?" Maria asked angrily. "By the way, who said you could lie to your son that I'm his mother, when in fact we only got married by mistake, and never had any intercourse?" She queried.

"You really don't remember me Mary? That hurts", Henry replied.

"Can you stop calling me that you psychopath?" Maria shouted into Henry's face, her voice vibrated as she spoke.

"I'm sorry", Henry apologised.

Sylvia dragged Maria closer and began to caress her body, in an attempt to calm her down.

"I'll talk to you instead, and I'll go straight to the point. You always upset my friend", Sylvia said facing Henry.

"My friend is getting married soon, her fiance will be in the country anytime soon. And during the course of the preparation for her upcoming wedding, she realized that she got married to you accidentally. She got drunk, you were also drunk, there was a lawyer at the bar, the both of you talked to him about marriage, he prepared the documents and you signed it. Because of this reason, her marriage with her fiance wouldn't hold, so she have come to plead with you to go with her to court quietly so you both can get a divorce before anyone else finds out", Sylvia explained.

"Why then didn't you just prepare the divorce papers? Why didn't you just bring it here so I'll sign?" Henry asked.

"You think she wouldn't do that if it were that easy?" Sylvia asked him.

"For your information, I don't remember getting married to anyone by mistake four years ago. Yes we got married but it wasn't four years ago, and it wasn't by mistake. We both got married six years ago, and you disappeared four years ago from the hospital immediately after birthing our son", Henry narrated to her.

Sylvia and Maria exchanged surprised glances. It has been confirmed that she mistakenly married a psycho. How would they get out if this??
