Aubrey and I were on our way to my parent’s place. I don’t know how this would go, but my mother thought it would be better to do it at home rather than out in public. My dad may not accept, and if he doesn’t, that is his issue, not mine. I am not going to break things off if he disapproves. I was a grown-ass man, and he couldn’t tell me who to date.

“I don’t think I can do this,” Aubrey panicked as we pulled into my parent’s driveway.

“Yes, you can, my love,”

I parked the car and turned to her. I reached for her hand and linked our fingers.

“What if he hates me? Fires me? Thinks I am not good enough for you?” she rambled on.
