I slowly opened my eyes, groggily taking in my surroundings. I was met with a throbbing headache and a wave of dizziness.

As my vision cleared, I saw Cane and another man, Jake who I knew to be his personal assistant, huddled around a small fire. Cane's eyes met mine, and he rose to his feet, walking towards me.

"How are you?" he asked, his voice low and concerned.

I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through my leg, making me wince. Cane quickly moved to help me, his hands gentle as he supported me.

"The wolves," I whispered, memories of the attack flooding back.

"They're dead," Cane said, his voice firm. "And we know who sent them. Your stepmother."
