I'm sitting at my desk filling out some paperwork when Rico walks right up to me and pulls me into his arms.

“Did it work?” Elation rushes through me as I realize that my plan to get Clarke to come back must have worked.

“It worked. He came back on his knees with an apology.” Rico lets me go, and I immediately feel cold and wish that he'd wrap me back up in his arms again. “I want to celebrate you tonight.”

“Tonight?” I glance down at the paperwork on my desk, and Rico shakes his head.

    Laurel I don't think I've ever been this nervous to go to the bathroom before. I pace back and forth across the rug in front of the sink and put one hand on the back of my neck before lifting my chin and tilting my head back to stare at the ceiling. I'm not really sure what compelled me to get out of bed at three AM besides the need to pee, but now I’m not sure I’ll be able to get back to sleep. Maybe a hot shower would help me relax and mold me back into slumber. Or I could always go climb into bed beside Arson and ask him to rub me until my body can’t stay awake any longer.     Arson Only three days have passed since Laurel and I parted ways, but I feel like I haven't slept in a week. But that’s fine; I've used the time I should have spent sleeping to come up with a plan. I thank my lucky stars that when I’d called Mia and poured my heart out, she had offered to help me. I guess she's been trying to plant it in Laurel 's head that today's dating world is different than the dating world she’d given up on years ago.     “But did he mean it?” That's the real question here. What he did to my best friend is absolutely unforgivable, so I can't even imagine accepting an apology from him or thinking he's changed or that he's worth our time. “I have no idea, but I doubt it.” She scrapes the side of her bowl with her spoon and pops the last bite into her mouth.
