5. Disturbance

“What are you thinking about?” Damien’s question took Siena back from her drifted mind. They were sitting in a limousine driving them to La Paradise Hotel.

“Oh, nothing, I’m just –"

“Are you nervous?”

Siena bit her bottom lip. “Yes, a little bit nervous….”

Damien stretched his right hand, took Siena’s hands and held them. “Don’t be nervous, you’re a brave girl. Besides, you look so wonderful tonight,” he praised Siena, who was wearing a cherry red midi dress with off-shoulder model.

The dress clung to her body in all the right places, showing her beautiful figure, making Damien unable to turn his gaze away.

Siena found it hard to respond. But something in Damien’s warm touch made her heart skip a beat. He was such a nice person, willing to accompany her to the party, even though it was not part of his duty as a lawyer.

“We have arrived, Mister Lambert and Miss Mori…,” Fidel, the driver, told them.

Siena had guessed from the beginning that the party would be attended by many people whom she did not even know, and … the journalists! Well, she was right! A group of news hunters were waiting outside the main entrance, welcoming the guests every time they stepped out from their cars.

But to her relief, there were more security guards. They formed a solid line preventing the journalists from approaching the guests.

“Walk with me, Siena….” Damien seemed to understand her feeling. He held out his hand for Siena to grasp, flashing a pleasant and calming smile.

When they both stepped out from the limousine, flashlight from dozens of cameras greeted them, capturing every moment. Siena’s eyes were blurred by the dazzling light. Fortunately, Damien kept on holding her hands, leading her across the red carpet into the building.

In the main lobby, they were welcomed by the managers and staff of the hotel. Since Siena was the heiress of all Adalfo’s companies, she was also the chief executive of all the staff now.

“Welcome, Miss Siena Mori…,” a baldheaded man with the glasses greeted. “I’m Rudolf Nash, the General Manager of La Paradise Hotel.”

“Good evening, Mister Nash, pleasure to meet you….”

Siena could not count anymore how many staff had shaken her hands, and how many times she repeated the similar words.

‘Grandpa, you should regret now, leaving me all your companies, while I’m incapable of doing anything,’ she complained silently in her thoughts, feeling inferior.

In fact, all Adalfo’s companies had been running well without her interference, because Adalfo had a group of great managers and staff.

Finally the introduction session was over. Damien led Siena to the buffet table.

“Now, let’s have something to eat. No need to think about anything else,” Damien spoke.

“Oh, thank God! I’m so thirsty….”

Siena quickly grabbed a glass of red-colored liquid on the beverages table. She took a sip, but the next second, she frowned and coughed.

“What’s this?” she screamed. “It tastes so weird…!”

Damien chuckled. “Don’t tell me that you have never tasted red wine…!”

Siena dropped her jaw, looking at the glass in her hand. “I thought it was soda….” Her cheeks blushed. She looked around her, hoping nobody was watching.

Damien was still laughing. “You better take this one, Siena, sparkling water…,” he said, replacing the glass in her hand with a glass of carbonated clear liquid.

“Sshh…. Oh, please, stop laughing at me…,” she lowered her voice so as not to attract any attention.

“You need to try taking wine. There will be more parties and events to attend in the future, Siena. You can’t refuse every time you’re served with wine,” Damien reminded. He seemed to enjoy the red-colored liquid so much.

Siena stunned. Was drinking wine included in her list of obligations as Adalfo’s heiress?

A pair of grayish blue eyes was watching Siena and Damien from afar. Siena’s red dress was not revealing, but it still showed the bare and smooth skin of her back, her shoulder, and also her beautiful legs. Her slim body was wrapped perfectly by the satin dress. Her oval face, her brown hair, and her beautiful figure….

Alfonso licked his lips. He must have had too much wine. There was something wrong with his mind! How on earth could he fantasize about Siena Mori?

Alfonso stepped toward Siena and Damien. “Good evening…. I’ve told you that we’ll see each other soon.”

Her heart pounded so hard in her chest as Siena turned around to the deep husky voice. The face of a man who gave her bad dreams!

She was astonished, how could a face look so attractive yet so annoying at the same time? That might be the reason why some said that the devil had two faces.

“You…!”

A wicked smile appeared on Alfonso’s face. “Hello, Siena…. And you must be Damien Lambert. What a great couple!” His voice sounded annoying.

“How can you get in this place?” Siena was quick to retort.

Alfonso laughed in a harsh voice. “Don’t forget, I’m Adalfo Garcia’s grandson. There’s no way the staff of this hotel dare to reject my coming,” he responded leisurely.

Siena clenched her teeth, feeling irritated and helpless at the same time. Irritated because Alfonso admitted himself as Adalfo’s grandson only after Adalfo had passed away. Helpless because Alfonso was right, she could not send him away from his own grandfather’s hotel!

“Looks like you both are getting along so well. Is coming to a party together included in a lawyer’s duty?” Alfonso was mocking Damien.

“Mister Adalfo asked me to assist Siena, the legal heiress of all his companies, to keep her away from any disturbance,” Damien replied, intentionally emphasizing the words ‘legal heiress’.

Both men with almost the same heights were staring at each other, Alfonso’s grayish blue eyes against Damien’s brown eyes.

“I’m suspicious there’s something more than just a client and a lawyer relationship between you. What a great coincidence that you happen to be the lawyer who wrote the testament on behalf of Adalfo, and Siena happens to be his heiress!” Alfonso kept on confronting Damien in an insulting way.

“The most important thing is what admitted legal by the law. It’s better than someone who admits himself as a grandson, but he didn’t even show his face on his grandfather’s funeral day!” It was Siena who retorted fiercely.

Alfonso narrowed his eyes, turning his gaze at Siena. Why was she always challenging him?

However, when their eyes locked, Alfonso could not help but be fascinated. Siena’s face looked so lovely like a porcelain doll glittering under the light. For few seconds, he was just lost for words.

“Alfonso…,” a soft voice called. Gloria suddenly stood beside Alfonso, holding his left hand. Gloria’s eyes travelled from Siena’s head down to her toes.

Siena returned the look at Gloria with a frown on her face. Who was this woman, Alfonso’s lover? The woman in the silver dress looked so glamorous and fascinating. Even if she called herself an actress, Siena would definitely believe her.

“Honey, I think it’s time for us to leave. The host is not friendly at all.” A taunting smile appeared on Gloria’s face.

“You’re right, Gloria, this isn’t the perfect time,” Alfonso responded. He turned his gaze back at Siena. “I come here to say hello to you, Siena…. Just so you know, I’ll never let you go….”

Alfonso’s last sentence sent chills down Siena’s spine. This was the second time he threatened her.

Alfonso showed a wide grin on his face. Then he held Gloria’s hand, turned around, and walked away from Siena and Damien. Siena had just realized she was holding her breath just now.

“Ignore him, Siena…. He did that on purpose just to mock you,” Damien said in a tender voice, laying his hand gently on Siena’s shoulder.

She looked into his eyes. Unlike Alfonso’s, the gaze from Damien’s eyes was always pure and warm for her.

“Thanks, Damien. I’m glad you’re here with me.”

Damien gave a reassuring smile. “Come on, let’s continue our party….”
