Evelina had stayed at the café later than all the other employees, and luckily for her, Bonnie had offered to stay behind with her. He had even been kind enough to help serve the other employees and customers with the various beverages and pastries because the café had been extremely busy.

“It’s you,” Bonnie said as he realized that the person who had attacked him was none other than Adrian.Looking into Adrian’s eyes, Bonnie could see nothing but hatred. He tried to get up, but he immediately felt a sharp pain in his side and winced.“I don’t know who you think you are or what you are doing, but I’ll warn you only this one time, and that is to leave my wife. I will not repeat myself again,” Adrian warned.Adrian expected Bonnie to back down, but to his surprise, Bonnie began laughing hysterically.“Your wife? Oh, please... we both know that woman is not happy with you. I see how you treat her badly, like she is nothing more than your accessory,” Bonnie fired back. For a moment, Adrian knew that Bonnie was right. As much as Adrian loved Evelina, he knew that he needed to be honest with himself, and that was to realize that he was not treating Evelina with the respect she de
Café OléEvelina had stayed at the café later than all the other employees, and luckily for her, Bonnie had offered to stay behind with her. He had even been kind enough to help serve the other employees and customers with the various beverages and pastries because the café had been extremely busy. After winning the award, everyone had come to know about her café, and everyone wanted to be part of the entire hype. She was glad that she had extra hands to help her, and now that everyone was gone, it was just the two of them in the café, cleaning up and getting ready for tomorrow’s service.Once the two of them had cleaned the final table, they looked at one another as they rested their hands on their hips, smiling at each other.“I see we make a great team,” Bonnie pointed out.“I agree. We make a great team,” Evelina said. She was tired, very tired, and sh
Evelina and Adrian’s HomeLuckily for them, the night had gone a little better after Evelina’s jab at Adrian. Many people congratulated her, and Adrian stood beside her as a couple, fooling even some of the best paparazzi journalists. But as soon as they arrived home, everything had gone cold between the two of them once again. There they were, treating each other like strangers rather than a married couple.Adrian watched as his wife removed her shoes and began walking up the steps, leaving him behind. Once she was halfway up the steps, Adrian coughed, and she stopped with her back still facing him.He looked at Evelina and let out a loud sigh. It was obvious that the two of them were about to have a conversation that neither of them wanted to have, but it was much needed if they were going to save the illusions they had about their marriage.“Evelina, I am actually very proud of you for winning the award. You certainly deserve it,” Adrian finally said. After a few seconds, there was
A few days had gone by, and that night, Evelina got dressed ready for the award ceremony. The relationship between herself and Adrian was still strained, with him not disclosing things to her from time to time. Adrian would receive phone calls, and instead of answering them in front of her, he would often move away, which did not make matters any better for their relationship.Even as they drove to the ceremony, with a driver driving them both, Evelina and Adrian remained completely silent. Neither had even bothered to compliment the other on how well they were dressed for that night. The only thing they knew was that they would arrive at the event and act like a loving couple who had no issues between themselves. When the driver came to a halt in front of the large, beautiful hotel where the ceremony was going to be held, both Adrian and Evelina sat at the back of the vehicle for some time, taking deep breaths as though they were about to pull off the most convincing performance yet.
A Few Days LaterOver the next few days, the tension between Evelina and Adrian had become noticeable. Adrian had become even more grumpy in his office, while Evelina was becoming distant, choosing not to speak to him for days at a time. At dinner, she would not even sit at the same table and eat with Adrian.Neither of them seemed willing to make the first move. Whenever they found themselves in the same room, the silence between them was almost unbearable. Evelina would pretend to be busy with something else, while Adrian would bury himself in his work, even though he was clearly aware of her presence.Luckily for Evelina, the café was doing great, and business was running smoothly. She had made her way to the supermarket to grab a few things before heading home for the day, but she already knew that the drive home with Adrian would be slightly uncomfortable, as neither of them would converse with one another like they had been doing ov
Adrian immediately ran off to the center as soon as he received a call that something was wrong. At that moment, he did not care that he had left Evelina at the restaurant by herself or that he had pulled his driver out of the vehicle so that he could drive to the center. Luckily for Adrian, when he arrived there, the nurses had already handled everything. But the one thing he could not handle was how he would explain himself to Evelina after leaving her in such a way.Adrian had repeatedly tried to call her on the phone, but she had declined his calls and later switched off her phone. Luckily for Adrian, he had gotten through to his driver, who told him that the two of them had gotten a taxi back home.Even though Adrian was relieved that Evelina was home safely, he knew that he had a lot of explaining to do, which meant that he would ultimately have to lie because he could not tell Evelina the truth about why he had gone to the center.Although the two of them had promised not to li
