The Beaumont Building
Adrian had woken up that morning and had even had an argument with Evelina regarding his decision to go to work, even after he had been injured the night before. But Adrian was so insistent that going to work would be the best thing for him.
He stood at his office window, watching the city below while still shaken by the letter he had received that morning. It was another letter, different from the one he had received the night before at
The moment Evelina got into her vehicle, she began driving back home. The entire time, she could not forget the fact that Bonnie’s father had warned her to stay away from his son. It was almost as though there was something about his son that he could not speak about, but rather, he could only give Evelina a warning. She sped up a little, hoping that she could get home on time, but just as Evelina stepped on the brakes, she realizesthat her brakes were no longer working. Panic immediately rushed through her body.Realizing that there was oncoming traffic, Evelina took another turn, hoping that there were no cars a block away. She continued driving, even though her nerves were growing and panic was beginning to set in. Her brakes were no longer working, and at that very moment, all Evelina could think about was how she could stop her car.Not knowing what to do, Evelina pulled out her phone while still holding one hand on the steering wheel and drivin
A few days laterThe Grocery StoreA few days later, Evelina had done her research and found out that Bridget was definitely not responsible for vandalizing her cafe. This put Evelinaat peace so much that shedecided to go on about her life as though everything was normal. After a few days of not receiving any more threats from the possible vandalizer, she began to feel that everything was fine again... back to normal.Evelina stood at one of the aisles, looking at the various jams available in the store. She wanted to decide which one would be best for her to pick for their home. She reached out to compare two jars, but before she could make a decision, she noticed that the atmosphere around her felt odd. She turned around slowly and a few meters away, she saw an old man she knew. For a moment, she simply stared at him. She had met him at the award ceremony, and she remembered him being Bonnie’s father.
As soon as Evelina told him that she was in trouble, Adrian made his way to the Sweetheart Motel. As soon as he arrived, he saw that multiple police vehicles were parked in the parking lot, while another investigator was talking to Evelina. The moment she saw her husband, she ran to him and hugged him.Adrian held onto Evelina so tightly that he did not want to let her go. He could feel that she was shaking and sobbing in his arms and whatever had happened had clearly left her shaken. Adrian finally let go of his wife and looked into her eyes, immediately noticing the fear in them.“What happened to you?” he asked her. Before Evelina could answer, the detective walked over to Adrian and held out his hand. Instead of shaking it, Adrian simply stared at him. There were already too many questions he needed answers to and he did not have time for formalities.“I would like to know what happened to my wife,” Adrian said to the detective in a deep and commanding voice.“I believe someone tr
The next dayThe Sweetheart MotelEvelina had spent the entire night unable to sleep because all she could think about was how her cafe had been vandalized. She kept wondering who could possibly be responsible for such a thing.Various people crossed her mind, including Rosalina, who was definitely not responsible because she was still in jail. Another person she considered was Tim and then there was Bridget.Evelina had opted not to go to work that morning because the cafe was still under investigation. Instead, she took Adrian's car and drove over to the Sweetheart Motel. The moment she stepped out, she looked at the rundown place and almost felt sick to her stomach. She needed to do this for her own sanity because, deep down, Evelina felt that the detectives were not doing a good job on their own. She wanted to find answers herself, even if it meant putting herself in an uncomfortable situation.Immediately after Evelina walked into the rundown hotel, she noticed the worn-out carpe
Adrian could not understand why he had been feeling odd the entire time. It was almost as though his body was sensing something that he himself could not make out. After trying and failing to concentrate while sitting behind his office desk, he finally stood up and walked over to the large window that overlooked the street and Evelina's cafe. His heart came to a complete stop as soon as he saw multiple police vehicles parked in front of Evelina's cafe. Without thinking about his actions, he immediately ran out of his office, not caring whether his employees were looking at him. He was in such a hurry that he did not even take the elevator and instead opted for the stairs.Adrian even crossed the main road without looking left or right to make sure that no cars were coming, almost causing a few accidents in the process, until he finally burst into the cafe. He paused at the door when he saw a few police officers talking to Evelina, who looked completely shaken. Almost as though sensing

It was another letter, different from the one he had received the night before at the hospital. This letter was another warning that they would hurt Adrian if it was the last thing they did.Instead of showing the letter to Evelina, Adrian had hidden it underneath his pillow, hoping that everything would be okay. The last thing he wanted at that moment was to scare Evelina more than she already was. After all, she had nearly seen her husband killed in an unmarked vehicle, and the last thing he wanted to do was shake her up even more. He knew she was already ter
