Chapter four

Everyone turned around and looked at me. Thank God I wore dark specs; the media would have had a field day.

I turned around and walked away shamefully. It’s been a while since I've had such treatment, but being a businessman does come with its perks.

I went into a boutique, bought a new black shirt, and threw the stained one away.

I made sure to put a call through to Lavid to remind him to deliver a very long skirt for Bernice as her punishment for lying to me and making Meena embarrass me.

I went back into my car and drove back angrily to my office.

MEENA'S POV

I had to quit college and go get a job at the coffee shop. They are the only ones willing to offer me a job on short notice and ignore the fact that I am a dropout.

But my first day on the job didn’t seem to like me much as my one-night stand decided to show up.

As soon as I heard his voice, my heart skipped, and my legs trembled. I recognized that voice any day, anytime.

I did not want him to make me seem like a whore to my employers, so I poured the remaining coffee on him and denied knowing him.

I could tell, from the look on his face, that he was embarrassed and angry. This wasn’t going to end well, was all I could get from his facial expression. But thank God, he walked away, and I sighed in relief while I made plans to seek out another coffee shop far away from here.

My supervisor was angry; he asked what happened.

I told him the man wanted to touch my boobs, and I was irritated.

He told me there were better ways to handle such issues. “But why would such a fine man want to touch your boobs?" he wondered. “Do it again, and you are fired! Is that understood?”

I nodded and walked back to my duty post, hoping I would never see him again.

After work, I stopped by the hospital and noticed an extra fluid was connected to the back of my mom. I asked the doctor what for, and he said her condition got worse overnight and they had to contain it.

I stood up and cried all the way home. I prayed for a miracle yet again, and this time my prayer was answered, just not in the way I wanted it.

The following morning, I rose hurriedly, had my bath, and headed back to the coffee shop. I had a morning shift again and did not want to be late. I already got a back start; I did not want to complicate matters further

I went to the closet, changed my clothes, and went to my duty post. I smiled and was ready to take my orders for the day.

The first voice sent shivers down my spine, and I immediately knew who was placing the order.

Why were my days getting more torturous?

I lifted my head and wanted to spit fire at him, but he said in a very calm and commanding tone

"Calm down, baby girl. I think you will be interested in what I have to offer you.”

I noticed the blue file in his hand with the heading SilkStich Incorporated.

I rolled my eyes and noticed my supervisor staring at me from the closet.

I collected the file, and he handed his card over to me.

I smiled, and he walked away.

I threw the file under the table and continued with my duties for the day.

It was lunchtime, and my shift was over. I took off my apron and changed into my clothes. I went back to my stand and took the blue file.

I walked into the park close by, sat on the swing, and opened the file to see what was inside.

Dear Meena, would you be my wife?

"Terms and Conditions apply."

I laughed and almost threw the file away before I saw some papers falling from the file

Should you accept to be my wife,

I am willing to pay you two million dollars immediately and give you a monthly allowance of 500 dollars.

My jaw dropped, and I did not even wait to finish reading the other benefits before I opened my purse and brought out my pen to sign the deal.

This is precisely what I want—a way to save my mom and go back to school. I was thrilled; I was just swiping through the other pages of the file. The last page caught my attention

"I am not allowed to have any relationships outside."

"I was not allowed to go outside the mansion without his permission."

"He owns my body and will do with it as he pleases."

"I am to prepare his meal and ensure he is properly taken care of."

"While the agreement is still in place, I belonged to him and if I broke any rule, he would punish me the way he deemed fit."

I stirred at the instructions for a little while; it's not that bad, I thought.

I got to the place where I would append my signature.

I saw my name, "Meena Fordson," and looked at the other signed side, "Jason Goldberg," CEO of SilkStich Incorporated. I could not believe my eyes.

It seemed like he was so sure I would sign it. Well, someone just got himself a maid.

Jason was my one-night stand, but I knew he could have a collection of models lining up to have him. He could have a hundred women over in the blink of an eye. What could he possibly want with a naive girl like me?

I am sure fate has smiled on me, and I was not going to let this opportunity go. I signed and brought out my phone.

I dialled his number, and it rang twice before I heard his magic voice again.

“Hello Meena, Have you given a response?”

I cleared my throat and wanted to sound less desperate

“I accept, but it has to be on my terms.”

He chuckled and responded, “My terms or the deal is off.”

I quickly accepted and he asked where I was so he would come to pick me up

I am in the park at the corner of the coffee shop where I work.

He corrected me, “Where you used to work? You can't be the wife of a multi-billionaire and work at a coffee shop.” He hung up, and I felt a tingling sensation between my legs. His voice and his words made me wet.

In less than twenty minutes, a teal blue Mercedes Benz pulled up, and a handsome chauffeur dropped from the driver's seat and walked toward me.

“Hello, Miss Meena? I was tasked with taking you to meet with Mr. Jason.” He chimed.

I cleaned the sweaty hands on my lap and stood up. “Can I stop over and pack my things?” I asked

“Mr. Jason says you won't need any of it; he has everything sorted out.”

"OK, then, I have to drop by the hospital and see my mom before I head home.” He agreed, and we drove to the hospital.

He drove fast, and there was a quiet atmosphere in the car.

I texted Jason, asking him why he chose me. There was no response, but soon I

heard my phone beep, and there was his response on the screen.

"You fit my description."
