Margaret

I woke up to the sound of the drain, it made me smile and reminisce all those times with Zeus. How we would play, and kiss in the rain, but I was sad because I knew that might just continue to be memories as it might never happen again.

I got off the bed and walk into the bathroom to get done with my morning business. My thoughts went back to this marriage, I was married to this man and I couldn't get the reason why he chose to get married to me, I hated the fact that I was married to him, but there was not a damn thing that I could do about it.

After I was done taking my bath, I picked up a flowery multicoloured gown and wore it, it was flayed and stopped on my knees, I reached for my phone which was under the pillow. Last night after returning to my room after the dreadful dinner Zeus had called and I was pissed at him, he told me that his father had assigned him something to do which was why he didn't come to meet me before the marriage. He also told me that he was going to come to see me today in the mansion, I told him not to. It might not end up well for us if Vladiv found out but he insisted.

I walked out of the room, the door to Vladiv's room was closed. I had to go find a secluded area where Zeus and I could meet. As I walked down the stairs, I could see the maids cleaning and they greeted me as they caught a glimpse of me. I responded to them with a smile on my face which some of them returned and the others ignored, I had not seen Kim nor Leila again after I had gone to meet them for some water yesterday. Leila and Kim, we're the ones I knew and had a conversation with, Leila and the waiter from yesterday were the only ones who were nice to me. I smiled as I saw Leila walking toward me, " Good morning." I greeted her when she came in front of me.

She smiled genuinely, a smile that reached her eyes. " Good Morning ma'am."

Maybe I could be friends with her, it wouldn't hurt to befriend someone who knows the mansion and Vladiv better than I did since I got here only yesterday.

"Can you please show me to the kitchen?" I asked and she nodded softly, I walked after her as she took the lead. I needed to have a cup of coffee, I loved having coffee, it was my favourite morning drink.

We got into the kitchen and Kim was there, her lips curled up with dislike as our eyes met, I knew I hadn't offended her but she hated me for no reason I was aware of.

She glared at me for breathing, it was like she hated the sight of me. "Good morning, Kim." I greeted ignoring her stares.

She paused for a second, "Good morning Ma'am." She mumbled not taking her eyes off me as the glares intensified. I turned to Leila ignoring her Kim.

"Please can I make some coffee?" I asked and she shook her head.

"You do not have to do that, I will do it for you." She said politely.

"Please it is just coffee." I countered, but she refused and started to make the coffee herself. She began to heat the milk and stir the coffee, while Kim brought a red mug. After Leila was done she poured some into the mug and handed it to me.

"Leila, you should join me." I smiled and she shook her head.

"No, I'm fine ma'am. Do not worry about me," she said.

"Come on, it's just coffee, please," I muttered, and she nodded reaching for a mug and pouring some for herself.

"Kim, you shouldn't stand there join us." I smiled and she raised her eyebrows, she must have been surprised as to why I was being nice to her when she was acting like a sassy teenager.

"No, thank you." She said as she gawked at me and Leila.

I dropped the mug I had used as I was dine drinking my coffee.

"Thank you, Leila. I will be glad if we could be friends, also if you could stop calling me ma'am and address me by my name." I muttered, but Leila didn't say a word, she just smiled.

I remembered I had something to do, find a secret place to meet Zeus. I left the kitchen and set out on my mission. I head out towards the door of the living room and closed it afterwards.

"She must be feeling like a queen and not aware of the fact that she is doomed," I heard someone say, I turned to my right and I saw two ladies who were facing the windows talking they wore black gowns that had white capes, one had an apron on but the other didn't. I knew they were workers since that was the uniform the maids wore.

"Yeah, she seems like a nice person but I'm not sure the boss will consider that. Why did she agree to marry him in the first place?" The one with the apron said.

"Well, I heard her father had signed a deal with the boss in exchange for his daughter." The other lady who was without an apron muttered. They didn't notice I was standing there since they were so engrossed in their gossip.

The one who had just finished talking turned and as our eyes met the keys she was holding fell to the ground her eyes bulged out and she covered her mouth with her palms.

"Good morning ma'am," she greeted in stutters so did the other lady.

They glanced at each other and went on their knees, " Please don't tell the boss about this, he is going to kill us." They pleaded with trembling chins.

"You two can get up, and I have no plans to tell the boss. What would you have done if he was the one who had heard all of this you just said? Next time you should learn to mind your business." I told them before walking away.

I met the security, the hefty muscular men and as I saw the big guns they held, It brought fear to me, what if they find Zeus trespassing and kill him or tell Vladiv about him? I would be done for.

They greeted me when I walked past them and I did the same as I wandered around the house I wasn't familiar with. I lost hope as I kept walking, everywhere was filled with a lot of security, how could Zeus possible walk past all of them and get in? Yes Zeus was smart and sly but this wasn't going to be easy. It was either he succeeded or got caught. As I got to the back of the mansion, I saw a cabin, it look deserted, I waddled into it, and there were boxes and pieces of abandoned pieces of furniture in it. I smiled, this was a perfect place to meet Zeus, now I just had to think of a possible way for him to get in. I dialled him and he picked up almost immediately.

"Hey," his voice came from the other side.

"Zeus, I've found us a place to meet, it's at the back of the house. You just have to figure out a way to get past the security," I told him. I could feel my muscles clench as I thought of the possibility of him getting busted. I was making him walk through a death trap.

"I'm on my way, I will be there soon just send me a picture of the cabin. I love you." He said.

"I love you too, Zeus. Please be safe." I mumbled before hanging up. I walked outside the cabin and clicked a picture of it before walking back in.

I grabbed a piece of clothing and cleaned one of the chairs before sitting on it, I took a deep breath after sending the picture to him. I decided to look at the photos of I and Zeus on my phone, I grinned as I saw one where he carried me in his arms, that day I was pissed with him and refused to talk to him, and then when he did that a friend of his had taken the picture.

The door screeched open revealing Zeus which drifted me out of my reverie. I ran to him wrapping my arms around him and he did the same, my head resting on his chest since he was taller, I hadn't seen him for just a day but it felt like weeks. He smiled staring at my face as we finally let go of each other. I was glad that he had gotten in without getting caught.

"I'm glad you are fine," I muttered hugging him again.

He chuckled patting my hair," I am too else my head would have been cut off by your husband's men." He said.

I hated the fact that Zeus was referring to Vladiv as my husband but that was the truth.

"Babe, did I say something wrong?" He asked as he noticed the change in my mood.

"Fuck! I didn't mean to, I'm sorry." He apologised as he realised what must have caused my face to change.

"It's fine, it's the sad reality," I uttered going back to the seat I was sitting on before he came in.

Zeus walked toward me, he put his hand around my waist pulling him up. He gazed at me, his emerald green eyes boring into mine.

"I'll find a way to make everything right, I promise." He purred tucking my hair behind my ears, his touch made me shiver

His hand smoothed the length of my hair as he gazed at me," you are so beautiful," he smiled, his fingers wandered down my cheeks to my lips, and he leaned downwards, his lips against my cheeks brushing them lightly.

Shivers ran through my whole body making me tremble, he brushed his mouth against my temple and then traced my jawline. I couldn't wait anymore, I reached up pulling his mouth to mine. He kissed me gently, I kissed him back running my fingers along his arms, I knotted my fist in his shirt pulling him closer and his arms circled around me. He kissed my nose, then he traced my cheek with his fingertip. I didn't want it to end, every of my nerve ending jangled but the loud ring of his phone disrupted not him but me as he didn't take his gaze off me.

"You should pick it up, it might be important," I told him, and he hesitated for a while before taking the phone out of his pants pocket. He picked up and then brought the phone to his right ear, I could see his jaw clenched, rigid cords forming in his neck as he spoke.

"Fuck those assholes," he cursed when he was done talking on the phone.

"What happened?" I asked taking a step closer to him.

"Our warehouses were raided by Mark, my Dad just told me." He answered his jaw jutting out.

Mark was a member of the gang Zeus's dad belonged to, it was expected that they are friends and each other's keepers but in the Mafia that was different betrayal was

"I'm sorry," I muttered. Things like this were not new in that type of business, it involved losses and gains. Loss of properties, and even worst lives.

"I have to go now, I'm really sorry." He muttered kissing my hair, he pulled me into a hug.

"Please be careful," I told him and he smiled.

"Don't worry, I won't die," he smoothed my hair and kissed my cheek before walking out of the cabin.

When he was gone, I headed out of the cabin shutting the door behind me but froze when I heard that voice, Vladiv's.

"What are you doing here?" He asked, I gulped turning to face him. I could feel the moisture on my hands, I was sweating profusely and my hands were shaky, I clasped them together trying to stop them from trembling but it was futile. His eyes were on me, fixed on my lips. His glare intensified, " Did you kiss someone? Was it Zeus?" He questioned.

My heart rate quickened, goosebumps formed on my skin. I was speechless, this was my doom! The end of me!

MargaretThe first few weeks of my pregnancy felt like a dream, a dream I didn't want to wake up from. I had accepted my fate that I would never be able to bear my child. I was ok with that, I had Adonis. He brought so much joy to the family, I was blessed to be his mother. Vladiv said he was going to make the doctor who said I would be unable to bear a child pay for the pains and emotional trauma I had to go through but I convinced him that there was no point doing that. All that mattered was that we were going to have a baby and the past was irrelevant. Some of our friends were finding it difficult to adapt to calling me Lilly and I told them they didn't have to. They could address me as Maggie, it was still my name after all. Vladiv took all that was my parents and returned it to me, Mom was a wealthy woman. Vladivostok"Your dream came true," I laughed pulling Adonis in a hug. I was overjoyed, my heart was fluttering with joy. I couldn't even put my happiness in words. "Mommy is awake," Adonis mumbled scooting to the bed and I did the same. Maggie's eyes were opened and they darted around the room. "Baby.." I called helping her sit up. "What happened?" She inquired rubbing her temples. Adonis sat beside her. "You lost consciousness so we brought you to the hospital," I told her. She peeked at Adonis, an apologetic look crept on her face. "I'm sorry for ruining your party," she apologised hugging him. "You didn't ruin it, mommy, I'm happy I'm going to have a baby sister soon," he giggled and Maggie laughed. "Yes, soon Adonis," I smiled. "Is that a joke?" She arched her brows staring at me intensely. I shook my head, "No, the doctor confirmed it. You are pregnant. You are three weeks gone," I let out and she burst out laughing. "How is that even possible?" Her brows furrowed a

MargaretSeveral weeks had passed since I sent the money to my father and it turns out I made a terrible mistake because whenever I tried to call him it was either unreachable or he wasn't picking up. I was yet to say anything to Vladiv about it. The nightmares had stopped but the doctor advised me to keep taking my meds and continue therapy. "Mom your phone is ringing," Adonis said stretching the phone to me when he came into the room."Thank you," I smiled as I took the phone from him. He ran off afterwards, I knew he wanted to go meet Vladiv so they could continue playing their game. Glancing at the caller ID I was rather surprised to see that it was my father who was calling. "Margaret, I just gave it thought seeing that you are so dumb to understand things I've called to explain them to you. I fooled you, I lied to you. Well not everything I told you was a lie, the part about me not being your father is true and also that you have a mother and sister but the part where I sai

MargaretI took a deep breath as I stared at my phone which was in front of me, I was contemplating picking it up and calling my father or should I say the man who called himself my foster father the last time he called me. It's been a week since I and Vladiv visited the hospital with concerns about the nightmares I was having. The Doctor said I had been made to forget part of my childhood and now the memories were forced to come back because of the fall I had. He prescribed some medicines for me and put me on therapy. I had to visit my therapist thrice a week, and she was trying her best but so far everything was still the same. All I could think of after putting things together was that the nightmares I was having could be related to what my father had told me over the phone. He could be saying the truth. I was yet to tell Vladiv about the call I received from my father, he was already worried about the nightmares I was having and I didn't want to add to that. Finally making my m
