The snicker on his face was filled with contempt. It was clear that nothing I said or did would lessen the hold of whoever he was sent by. I could see it in his eyes that he wasn’t being controlled, he was doing so at his own accord.

“Does it matter who sent me? You do not belong here, so I am here to end you.” The male snarled.

“Why don’t we belong here?” I heard Leilani ask from the cage.

I was glad she was still in there because I didn’t want to take any chances. He may be held captive right now, but the strength he showed me was nothing short of amazing. It wasn’t like he was the first shifter crow I have faced, yet he was far the strongest.

In fact, I was sure that he had the help of a witch making him stronger. If it hadn’t been for the serpents to lend a hand, I had begun to think I was in over my head. I still wasn’t sure where they had come from though, although I suspected Leilani was responsible.
