CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN

Scarlett’s POV

Chapter 47

Scarlett's POV

The mansion was unusually quiet.

After Ryan left earlier that afternoon, I had tried to keep myself busy.

First, I spent some time reading through the pack documents he had given me a few weeks ago. After that, I walked through the gardens behind the mansion before helping one of the maids arrange fresh flowers inside the living room.

None of it really held my attention.

Every few minutes, I found myself glancing toward the front entr

CHAPTER FIFTY Eight Scarlett’s POVFor the first time in several days, the morning felt normal. Not perfect, completely peaceful but normal.I sat near the window in my room, watching the sunlight slowly spread across the garden outside. The last few days had been exhausting.Too many questions.Too many doubts.Too many moments where I wondered if things between Ryan and me were changing.I hated feeling that way.Because deep down, I knew Ryan.I knew he wasn’t someone who would intentionally hurt me.He wasn’t ignoring me because he didn’t care.He was simply trying to help someone who needed him. That was the kind of person he was.Sometimes, that was also the reason he ended up carrying too much.A soft knock came from the door.I looked up.“Come in.”The door opened.Ryan stood there. For a moment, I was surprised. He rarely came to my room without a reason.“Are you busy?”I shook my head.“No.”He nodded slightly. Then he looked away for a second before speaking.“You said w

CHAPTER FIFTY Secen Scarlett’s POVThe garden had become my favorite place in the mansion. Not because it was the most beautiful place.Although it was.The flowers were always carefully taken care of, the paths were always clean, and the sound of the fountain in the distance made everything feel peaceful. But recently, I came here because it was the only place where I could be alone with my thoughts. And lately…I had too many thoughts.Gomez’s words kept returning to my mind.“You still don’t understand why I am here.”“Some people only stay until the right person comes back.”I hated that those words affected me.I knew Ryan cared about me.I knew what we had was real.I had seen the way he looked at me.I had felt the way he protected me.But there was something about Gomez’s confidence that bothered me.She wasn’t guessing. She wasn’t trying to make a random accusation. She sounded like someone who knew something I didn’t.I sat on the wooden bench near the fountain, watching th

CHAPTER FIFTY Six Scarlett’s POVThe mansion felt quieter than usual that afternoon. After everything that had happened between Ryan and me, I found myself spending more time outside. Not because I wanted to avoid him, I didn’t.I just needed time to clear my head.Every time I thought about our conversation in his study, my heart felt heavy.I knew Ryan wasn’t trying to hurt me.That was the hardest part.If he had been cold toward me, maybe it would have been easier. But he wasn’t.He still cared. He still looked at me the same way.He still tried to make things right. The problem was that there was now something between us.Something I couldn’t ignore.I walked through the garden slowly, letting the fresh air calm my thoughts. The flowers moved gently with the breeze.Everything looked peaceful.Almost too peaceful.I was about to return to the mansion when I heard footsteps behind me.I turned.Gomez stood a few feet away. The moment I saw her, my expression changed. She rarely a

CHAPTER FIFTY-FOURScarlett’s POVThe next morning, I left the mansion earlier than usual.I didn’t feel like sitting through breakfast.I wasn’t angry. At least, that was what I kept telling myself. The truth was much harder to admit.Every time I looked at Ryan, I remembered our conversation in his study. He hadn’t called me a liar.He hadn’t raised his voice. He had listened to everything I said. And yet…He still chose to believe that Gomez meant no harm.Maybe he was right.Maybe I really had misunderstood. But my heart refused to accept it.The training field was almost empty when I arrived.Only a few players had started warming up.I picked up my stick and stepped onto the ice without waiting for anyone else. The cold air hit my face the moment my skates touched the surface.I welcomed it.It helped clear my thoughts.I skated from one end of the rink to the other, focusing only on the puck in front of me.One pass, another .Then another. I repeated the same drill over and ov

Chapter teScarletts PovI barely slept.Every time I closed my eyes, I heard Gomez’s voice again.“Everything is going exactly as planned.”“He doesn’t suspect anything.”“As long as he keeps believing me, she won’t have a chance.”Those words refused to leave my mind.I turned onto my side and stared at the window until the first rays of sunlight slipped into my room.By morning, I had made up my mind.I couldn’t keep this to myself. If Gomez was planning something, Ryan deserved to know.Even if he didn’t believe me…At least I would have tried. After getting dressed, I walked downstairs. The mansion was already awake.Servants moved from one room to another, preparing breakfast and carrying fresh flowers through the hallways.I looked around for Ryan.He wasn’t in the dining room. One of the maids noticed me.“Miss Scarlett.”I smiled politely.“Have you seen Ryan?”“The young master is in his study.”“Thank you.”I made my way upstairs. The closer I came to his study, the faster

Chapter 53 Scarlett's POVSleep refused to come.No matter how many times I closed my eyes, my mind refused to become quiet.Ryan had promised he would come back.He always meant what he said.I knew that.Still… The empty hours had hurt more than I wanted to admit. With a quiet sigh, I pushed the blanket aside and climbed out of bed.“Maybe a glass of water will help,” I whispered to myself. The hallway outside my room was almost silent.Only a few lights remained on, leaving the long corridor covered in a soft golden glow.I walked slowly toward the staircase.Just as I passed Gomez’s room, a voice drifted through the half-open door.I stopped without thinking.n“…Everything is going exactly as planned.”I frowned.Someone else answered through the phone, but I couldn’t make out the words.Gomez spoke again.“No… he doesn’t suspect anything.”A short silence followed. Then she laughed quietly..“Just be patient.”Something about her voice made my stomach tighten.I remained frozen w
