SARAH PIERCE

“Everything?” I almost whispered.

“What happened years ago? How, when, and why I left?” I think he shifted closer. “What were we?” His eyes then whipped with subtle excitement mixed with despair. “Our good days? And bad days?”

“Bad days?” I loudly scoffed and shifted away. “We had tremendously bad days, Nathaniel,” I proclaimed.

“Oh. Really?” He was trying to believe that statement.

“Well…” I don’t need to be extra. He asked for the truth, and I should tell him. He needs to know in detail what he did before we go our separate ways. “We were amazing. Until you left on the day we were meant to celebrate a year of our relationship.”

“A year?” The surprise in his gaze made the ache in my heart bleed. “But,” he frowned, “why on earth did I leave? Did we fight?”

“If we did, wouldn’t that have been better? You left without a text or call.” My eyes started to feel heavy. I guess I’m getting tired of rehashing that scene. “And my efforts to reach you never worked.”

“Sarah,” he t

NATHANIEL STORMWhile I was unsure about telling Sarah about Amaya Sanquez, who should be in interrogation by now, I certainly wasn’t feeling pleased that I would be talking to her about our annulment. But, it is what it is. I must man up and do this. So, after a firm exhale left me, I unlocked the front door and went in. Sarah and Raya were both in the living room, but it seemed like they were asleep. However, when I moved closer, Raya was the only one sleeping. Sarah’s eyes were creepily wide open because, without blinking, she just kept staring at the ceiling.“Uh… Sarah?” I won’t lie, she scares me sometimes. Just calling out her name felt like I was doing something sacred that would ruin me. I can only blame my guilt for that feeling.“Oh,” she sat up, “you are back. How was work?” she strangely asked.“Uhm, fine?”“Good,” she replied with a smile. Why does she seem excited? What is responsible for that excitement? I want to learn it so that my days of pissing her off can fi

  • Contract With The Ex That Left Me   It feels like a dream

ROSALINE PIERCE“What’s your progress?” I asked the man on the other end of the call.‘I need five hours more,’ he replied, typing noises accompanying his response. ‘The security system is quite tight. It’s not going to be as easy as I thought.’“But is it doable?” I questioned so that I could know whether to start panicking or not.‘Of course it is doable. Don’t underestimate me, Rosa. I will deliver as usual. Just make sure you deliver your part when I am done.’“I will. Your package will be intact as long as you give me good news. So, work faster. I’ll call you later.”‘Sure.’ And he rudely ended the call. That was the leader of the hackers I contacted to alter the security videos from the day of the accident (Wasn’t that yesterday? It feels like it happened days ago. Honestly, it still feels like a dream).Anyway, I can’t wait to receive the good news that my face has been replaced with Sarah’s. Once I get that confirmation, I’ll swing into action and disrupt that bitch’s life.“

NATHANIEL STORM“Mr. Storm, wait,” Amir stopped me before I could reach the door. “What?” I snapped.“Calling Amaya up here will be better,” he reasoned. However, I wasn’t swayed by that reason. I turned and asked, “Why are you being nice? You do know that this woman’s behaviour tracks, right? She has never hidden how obsessed she is with me, so it makes sense that she sent that package. Now, acting stupidly obsessed in my face is something I can forgive, but extending that stupidity to Sarah, sending her nonsense to threaten her? That’s something I can’t forgive.”“Mr. Storm,” Amir sighed. “I’m not saying that because of her. We have to be quiet about this as much as possible.. If not, we will attract unnecessary noise. Remember, not everyone in this company is faithful.”“True.” The eagerness in my feet reduced, so did the anger in my voice. “If you put it that way, you have a point.” So, I went back to my seat. Once seated, I instructed, “Call her up here. And come with the imag

SARAH PIERCE“Ahh!!! Babe!!!” Vanessa screamed, her feet jumping in celebration of my new job. “Keep it down. Please,” I hushed with delight in my voice, my eyes looking around to see people in the lobby staring at us. “I told you, didn’t I?” She didn’t listen to me. “You are a good fit for this company. I’m glad you listened to me.” Her hand then reached for mine as she leaned into me. “Listen, I need you to brace yourself. Ask me why?” She excitedly nudged my arm.“Why?” I asked, thinking that her excitement was sort of like Raya’s.“Because this is going to be an amazing journey!”“Oh God,” I laughed. “Thank you, Vanessa. Really. Thank you.” When I think about the salary package the HR just informed me about, I just can’t help but be grateful over and over. “You are the reason I got this opportunity.”“Anything for you, Sar-bear.” Her eyes turned sorrowful. “Argh, I’m sorry we won’t be able to have brunch together,” she groaned as our feet approached the exit of the grand MODAlin

SARAH PIERCEThat response made my soul burn with rage, and I was tempted to grip his collar and spit into his face. But I maintained composure and decided to stay to hear his reason. I just need him to say it right here, to my face. “So, all that shit I went through was because I wasn’t your real daughter?” I asked.“Your smartness is not dead.” His index finger pointed, he nodded, and said, “That’s good.”“That doesn’t make sense,” I called his bullshit. “It doesn’t. I had no business feeling the heat of the crossfire between you and my mother. I was innocent. How could I have known that I was or wasn’t someone’s daughter? So, tell me. Why did I need to feel your hatred?”“Sarah,” he sighed, as if I was tiring him, “listen, you are being too serious about this.”“Was I a means to punish my mother? Huh? Is that it?” I ended up uttering the reason I heard from my mother because my heart was desperate for his answer. “You slapped me unprovoked on several occasions, you stomped on me w

ROSALINE PIERCE“Hurry,” I almost screamed at the panting man who was digging hard. “I can't go faster than this.”“It's almost dawn,” I worried while heightening my phone’s flashlight for a better view of the ground. “And my shoes are suffering right now.” No matter how I tried to stay calm, I just couldn’t stop my legs from pacing the muddy ground, and sadly, my Fike brand shoes were feeling the dirt a bit too much.“How about ya bury the body, then?” he spat as he tossed the spade we found lying around when we decided to move the body to bury it in the nearby woods.“Clawford, focus,” I almost growled. “There's no time.”“We can still take him to the hospital.” Clawford continued with digging. “He might be alive.”“Oh, right.” I laughed at his stupidity. “Can you handle the heat when everyone finds out about this?”“Why me? I wasn't driving.”My eyes narrowed at him. “I will make everyone believe you were the one driving. . So, dig deeper and let's forget this ever happened.”“Fuc
