Abigail’s POV.
I saw her smirk at me as my mate Christopher pulled her into a tight hug and planted a kiss on her lips as he murmured something into her ears.
Gosh! I was supposed to be out there dancing with him, not her!
We have been married for a few years, today making it the 5th year. Well, no child, which made others consider me as the “girl who wasn't good enough for their alpha.” I thought things were going to change, to get better, but no, it went from bad to worse after my mate's first love came back to the pack about a month ago. I now saw myself being sidelined.
It was our 5th anniversary, but no one noticed me. I was even starting to believe that Amanda, Chris's first love, was the wife and not me.
"Oh, you look good today, Luna.” I sighed as I looked up and saw Asher, my gamma, smiling at me.
“Please have this.” He said and passed me a glass of cocktail.
“Thanks.” I smiled, taking the glass, and I took a sip from the drink.
If no one was ever good to me, my gamma would definitely make a difference.
I didn't know why he was always good to me, but his support was almost enough for me to hold on.
“Why are you so beautiful?” I heard Chris say to Amanda from a distance, shifting my attention once again to their dancing figures.
Amanda giggled as she looked at me.
“Do you want to train with me later?” Asher asked.
“Yeah, sure.” I said, trying to hold myself from letting a tear fall down my eyes, I wasn't going to be the weak one.
Back then, when everyone wanted Chris to get a mate since he didn't have one, he had chosen Amanda, but she rejected him and chose a more older, powerful, and richer Alpha.
At that time I was still a normal human who had just finished college before I was bitten by Chris's father, which was considered a fucking mistake. I was brought to the pack when strange things started happening to me.
The stupid and native twenty-year-old me sensed Chris as my mate, and afterwards we got married.
It was funny how I was chosen to become the makeover, the side piece.
I helped him grow the pack and business, and when Chris became listed as one of the powerful Alpha's, Amanda came back to reap from where she sowed nothing, just because her Alpha went bankrupt.
“I want to fix this relationship, Amanda.” Amanda seemed to had said something, which I didn't hear, and Chris responded.
I lowered my heated face in embarrassment.
Clenching my jaws, I strengthened myself as I stood up. What the fucking heck did they want to fix?
I walked to them and said, “Amanda, what did you really come back to the pack to do? To take my mate or just for money? Are you so shameless to say to yourself, ‘He’s married, so I should find someone else?’ What do you take yourself for?” I said with a forced smile.
What did they think of me? A doormat they could just step on at any time?
“We actually should get her a more powerful alpha.” I turned to Chris as I added, “Right?”
Both their jaws dropped, and Amanda let out a fake cry as tears started gathering in her eyes.
Wow! That was fast.
Just as he wanted to hold her,
“Chris?” I dragged his name, trying to suppress my wolf, Emily.
Chris snapped his head towards me as he glared.
Amanda ran off, and he went off with her.
It was the nerves for me.
Gosh I didn't know how long I was going to hold off.
“Luna, do you need me to walk you back to your room?” Asher walked to me and said, I smiled and walked towards the hall exit. There was no need for me to be there.
“I'm tired of our mate's behavior; there is just a little more I can take.” I heard Emi say.
Emi was not like the other wolves; she was like me; we couldn't take too much hurt from those we loved, but at times she was as powerful or even more powerful than an alpha could be, maybe because I was bitten. I didn't know why.
Just as I was about to climb the stairs, I felt a sharp pain in my belly as I gasped for air.
Gripping my stomach, I collapsed to the ground and Asher rushed over.
"Luna, are you okay?” I rushed to the bathroom and emptied my stomach in the toilet.
The pain went down for a while. I lifted myself and rinsed my mouth.
“Luna! Luna, are you okay?” Asher was outside the bathroom, knocking at the door. At least I still had one person who was worried about me.
I couldn't believe Chris would fuck Amanda again for the second time.
The first time he did, he promised it was a mistake and it was never going to happen again. Well, his promise held no water.
The Werewolf bond was something that could push you to the extreme. One could feel almost everything the partners felt, but the cheating part was the worst pain one could ever bear.
Amanda wasn't first the girl he fucked after we mated; I guess I was the only one who thought our relationship as “important”.
“I am fine.” I opened the door, and instead of our room, I went to the guest room. I didn't want to see them in the act.
“Luna, why are you in the guest room?” Asher asked.
“Maybe I should stay here with you.” He said, and I turned to look at him, “I mean outside, don't worry, I won't let anyone in.”
Jeez, if only my mate could understand me a little bit like Asher did.
Bittered and frustrated, I waited until morning but heard nothing from Chris. I took a bath. Thankfully, I had some clothes in the room, so I picked out a yellow dress and put it on.
“Good morning, Luna.” As soon as I opened the door, Asher’s voice greeted me.
Sometimes I really wondered why Asher was way too nice to me, and sometimes I felt like he was rather interested in me, like he had some sort of romantic feelings but I was his Alpha’s mate, so was that even possible?
“Good morning, Asher.” I smiled at him.We didn't talk much, but he was really particular when it came to me and my safety. Sometimes I felt comfortable with him, then when I was with Chris, I didn't know why.As I walked to mine and Chris's room after I sent Asher off, the pain I had felt earlier once again returned. I sat down on the closest coach, as I was already in the main sitting room, for a minute to let it pass, clenching my teeth together to keep me from screaming.Slowly, I drag myself up the coach and through the walkway. I met with several omegas eager to take my things as my mate commanded, but from the ugly look I always get from them, they were too uncomfortable with my presence, and everywhere was unusually quiet, or should I say empty?I was tired and didn't have time to question it when a burning sensation spread across my chest, making every breath unbearable. I couldn't scream even if I wanted to; my lungs and organs were on fire.I climbed up the stairs to the th
Gosh! This guy was so confused.Suddenly, Amanda came into the room and let out a cry, and Chris jerked away from me and ran to her.“See? You couldn't even forget her for a minute, like you did me for a whole damn week. You know what? I can't do this!” I immediately walked out of the room, leaving them both to enjoy their privacy.I gave up everything for Chris. My family, my best friend... I lost everyone I ever loved for Chris! My dad and my nanny were the only ones in my family until I met David, my best friend. He became rather distant after I told him about the bite, so we weren't in contact until 3 years ago, when I heard he met the beta of the black shade pack, one of the most powerful packs in New York, who turned out to be his mate.Chris's pack, the black Moon pack, was nothing close to their power.I picked up my phone for the first time in 5 years and ran out of the pack house and into the forest since there was hardly any network in the pack house.I went through my phon
Amanda;“No… no, not my baby!” I cried, feeling the warmth of the fake blood trickling down my legs. This was it—the final act to win Chris back.“I... I didn’t do anything!” Abigail stammered, her eyes darting between Chris and me, shock plastered across her face. She looked too stunned to form a coherent thought.“Yes, you did! I saw Luna push her down!” Another maid spoke up, and I let the tears flow freely, clutching my stomach as if in pain.“Oh… what did I do to deserve this?” I choked out, casting a pitiful look at Chris, who was staring daggers at Abigail.“What did you do to deserve this?” His words were a low, dangerous growl, each one laced with fury. “Enough!” he shouted, his voice echoing through the room. His fists clenched, and I could almost feel the rage radiating from him.“You’re not fit to be Luna—not someone as vile and troublesome as you!” he spat in disgust. “After everything I did for you, accepted you… But maybe you really are a witch. Maybe that’s why you can
Abigail’s POV"Abigail!" Asher called, running after me.I didn’t stop. I didn’t even turn around."Do not come any closer to me, Asher—" I swallowed hard, my chest tightening. "Or should I say Alpha Asher?" My voice cracked with pain, but I refused to let it break completely."I—I didn’t mean to lie to you..." he said, his steps slowing.I flinched, taking a step back. "But you did," I whispered, shaking my head. "I trusted you, Asher. Why? Why would you lie?" My voice trembled as hot tears slid down my face. Everything felt too much—like the walls were closing in, like I was drowning in a sea of betrayals."I was going to tell you...""When?" I cut in, finally looking at him. "After I had already bowed before you? In front of your people?" A bitter laugh escaped my lips. "Is that when you would’ve told me?"I let out a shaky breath, my heart aching as memories of him filled my mind—his arms around me when I cried, the way he looked at me like I was the only person in the world, the
Asher's POV "Alpha Asher," Daniel called, darting a look at Abigail who stood grumpily beside me."You left in such a hurry, I presume everything is fine?" He asked and I nodded, moving closer to hold Abigail's hands. She shifted away, pulling her hands behind her back."Abigail—please," I begged, staring into her eyes before reaching for her hands again, intertwining her fingers in mine."I swear by the moon goddess Abigail, I'll tell you everything you need to know, please, I just need you out there with me," I added, pulling her closer to me.My heart tugged painfully with the tears that welled in her eyes.I had lied, and there was no way to justify it even if there were a thousand and one ways to.She swallowed hard and turned to me, a small smile played on her face while I leaned closer to wipe the tears that welled in the corner of her eyes and kissed her forehead before leading her out."Alpha Asher," The elders called out as I walked into the room, their eyes darting betwee
Abigail's POV "This meeting is over," Asher declared, still holding my hands firmly as he led me away from the crowd to his room "Abi," He called, closing the door behind us."You can let go of my hand now," I said, pulling my hands out of his, even though I could feel the absence of the warmth of his hands."I pretended to be a gamma Abigail, I lied about my position because I wanted to protect you," He stared, while I stared wordlessly at him."And I... When I came here in search of a mate, you were already mated to Christopher—" He paused, swallowing hard."You had no excuse to not have told me about whatever it was, I became friends with you, I was closer to you than anyone in this pack, and I confided in you with every single thing," I said, my voice breaking with emotion.I clenched my fists, trying to keep myself together, but the pain of his betrayal clawed at me from the inside."Abi…" Asher took a step closer, his expression filled with regret. "I know I hurt you. I shou
Christopher's POV "Fuck!" I yelled, throwing my fist into the wall, my bones cracked with astounding pain that shot through it."How dare he!" I yelled, kicking the glass table in front of me to its ruin."Christopher," Amanda called from outside, her voice as feeble and weak as it always has."You don't have to get all flared up because of Abigail, because of that bitch..." She drawled, stepping closer to hold me."Shut the stupid fuck up and get away from me!" I cussed, throwing her hands off me.She plopped back to the floor, letting out a startled gasp as she scrambled away from me.Trembling with rage, I ran a hand through my hair, my chest heaving. Abigail. That traitorous bitch. After everything I had given her, after all the years she had spent by my side, she was throwing it all away for him.Asher.I clenched my fists again, my knuckles already bruised from punching the wall. That bastard had played the long game, hadn't he? Pretending to be nothing more than a Gamma while
Abigail's POV "Thank you for trusting me once again, Abigail," Asher exclaimed, heaving a relieved sigh before pulling me into his arms.I didn't know how much I had been needing the warmth of his body on mine before he pulled me into his arms.Soft, clean, warm."Abigail!" A frantic knock on the door made me shudder in Asher's arms.A small hiss tore through my lips as I moved away from his arms to get the door."You don't have to go, I'll check the door and see who it is," He offered but I held him back."It's Amanda, I recognize her voice," I said."Is that not even more reason why you shouldn't see her?" He asked."No, I just want to see what scheme she's up to now," I said and took strides to the door, opening it just in time for her to hit the door again."What do you want?" I asked, my gaze grazing past her bruised throat, red eyes, and bleeding elbows. She stilled before swallowing, her eyes raking the environment."What do you want Amanda?" I asked again, leaning by the door
Asher's POV"She was sound asleep." I took one more glance at her before sitting back on the chair."What was that mysterious power I felt earlier? It was ominous and dark." I couldn't believeAbigail possessed such strong powers. For the first time in a while, I felt terror in my veins. A destructive power was what my matepossessed. I had vowed to protect her, but this time she protected me. She tried to avenge me,thinking I was going to die. She risked herself for me.I took one more look at Abigail, walked closer to her, and planted a kiss on her lips. The woundon my chest stung a bit, but it was bearable. The wizard Zed had given me a sort of potion which helped me in removing the bullet andreducing the pain. I was lucky to have held her back in time thanks to the wizard's help.I was lucky to have stopped her from being a killer. Surprisingly, all the other people she foughtwho were injured and didn't have a vital injury."Asher," I heard her call, finally waking up from
Asher's POV'We won... we were outnumbered, outmatched, but we won.' I smiled faintly, blood drying on my skin, the battlefield littered with the groans of the wounded. Though it pained me that Christopher had gotten away, I knew deep down... the war was over.I took a step forward, facing the remnants of Christopher's pack. Their faces were torn between fear and confusion, the pain of betrayal by their Alpha heavy in their eyes."Your Alpha, the one you placed your faith in, has run away. He left you to die on the battlefield," I said, voice loud and firm, echoing across the clearing. "There's no honour in dying for a coward. If you wish to live, if you wish to belong to a future, lay down your weapons and stand with me. I will protect you. I will lead you. From now on, I will be your Alpha."A tense silence followed... then a voice rose from the crowd."He abandoned us!" a tall, muscular wolf with a scar across his cheek shouted, stepping forward. "Christopher promised us victory, p
Daniel's POVI could see the smile beaming from Asher's face... he was so happy. I had never seen him smile like that, not since I've known him, and that's been a long time. He was truly happy with Abigail. His plan had worked.I had never imagined it could. Fighting a war against the wolf hunters head-on had always seemed like a death sentence. But Asher, he had crafted a brilliant plan, something no one dared to consider possible. When he first brought it up, even I had doubted it. The sorcerers were powerful, too powerful, and they didn't concern themselves with our wars. They did their own bidding. But for the first time, they were fighting beside us.Wolves and witches... united. It still sounded impossible even now, watching it unfold. Asher had planted the seed, but it took more than just hope to make it happen. When I first met with the Sorcerer Supreme, he refused. Cold and without empathy. He wanted no part of our affairs.I was persistent, but that wasn't enough either. It
Abigail's POV "Abi..." Her final whisper faded as her eyes closed. Before I could even react, Daniel had already struck the killing blow to our attacker.I stood frozen, unable to believe what I was seeing. Blood spattered across my clothes, warm and sticky against my skin. 'What have I done? Why did it have to be her?' Thoughts raced through my mind as I dropped to my knees beside Amanda. Her breathing was slow but she was alive. The gunshot wound was deep but had miraculously missed her vital organs. I needed to get her to medical help immediately."Why would she do this?" I whispered, cradling her head. "We weren't even friends. Why risk her life for mine?"I had hated Amanda for the cruel things she and Christopher had done to me. I'd wanted revenge; to make her suffer tenfold for the pain she caused, but I never wanted her dead. Never this.Christopher's ambush party was being killed off around us. Dawn was approaching, and I needed to return before Asher discovered I was gone.
Abigail's POVAmanda had always been known for her deceptive skill, so it was quite hard for me to trust her when Daniel came to me. Looking at her from the window, I could see it in her eyes, this time, she wasn't lying. She was desperate. My heart skipped a beat at the thought that she might have changed. 'She possibly couldn't have changed in just a few days,' I thought, narrowing my eyes. 'Maybe she's just a great actress…' I shrugged the thoughts away. I didn't have time to second guess my instincts. Her voice rang out again, loud and broken. She screamed my name like her life depended on it, and maybe it did. 'Maybe I should hear her out… give her the benefit of the doubt,' I muttered to my wolf, letting out a breath. 'She wouldn't be able to harm us after all.'"Let her speak," I commanded, my voice echoed with authority. Daniel hesitated for only a second before releasing her. Amanda fell to her knees instantly, her shoulders slumped in exhaustion or surrender, I couldn't
Amanda's POV"I must leave... before he comes back to kill me."I whispered the words aloud, barely recognizing my own voice. My hands trembled as they cradled my bruised stomach. The pain in my body was nothing compared to the agony twisting in my heart."Christopher is a monster... how could he hit me? How could he strike me knowing I'm carrying his child?" I whispered, a tear slipping down my cheek."No...."A bitter laugh almost escaped my lips, but it died just as quickly. I pressed my back to the cold wall, closing my eyes for a moment."He doesn't love me. I know that. I've always known that. But he could've at least shown some compassion. Not for me... but for our unborn children. But no, his pride, his obsession with Abigail, it means more to him than life, than family."I opened my eyes and stared around the room, the lavish prison I'd been trapped in for months. It was beautiful on the outside, but it held no warmth. No safety. No love. Just lies. Just fear."I can't stay h
Christopher's POV "Asher thinks it's over. But it's not. I'll show him what I'm made of. I'll make sure he loses Abigail."I muttered bitterly as I stormed into my room, the rage in my chest barely contained. The moment the door slammed behind me, I halted in surprise. My mother was already there, sitting gracefully on the edge of my bed, like she'd been waiting for me."Mother?" I blinked. What could she possibly want? She turned to me with that signature calculating smile of hers. That smile meant only one thing: she had a plan. And if there was one thing I could always count on, it was that Mother never planned to fail. "You're back early," she said softly, folding her hands on her lap."I couldn't stand watching Asher parade around like he owns the world. Like Abigail belongs to him. He's stolen everything from me. My respect, he has humiliated me." I started pacing the room. I tried to place my hand on my chin, but the sting I got reminded me of the beating I had received from
Ashers POV That silenced them again. The weight of their judgment still hung in the air, but none of them had more to say. Not yet.I turned on my heel, heading for the door. I paused, hand on the handle.'Oh—and prepare the warriors. Tonight. We train, we strengthen, we guard what’s ours. Let the hunters come. We’ll be ready.""And with that, I stepped out of the room—ready to fight for everything I had, even if I had to do it alone."Abigail..." I muttered at the sight of Abigail at the door.Abigail stood in the doorway, chin high, though I could see the tremble in her fingers as she clenched them at her sides."What are you doing here?" I asked and she let out a tense smile, pushing her way into the room."Talk of the devil," one elder muttered under his breath. The others shifted uncomfortably, eyes darting between her and me."I know this isn’t the best time," she began, her voice steady despite the storm in her eyes, "but I love Asher."The words hung in the air like thunder.
Asher's POV "Alpha Asher," Daniel called, walking towards me."The elders are waiting for you," He relayed and I nodded, turning to Abigail."Daniel will take you back to your room and I'll come immediately I'm done here," I said but she stared at me, worry filling her eyes."I—i can go with you, if you need to face them and talk to them, I can stand with you," She offered.I reached out, brushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear, my gaze holding hers. She was brave—braver than anyone gave her credit for. But I couldn’t let her walk into that room, not yet."I know you would," I said softly. "But this is something I need to handle alone—for now.""Her lips parted like she wanted to argue, but she stopped herself, nodding reluctantly."I just don’t want you to fight for me alone," she whispered, her voice barely audible.I cupped her cheek. "You’re not alone, Abigail. You never will be again. But let me face them this time. Let me show them where I stand.""She gave a small nod,
