Asher's POV.

I peered through the front of the house, scanning the entire environment and coming up with nothing but people who have been led to their demise.

I kind of pitied them because they didn't even know what they were up to. It was a pity that most of them didn't know that they were going to meet their waterloo.

"Let's go out and fight." Abigail urged but I dragged her arm backwards.

Abigail's POV. "No, stop! I can't take this anymore!" The screams of a woman locked behind bars reached my ears and I grew moved by compassion to help her out of the mess she was currently in. I knew that I was probably having an overstretch but what could I do to make things easier? My legs got tied together as I moved, it was almost as though somebody had decided that I didn't deserve any form of freedom and they were insistent on making sure that I lost everything. That had to be the reason for the delay I was facing when trying to get out of the trap I was in.It was easier said than done because trying to break out of it almost seemed like a huge rebellion streak, and the screams got louder but now there was a catch. The woman had gotten engulfed in fire. All attempts to break free from the clutches that I had been miserably tied to were nothing but void. "Asher!" I screamed, as the fire drew closer, circling me, threatening to pull me into the circle.I was very committe

Asher's POV.My eyes were solely fixated on Abigail who had become a shell of herself even though she would never admit to that. I believed that she was one of the most important people that I would ever have the fortune of meeting so I was intentional about not blowing this chance. It would almost seem like she had no choice but that wasn't in any way true. She was a woman who had decided on what she wanted out of life and it was wonderful how much could be gotten if a person put their minds to it. I wasn't going to act pompous or believe that she could not take certain decisions herself because that would be expressively reducing her ability. My wolf was having a hard time breathing with her not being by our side but I had also determined not to push her into doing something that she will probably resent me for forever. A lot of mess had been going on in the past. It didn't mean that there was no chance at remedy unless she was insistent about not giving my people any. I didn

Abigail's POV. My return to the place where I had been severely rejected wasn't a smooth one, but I was focused on what I wanted to achieve and insisted that I was going to get it whether through hook or crook. Nobody was going to stop me from having the best time of my life but on my terms and conditions. It would be stupid to come from where I had been and then accept such ridicule. The most important part about having whatever this was was the fact that there was always going to be a showdown of power, I bumped into Asher as soon as I stepped out. I felt nothing but intense annoyance at what this had become. It wasn't one of those things that I could have ever avoided but at the same time I could always deal with it squarely and pretend like it never existed. "You look just exactly how I remember. How did I manage to fumble such a beauty like you?" He whispered as though he could not believe his ears and, as much as I would have loved to smile I decided not to look the slight

Asher's POV. I was very committed to finding help but not at the detriment of everything that I held dear. Most of the people who pretended like they were about to help me just wanted the slice of the cake and I was here to disappoint them as much as I could. I wasn't going to compromise my standards just to suit their narratives or egos. I was very particular about what I wanted out of life and no matter what, I was going to get it. It might just take a longer while but I would achieve it and that was the only motivation I needed. Who needed false promises, when you knew that you could have your hands on the best things in life and emerge a winner, as opposed to just letting life do its thing and still end up a loser?I had various reasons not to speak to Abigail myself because we were going to bring in so much emotion and then destroy what truly needed to be done. I wanted nothing more than a solid foundation that would give birth to more issues which would end up solving the pr

Abigail's POV. My steps carried so much weight, more than I expected. I had absolutely nothing to be worried about but something kept telling me that I needed to be very careful. Being very careful was going to help me in particular instead of other people and I wanted to seize that opportunity. It didn't come easy, but it was worth it. Mandy stared at me. "I want you to join us. Alpha Asher misses you and I would like for us to have a conversation about that. I wouldn't want us to lose out on a lot of goodness simply because we refuse to take the right step." She cajoled. The issue here wasn't me returning to that place, it was the fact that my return could cause more stress than necessary. I would have been very happy if I didn't have to form any alliance with Asher, because my trust level had depleted, and I would be deceiving myself if I pretended that everything was fine. I believed that these guys were just having the time of their life attempting to bring me back into some
