After all, I've been through, after everything I've done for them, how could they betray me like this?

I stared at her number, "Did my mother know about the deed?" I repeated, my bloodshot eyes fixed on him.

He stood there with his hand tucked neatly inside his pocket, wearing a calm expression, while his secretary trembled in fear. "Does it matter if she knows?" he responded with a question.

"Hahahaha, you're right. It doesn't matter," I said bitterly. "It would make no sense if a daughter she hadn't seen in four years suddenly returned and got married without her consent." I stared at the number again, my body shaking with anger. "It never mattered. Again and again, I had to go through hell for their sake. I watched my life flash before my very eyes from the day I knew how to speak, all because I had parents who valued their bank account more than their child's safety." The urge to destroy the entire house washed over me again. I gritted my teeth and clutched my fist with the phone
