CHAPTER FOUR

ALPHA KONAN'S POV

I remembered how Elyan my wolf sprung up when my eyes caressed Madeline's bare body. It was a one time thing and she has already taken in. Lately I had been looking for ways to get rid of her suitably. I had unfinished business with her and my revenge is imminent. But as it stands now, I had to put revenge in the corner.

I paced round the room, my mind swirled with conflicting emotions. She was now carrying my child and I needed the child and a mate to establish my full authority in the pack. She would be useful as a fake mate to ward off and quell the problem with the pack elders about the issue of choosing a mate and having kids.

Announcing her and the baby in the next pack meeting would be the best and the meeting was less than three hours to go.

"Dan", I called.

"Yes, Alpha Konan", he replied from behind the door, summon Madeline here. "You mean the servant girl who was here today?"

"Daaan, dragging his name. Is there any other Madeline in the whole of this mansion, I questioned coldly".

"Apologies Alpha Konan", I will get her here now.

"Hurry", I replied curtly.

Under the subdued lightening, I sat behind my table and drummed my fingers lightly on it. The city's distant sounds filled the air. Elyan's senses heightened once more. I paused, closed my eyes and felt the rhythm of my own heartbeat. I contemplated the new relationship I was going to establish with Madeline. Elyan's energy coursed through me and I could feel him coming forward.

"Elyan, what is it", I questioned. What exactly is bringing you forward? Right on cue, a knock was heard at the door. Who is it?

Madeline, Alpha Konan. The low pitched voice signalled to me that she was really the one at the door. Come in, I bellowed. She entered my study still not able to meet my face while I sat still behind my desk. I cleared my throat and began.

It is confirmed you are pregnant with my child and as the Alpha and leader of the pack, I am going to take responsibility for the unborn child and you till the baby is born. In lieu to this, I am going to contract you to be my mate. The papers on the table are the paperwork for the contract. I have signed mine. It is now time for you to sign yours.

MADELEINE'S POV

I went to the table and picked up the contract paper lying on the table. Alpha Konan's unexpected proposal to contract me as his mate left me in awe and astonishment. This was really an unexpected turn of events. I was expecting anything, but not this. My mind raced unable to comprehend the implications that an unintentional one night stand caused me.

I began reading the contract and upon signing the contract, the servant girl Madeline is relieved of her servant duties and given a befitting room for her and the baby in the lady's quarters. She is only allowed to eat and drink only food and tonics which are paramount for the health and growth of the baby. She is to only appear in front of me when I need her to perform her duties, which involves showing up by my side as my mate when there are pack gatherings or pack events and satisfying my raw nature, and on no account should she interfere in my private life. Pack politics is not her business and she should desist from discussing it with me or anyone. Lastly, she is not to come in contact with any man.The only man she's allowed to come in contact with is Alpha Konan. Once the child clocks a year, the contract is over and she is to leave the mansion and never set eyes or communicate with the child.

Each clause written in the contract represented a choice that would alter the course of my life henceforth. The room echoed with silent struggles of my emotions. I was not going to agree to this. "This contract isn't fair to me and I am unwilling to sign this". Alpha Konan furrowed his eyebrows on my defiance. "Madeline, he thundered my name, you don't have any right to refute the contract and the contract is not up for negotiation".

"All these on the contract looks like you are restraining me and restraining my life. I admit, I am with your child, but this is not how it should go. You want to turn me to a miserable person during pregnancy and after pregnancy". I held back the tears that was about to fall to my cheeks.

I could see red in Alpha Konan's eye, ready to kill and devour. He flashed in front of me and he wrapped his hands swiftly on my neck and the next I found myself was on the door behind me. "Madeline don't dare me, don't test my waters. What was your plan when you broke the news to me, what were you really expecting, ugh.....? Were you expecting a princess treatment? Were you expecting everyone to be on your beck and call? This is the height of mercy I can give you because you are carrying my child you lowly servant. Sincerely you are of no use to me and if not for the mistake, why would I allow a lowly vessel like you carry my child and the future Alpha of this pack?"

"So listen to me attentively. Sign these documents and get your filthy self out of my study". All the while he spoke, I closed my eyes and the squeeze became tighter and he was on the verge of breaking my pharynx into two. At a point, my wolf threatened to step in but I suppressed it. It must and should not happen unless I was ready to breathe my last in the hands of Alpha Konan. I had just witnessed Alpha Konan's physical power and it wasn't one to be trifled with. He let go of my neck and I fell to the ground. He threw the documents and a pen to me and I had to sign my death sentence with shaky hands. I could not protest, I knew I did not stand a chance to win against Alpha Konan. I just had to obey Alpha Konan's ridiculous rules. I surrendered and took my wobbly knees to the door.

"Stop, his voice halted me in my tracks. I would not want my newly contracted mate leaving my study dejected. Collect yourself before you go. A servant lady will be with you shortly. She will prep you for the upcoming pack meeting. I need to announce my new mate and the news of the pregnancy to them. What do you think princess? He lifted my jaws suddenly making my neck crack".

"It is okay Alpha Konan, I said between sobs, your wish is my command". "Good!!! that's more like it, he said. I hope we both have a stress free collaboration void of defiance, he smirked".
