Maya’s POV

Alexander walked into the room and I couldn’t help but feel nervous as well as wonder why he suddenly came to my room. His presence was enlightening to command respect and the room grew thick with tension.

“Maya,” he started, turning to face me and I found myself unable to look away from him as he continued. “There’s an important event happening tomorrow. It’s a dinner party to celebrate my mother’s birthday and we’ll be attending it together. There, I will introduce you to everyone as me fiancée.”

My heart fluttered and knots formed in my throat as I stared at him in dumb founded. “Your fiancée?” I repeated, my voice barely above a whisper, I had forgotten what I was to him.

Alexander nodded, his expression serious. “Yes, and not just that,” he continued, his tone brooking no argument. “You will also be introduced as the future queen of our organization- the mafia queen to be.”

I felt a surge of disbelief was over me at his revelation, the weight of his words settling heavily on my shoulders. Me? A mafia queen? Everything that had been happening since I arrived at this mansion had made me feel like I was in a nightmare. I swallowed the knot that had formed in my throat, realizing that that was now my reality.

“I came to inform you that early tomorrow, you’ll have makeup artists over to get you ready for the party,” he explained further, his eyes dark. “You must dress to impress and show everyone that you are the proper choice for your new position. Understood? And under no circumstance must anyone find out about our contract or smell that this is all pretense.”

I nodded slowly, feeling a sense of determination welling up inside me. Despite the pressure and uncertainty of what I’m to expect, I knew that I could not avoid to falter. This party was going to be my chance to prove myself and show Alexander and every other person that pull be present at the party that I was capable of leading beside Alexander whether I was truly his wife to be it not.

“Yes, I do,” I replied with a nod, looking at him with determination. “I’ll make sure not to let you down.”

He gave me a curt nod, but he didn’t take his eyes away from me. Finally, he looked away and stared at me from head to toe, making me feel very sef aware. I was standing in front of him in nothing other than very short shorts and a cropped top.

His eyes roaming over my body made me realize how exposed I was and my face turned red with embarrassment. He stared at me intensely and shiver coursed through my body and my skin burned with something I couldn’t quite place my hands on. A lump formed in my throat and I tried to swallow it but I quickly looked away from him before I do anything stupid.

He walked closer to me, leaning forward and my mouth fell open. My blood ran cold and my heart started racing from how close he was to me. His eyes were too intense so I looked away from him, he smirked before he stood straight and walked past me, bumping my shoulders gently before he walked out of the room and shut the door behind him.

I was still frozen in place. But, when I heard the door shut, I quickly regained myself and let out a small sigh. I quickly walked to the door and locked it before turning and resting my head against it. My hands were trembling and my heart was reaching and I couldn’t help but think that Alexander had wanted to kiss me.

I shook my head, snapping out of it. Why would he think of something like that? He would never be attracted to someone like me.

But I couldn’t help but wonder why his eyes had darkened when he stared at me, why I felt pulled to him even though I knew how stupid it was. Alexander was a dangerous man and it would be foolish of me to fall for someone that had taken me as a way to pay off my father’s debt.

Letting out another sigh, I walked back to my bed and pushed the stupid the lights away. All I had to do was sleep it off, by morning u would back to being myself.

When I laid in the bed, rhe way Alexander had looked at me kept replaying in my head and I found it hard to fall asleep.

After trying for a very long time, I finally fell asleep. But after what felt like few minutes, my sleep was disturbed by the sounds of knock on the door.

I let out a groan as I slowly opening my eyes, wondering who it could be that was disturbing my sleep. “Maya,” a familiar voice called. “Wake up. It’s time for you to start getting ready.”

I sat up in bed, confused by the words that I had heard, I turned over and looked at the wall clock. And that was only when I saw that noon already.

What? I had barely even slept, how had it gotten so late into the day.

I quickly got out of bed hurriedly walked to the door, I unlocked it and opened the door, realizing that it was Anna that had been calling for me. Behind her was a whole team of stylists and makeup artists. They all greeted me with bright smiles and their energies were contagious.

“Good afternoon, sleepyhead!” Anna teased, her laughter ringing through the hallway. “We need to get you ready for the dinner party. You know you’ll be meeting your mother in-law tonight.”

My face heated up and I opened the door further, ushering them in. The team immediately started bringing out their tools and I mentally made a note to never sleep so late into the day again.

I let out a small sigh to prepare myself for whatever was going to happen that night before I walked to the bathroom to take a quick shower and brush my teeth. I turned on the water, enjoying its warmth.

Memories of the previous night when Alexander had come over to my room replayed in my head but I pushed away, focusing on taking my bath and going back so I could get dressed.

After I wa sidne bathing, I slipped into a gray colored comfortable robe and walked back into the room. Immediately they noticed my presence, they turned to me with bright smiles, I looked around the room and saw that they were already done setting up.

Returning their smiles, I quickly walked towards the chair that had been placed in front of the mirror and allowed them work their magic on me.

Maya’s POVThe evening had already taken an overwhelming turn, but as I stood beside Alexander, the real weight of my position started sinking in. His mother held the mic, her eyes alight with pride, her voice carrying that warm tone that usually makes people feel like family. We were talking before she had excused herself and walked to the middle of the room. “Ladies and gentlemen, Alexander has something special he’d like to share with you all.” Her words rippled through the crowd, and suddenly, every face turned toward us. Alexander stepped forward, his hand resting firmly on my back, and I felt an odd mix of pride and nervousness as I realized what he was about to do. “Tonight,” he announced, his voice carrying an authority that made the room fall silent, “I want to introduce you to my fiancée, my future wife, and our Mafia Queen-to-be, Maya.” As he took my hand and guided me to stand beside him, my pulse raced. Applause erupted around us, and I forced a polite smile, knowing t

Alexander’s POVI stood in the living room, adjusting my cuff links and inhaling deeply as I braced myself for the evening ahead because I would be introducing Maya as my wife to be. I turned around and there she was at the edge of the stairs.I was thrown off by how beautiful and captivating Maya appeared in the dress she was wearing. I had felt the same way earlier when we were shopping but I had just put it off but now looking at her look so… I don’t even know was just overwhelming. She looked elegant but at the same time alluring and eatable and for reasons I could not fathom, I was bothered by how beautiful she looked and how she was making me feel all sort of things. I had drawn back from kissing her when I had gone to tell her about the dinner we were attending tonight. It had been so hard to pull myself away from her but I had to stay focused and keep my distance from her. She walked to where I was and I held her hand and led her out to the car that was waiting for her so we

Maya’s POVDisappointment washed over me as Alexander pulled away, his smirk evident in the curve of his lips. I had hoped for a different outcome, but his teasing chuckle only served to deepen my sense of dejection.“What were you expecting?” He asked, his tone teasing as he let out a small laugh. I turned red with embarrassment and I loved away from him, struggling to find the proper words to say to him. “I… no- I wasn’t expecting anything,” I stuttered. Before I could think of anything else to say, he moved closer to me, raised his hand and brushed the stray starves of my hair away from my face before tucking it behind my ear. His touch was gentle and tingles spread across my body. I couldn’t help but feel a flicker of hop reignite within me at his tender gesture.“You look very beautiful, Maya,” he said. I was surprised by his compliment and my eyes widened as a blush crept up my cheek.I tried to find what to say to him or even compliment him, but my brain wasn’t working. “Tha

Maya’s POVAs I settled into the chair, the stylists got to work, their nimble fingers skillfully weaving through my hair as they began to style it. While one person was coming out the knots from my hair, the other was hearing up the curler and curling my hair into loose waves. The makeup artists were also working at the same time, applying what looked like foundation and primer into my face, dabbing it into my skin until when it perfect early sat on it. They moved to my eyelids, telling me to close my eyes before lining them and putting eyeshadow on it. I opened my eyes and they coated my eyelashes with mascara, making them look longer and fuller than they naturally were, they put some blush on my face, highlighting my cheeks and giving a gentle glow. As each of them worked on every part of my head, I couldn’t help but feel nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. Each stroke of their brush and dab of makeup on my face was a step closer to making me look amazing. I looked at

Maya’s POVWe finally got back to the mansion after what felt like hours and I stared at the house in appreciation. I still hadn’t gotten used to how magnificent the mansion looked. It was like a view out of the books and the soft glow of the sun setting bathed the building and as much as I’d hate to admit it, I loved living in somewhere as beautiful as this. As I stepped out of the car, the staffs quickly moved to unload the shopping bags, their efficiency a stark contrast to the nervousness that I was feeling and I couldn’t seem to understand why I was feeling nervous. I offered them a polite thank you before turning my attention to Alexander, who had already begun to make his way towards the entrance.“Wait,” I called out, hurrying to catch up to him. “Thank you for today, once again. I really appreciate.”Alexander turned to me, his expression unreadable as he regarded me for a moment. “It was nothing,” he replied curtly, his tone distant. But I felt a glimmer of hope because at
