Alexandro didn't leave.

Throughout that morning, he sat in the chair beside my bed. Every now and then he would get up, walk to the window, look outside with his hands in his pockets, then sit back down. His hand still held mine, his fingers gently stroking the back of my hand.

His phone rang several times. He answered in a low voice, spoke briefly, then hung up. Fragments of sentences I caught: "postpone the meeting", "handle it yourself", "I can't right now".

Alexandro didn't leave.Throughout that morning, he sat in the chair beside my bed. Every now and then he would get up, walk to the window, look outside with his hands in his pockets, then sit back down. His hand still held mine, his fingers gently stroking the back of my hand. His phone rang several times. He answered in a low voice, spoke briefly, then hung up. Fragments of sentences I caught: "postpone the meeting", "handle it yourself", "I can't right now".Occasionally there was an irritated edge to his words, but he tried to hold back. His eyes would glance toward me from time to time, making sure I was still breathing.I lay still, staring at the ceiling, listening to his quiet voice, feeling the grip of his hand. There was guilt in my chest. He shouldn't be here. He should be at the office, handling business, doing the important things that had always been his world. Not sitting on an uncomfortable hospital chair, watching over a fat wife who fainted from a stupid diet.Around

I opened my eyes heavily. White ceiling, bright blinding lights, the sharp smell of medicine. I was in the hospital again. My head was spinning, my body felt weak, my throat was dry as if it hadn't touched water for days. I tried to move, but my hand was held back by something an IV drip hanging beside the bed."Lucia."I turned. Alexandro was standing by the bed. His face was tense, his jaw clenched, his eyes dark with dark circles underneath. His shirt was wrinkled, his hair disheveled like he hadn't slept all night, or maybe he really hadn't."Alex..." my voice came out hoarse. He didn't answer. He just looked at me with an unreadable expression. Angry? Worried? Both?"Ah, you're awake." A sweet voice from the other side.I turned. Doctor Reina was standing near the table, arranging something on a tray of medical instruments. Her white coat was neat, her hair was perfectly tied up, her face as beautiful as always. She smiled at me—a friendly, professional smile, as if nothing had e

He pulled me into his embrace. His still-damp body pressed against mine. His hands roamed my back, caressing, pressing, making me cling even closer to him. I could feel his heartbeat racing or perhaps it was my own.He lowered his head and kissed my neck. A hungry kiss that left wet traces on my skin. I bit my lip to hold back a moan."Bedroom," he whispered in my ear. "Now."He took my hand and led me up the stairs to the room on the upper floor. I followed, my legs trembling, but I didn't stop. The bedroom door opened. The room was dark, lit only by moonlight streaming through the large window. A bed with crisp white sheets, candles in the corners of the room, and the faint scent of lavender. He released my hand and stood before me with dark, lust-filled eyes."To the bed," he said. "Crawl."I knelt, then crawled toward the bed. Every movement felt like a dance he was watching from behind. I could feel his eyes on every curve of my body, on every sway of my hips.At the edge of the

I froze mid-step. My feet felt rooted to the ground. Marco, who was opening the car door for me, also stopped, looking toward the villa with a wary expression.I turned.Alexandro stood at the villa's doorway. A black bathrobe was wrapped around his body, but it wasn't neat still slightly open at the chest."Where do you think you're going?" Alexandro asked.I swallowed. "You told me to go home.""And you're going?"I was confused. "Th-that's what you said."He walked closer. His steps were slow, but each step made my heart pound harder. Marco stepped back, creating distance.Alexandro stopped right in front of me. His height meant I had to look up. Up close, I could see droplets of water still clinging to his neck, to his firm jawline. The scent of soap and his warm body invaded my senses."You think I'd let you leave just like that?""B-but you said...""I said go home, but I didn't say you were allowed to leave."I fell silent, confused and afraid. He leaned in, bringing his face c

We were soaking in the warm pool. I sat across from Alexandro, my back against the stone wall. My body was submerged up to my shoulders, my hair wet and clinging to my neck. Across from me, Alexandro sat casually, his arms stretched out along the edge of the pool, his broad chest captivating me.I couldn't stop looking at him. His chiseled face, his strong jaw, his dark eyes that were now staring at me. Water ran down his chest, over his flat stomach, along the fine line of hair that disappeared into the water. Handsome, so handsome. I knew it was wrong, knew I shouldn't keep staring at him like this, but my eyes seemed to have a will of their own.Until he raised an eyebrow.I quickly looked away. My head turned to the side, pretending to look at the candles lined up around the pool. My heart was pounding, my cheeks felt hot, and I knew it wasn't from the steam."Why did you come here?" Alexandro asked."I already told you. I came to apologize," I answered."Only to apologize?"I bit

The bedroom door opened.A woman walked out of the bathroom, the one I had thought contained only Alexandro alone.I recognized her.Nadine.The woman from the hotel. The woman who had kissed Alexandro aggressively. The woman who had sent me mocking messages. The woman who was always present in every crack of my marriage. She walked gracefully, with long, confident strides. She stopped behind Alexandro, who was standing near the window, and wrapped her arms around him from behind. Her hands circled Alexandro's waist, her body pressing against my husband's back. She rested her chin on Alexandro's shoulder and smiled at me.I took one step back."I thought you came to apologize, but it turns out you just came to disturb him," Nadine said.I didn't answer. My eyes shifted to Alexandro.Nadine released her embrace. She walked closer, her steps casual, like a cat playing with its prey. She stopped right in front of me, only an arm's length away. Up close, she was even more beautiful, and I

“We’re getting married the day after tomorrow.” Alexandro’s voice was flat, as if he were announcing something completely ordinary. There was no hesitation, no emotion I could read on his face. Only that sharp gaze that had been traveling over my body from head to toe. I stood stiffly in front of

I remained standing in the living room for a few moments after Alexandro disappeared at the end of the staircase. My arm still throbbed faintly where he had gripped it. When I looked down, the marks of his fingers were still faintly visible on my reddened skin.I brushed over them slowly.Strangely

The priest began to recite the prayer in a steady voice that echoed throughout the church. I stood still beside Alexandro, my hands feeling stiff as I held the bouquet. The scent of lilies was too strong, almost making me dizzy."We are gathered here today to witness the marriage of Alexandro De Lu

The journey back felt much longer than when I left. Throughout the ride in the car, I held my small bag tightly against my chest as if it were the only thing keeping me calm. Streetlights passed by the window like shadows moving too quickly. The closer the car got to Alexandro’s house, the harder m
