Why can't I see her tears?

Ranveer’s POV

Today is the day Mr. Mathur promised to give me my money back so me and Harsh were going to his house to meet him.

We reached his house in twenty minutes and rang his doorbell and after few seconds he opened the door.

“Sir, Harsh?” he called us and by looking at his reaction I knew that he was surprised.

“Will you not let us in?” I asked.

“Come in,” he said and moved aside and after we got in he asked us to sit on the sofa and bought us two glasses of water and sat across us.

“Where do you work now?” I asked even though I knew he was not working

anywhere.

“I am not working anywhere sir,” he told me.

“But you left the office saying that you will search for a job nearby your house as your wife is ill,” I said.

“By the way how is your wife?” I asked and looked around.

“Has she gone somewhere?” I asked further.

“She is no more,” he told me.

“I am sorry to hear that,” I said.

“When did she pass away?” I asked.

“Sir I am sorry, I lied to you,” he said and I looked at Harsh.

“Why are you sorry?” I asked.

“I lied to you about my wife being ill. My wife died a long time ago,” he said as he came in front of me and got on his knees.

“I am extremely sorry sir, I became addicted to drinking and took money from you for drinking, and after leaving your company, I didn’t work anywhere and spent your money on drinking,” he said and I clutched both of my hands and stood up.

“You have spent my hard-earned money on drinking?” I asked.

I didn’t know he spent all the money on drinking.

“Here I was thinking, you took the money to cure your wife,” I said.

“I am sorry sir,” he said as he held my feet.

I didn’t like him kneeling down in front of me and touching my feet but I don’t know what to do.

The money I earned after working day and night, he spent all the money on drinking.

“Dad?” I heard a voice and turned around and was surprised to see the girl from the ice cream parlor.

“You lied about Mom?” she asked as he stood up.

“Naina, I can explain,” he said.

“What will you explain Dad? I thought you were working hard and earning money but you were drinking?” she shouted.

“I am sorry, Naina,” he apologized.

“How much you took from him?” he asked as he looked at me and her eyes widened.

Maybe she remembered that she met me at the ice cream parlor few months ago.

“Five lakhs,” I told her.

“And for how many years you are not working?” she asked.

“Five years,” he said.

“Half of the money I spent on your expenses and the other half I spent on drinking,” he said and I relaxed.

Thank god he was treating her right.

I don’t even know her but still my heart cares for her.

She is the girl whom I couldn’t forget.

For the past few months I am going from that route in the hopes of seeing her at the ice cream parlor but I never saw her there.

I even wanted to go to the orphanage and ask about her but I felt that would not seem right and dropped the plan.

I almost lost hope of seeing her again until today.

“I am extremely sorry on behalf of my Dad,” she said and I looked at her.

That day she had kept her hair open but today she was tying her hair.

She looks beautiful now also but she looks more beautiful when her hair is open and flowing down her back.

“You don’t have to be sorry,” I said and she looked at Dad.

“I was thinking you were working whole night and that’s why you cannot spend time with me and you were drinking?” she asked as tears rolled down her cheeks.

I want to go and wipe her tears.

I hate her tears.

I can’t see her cry.

I don’t know her but still seeing her like this is hurting me.

“Please give me a week, I will find a way to return you your money back,” he said.

“Only one week Mr. Mathur,” I said and was leaving but stopped midway and turned around.

“Is she your daughter?” I asked him.

“Yes sir, she is my daughter, Naina,” he told me.

“Okay and remember only one week,” I said and left his house.

“Why did you gave him an extension of a week sir?” Harsh asked.

“I also don’t know the answer to that. Anyways, let’s go. I will drop you at home,” I said and we sat in the car.

As I was going to start the car we came to know that the car is not starting.

“Sir, I will go and come back with a mechanic,” Harsh said and left hurriedly.

I got out and was leaning against the car and was looking at the closed door of Mr. Mathur.

Why was I searching for her for these past few months?

Why did I change my route in the hopes of seeing just a glimpse of her?

Why can’t I see her tears?

I don’t even know her.

After some time the door opened and Mr. Mathur came out and I saw another man came to meet him and they both were going somewhere.

“Sir I could not find any mechanic here. Let’s go by taxi and I will repair the car tomorrow morning and bring it to the office,” he said but I was busy looking at them.

“Harsh let’s follow them,” I said and Harsh looked at them.

I don’t know but I was feeling something fishy.

“Okay sir,” he said without any question and we followed them and after few minutes of walking they went inside a hotel.

I went and sat on the table behind them and Harsh sat beside me.

“I promise you, I will treat Naina like my own daughter,” we heard a voice.

“I know that Naina will be happy in your house,” Mr. Mathur said.

“I am glad that you agreed to give me five lakhs,” he continued.

“Don’t thank me. We are future in-laws now. I am so happy that my son will get married to your daughter. As you know after my son’s engagement broke it is getting difficult for him to get a nice bride but when I saw Naina I knew that she was perfect for him,” the man said.

“Sir order?” a waiter came and asked us.

“Later,” Harsh said and waiter left.

“When you told me about your problem and asked me for some help I thought it is a win-win situation for both of us,” the man said and then we heard a mobile ringing and Mr. Mathur excused himself and went away.

Thank god he didn’t notice us.

So he is getting Naina married to someone instead of money?

How can he even think about it?

Does Naina know about this?

We were leaving when we heard a voice.

“Suman he got trapped in our plan, and no he doesn’t know our son is a drug addict,” we heard and stopped in our tracks and looked at each other.

“Now we will get our son married to his daughter and then we can have a grandchild,” he exclaimed happily.

“Okay Suman I will talk with you after reaching home,” he said and cut the call.

What ?

Drug addict?

He is getting Naina married to a drug addict ?

Even though her Dad doesn’t know that he is a drug addict but the fact is that he is selling Naina for five lakhs.

This can’t happen.

“Let’s go,” I said to Harsh and we left.
