My cheeks burned. I reached for the coffee carafe to distract myself, but our timing locked. His hand reached out at the exact same moment.

Instead of drawing back, his fingers smoothly brushed against mine under the handle. He didn't let go. His thumb lightly grazed the sensitive skin of my wrist, a secret, hidden touch right beneath the edge of the table.

My breath caught in my throat. The tension in the room skyrocketed, thick and suffocating, leaving me completely at his mercy while the rest of the house remained completely oblivious.

I pulled my hand back quickly, almost spilling the coffee. My heart was pounding so hard I was sure the maid would hear it as she walked back into the room with the toast.

"Everything alright, ma'am?" she asked, noticing my shaking hands.

"Yes, thank you. Just... a bit cold," I murmured, keeping my eyes glued to my plate.

Charles took a slow sip of his black coffee, a small, satisfied smirk playing at the corner of his lips. He picked up his fork and began eating as if he hadn't just set my entire body on fire under the table.

"You should take care of yourself, Isabela," Charles said smoothly, his voice completely innocent for the servant's benefit. "With Walton away in London, we can't have you falling ill. If you need anything at all while he's gone... just let me know."

The way he emphasized anything made a shiver run straight down my spine.

"I'm fine, Charles. I don't need anything," I replied, trying to sound firm, but my voice came out softer than I intended.

"If you say so," he murmured, his dark eyes locking onto mine one last time as he stood up from the table. He straightened his suit jacket, looking every bit the powerful, respectable businessman. "I have to head to the office. Have a good day, sister-in-law."

He walked out of the dining room, leaving the heavy scent of his perfume behind. The moment he was gone, I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding, my hands still trembling against my coffee cup. This house suddenly felt a lot smaller, and a lot more dangerous.

It was around 9:00 PM, and the entire house was completely dead silent. Walton hadn't called me back at all, and walking alone was starting to feel frustrated.

Hoping to calm my restlessness, I went down to the kitchen to warm up some milk. All the servants had already gone to their quarters for the night, leaving the main house dark except for a single dim light over the kitchen counter.

I was just standing there waiting for the milk when a shadow moved by the doorway.

I jumped, nearly dropping the glass. It was Charles. He had loosened his tie, and the top two buttons of his shirt were undone. He looked tired from work, but the moment his eyes landed on me, that sharp, intense look returned.

"Still awake?" he asked softly, stepping into the kitchen.

"I couldn't sleep," I murmured, instinctively keeping the kitchen island between us. I was only wearing a thin nightshirt, and under his gaze, I felt completely exposed all over again.

"Me neither," he said, walking closer until he was standing just on the other side of the marble counter. I could catch the faint scent of his cologne mixed with whiskey. "Too much on my mind."

I picked up my glass quickly. "I was just heading back upstairs to my room."

"Why do you always run away from me, Isabela?" His voice was incredibly low, cutting through the quiet night. He placed his hand on the counter, his fingers resting just inches away from mine.

The heavy click of the lock turning in the brass mechanism echoed like a gunshot in the cavernous quiet of the drawing room. Before the breath could even leave my lungs, Charles was there. The calculated, aristocratic restraint that he wore so effortlessly in public dissolved into thin air, replaced by an urgent, raw desperation that matched the wild beating of my own heart."You shouldn't be here," I managed to whisper, my voice trembling as his hands caught me by the waist, yanking me up from the mahogany chair with a sudden, bruising force. "Victoria just left. Mrs. D'Souza—she’s been assigned to watch my every move. They’re closing in, Charles.""Let them try," he muttered

The grandfather clock in the grand hallway chimed twelve times. Each heavy, echoing strike felt like a countdown against my own sanity. For two hours, I had stared at the ceiling of my bedroom, the folded note burning a hole in my bedside drawer. The greenhouse at midnight. Every logical thought screamed at me to stay put—Victoria’s harsh warning echoed in my ears, and the ghost of Walton’s cold indifference hovered over the estate. Yet, an agonizing emptiness pulled at my chest.I didn't care anymore. I was tired of being a trophy wife locked away in a gilded cage. With trembling fingers, I threw a dark, heavy shawl over my sheer silk nightshirt and tiptoed out of my room. The mansion was dead silent. Every creak of the floorboards sounded like thunder. I slipped through the side exit, the cool Cape Town night air hitting my flushed skin as I crossed the moonlit courtyard toward the glass greenhouse. The structure loomed ahead like a silver-draped cage. Through the curved glass panes

"Walton isn't here," he murmured, his thumb catching a tear on my skin. "He left you in this giant house to rot for months. Do you really want to cry alone every night?""No," I breathed, the honesty tearing out of me. "But not like this.""Look at me, Isabela." He gently tilted my face up. His breath was uneven. He was scared of the risk too. I could see it in his eyes. "Just let me make the loneliness stop."Through the glass windowpane, my eyes were locked onto his full, rigid length as his hand stroked it in a heavy, ruthless rhythm. His cock was swollen at this time, erect right between his balls. Completely clean, clean-shaved, with not a single hair on it. It looked massive and entirely wild, making my stomach drop with a sudden, hot surge of desire. I was craving. Seeing him do that was making my vagina wet. A forbidden urge flashed through me—I wanted to walk in, drop to my knees, and take him completely into my mouth. But the terror of Victoria catching me and telling Walto

"Stay away from Charles," she said bluntly, her voice dropping into a harsh whisper.I swallowed hard, trying to force a look of pure confusion. "What? Victoria, he’s Walton’s brother—""Don't play dumb with me," Victoria snapped, cutting me off with a sharp glare. "I saw the tension between you two at breakfast. I know exactly what you're doing.""Nothing is happening," I lied, my throat feeling incredibly dry."Do you think I'm blind?" she stepped even closer, her eyes narrowing. "I know you both were in the kitchen together last night. I know the guard saw the lights. Let me make this completely clear to you: Walton married you for an alliance, nothing more. You are just a decoration in this house."I clenched my fists at my sides, the humiliation burning hot in my chest."Walton just called from London," Victoria continued, a cruel, mocking smile touching her lips. "His business meetings are being extended. He won't be back for another two months. That means I am running this esta

The next morning, my phone vibrated early. It was a text from an unknown number: “Breakfast at 8:00. Don't be late, sister-in-law.”My heart did a violent flip. Charles.I dressed in a hurry, choosing a high-necked blouse to feel covered. When I walked into the dining room, Walton’s sister, Victoria, was already there, sipping tea and scanning some papers. Charles sat opposite her, looking flawless in a sharp suit."Good morning," I murmured, taking my seat."You're late, Isabela," Victoria said, not looking up. "And you look exhausted. Didn't sleep well?""I just had a headache," I lied softly."Really?" Victoria finally raised her head, her sharp eyes locking onto mine. "Because the night guard reported lights on in the kitchen around midnight. Were you down there?"My hand froze over my teacup. Panic flared in my chest. Before I could stutter, Charles casually turned a page of his newspaper. "That was me, Victoria. I was starving after work and asked Isabela to heat up some leftove

"I'm... I'm not running," I lied, my voice shaking slightly."You look beautiful when you're nervous," he murmured, his eyes dropping straight to my lips. "But you don't need to be afraid of me. I told you this morning... I can give you exactly what you're missing." "I'm actually starving," Charles said, breaking the tension with a small shrug. "Can you make me something quick to eat?"I nodded, glad to have something else to do. "I can heat up some dinner for you."I turned around to the stove, feeling his eyes on my back the entire time. I quickly warmed up the food, put it on a plate, and set it down in front of him."Thanks," he said, taking a bite. He looked up at me and smiled. "Why are you always so formal with me? I’m your husband's brother. You don't need to be so scared or stiff around me."I stayed on the other side of the kitchen island. "I'm just trying to be respectful, Charles.""Are you this formal with Walton, too?" he asked, looking at me closely.I didn't answer. I
