Ch. 10

FIONA

After Alpha Cyprus had assured me that I could stay and he was ready to accept my pregnancy, even provide everything I need if needed, he’s going to give me a good position where everybody is going to respect me. And he has already made the maids who know about my pregnancy swear to keep it a secret and make it seem as if we had nothing connected, just to protect my dignity. 

I sat under my bed, so excited as I squealed in happiness. “Oh my God! I feel like I was chased out for a good reason. Because now I finally found the person who wants me for who I am, and I am finally free from my family. They won't be able to follow me anywhere, bother me, or disturb me. Instead, I would be free to do whatever I want, decide whatever I want, do anything I want to do.” 

I never knew I could feel this excited over such little news. While still being engulfed in my excitement, the door creaked open as a young maid stepped in. She could be clearly around my age, but she seemed so innocent, and she looked well-kept and neat. 

“And you are?” I asked, puzzled. 

“I am going to be your new assistant maid. Anything you need, I will help you with. I will be by your side 24/7 to make sure nothing happens to you or your unborn child,” she said. 

“Huh? Who sent you to be my assistant? My help?” I said, puzzled, unable to find the right word. 

“Alpha Cyprus. He employed me for that job, and I want to make sure to do my best because he paid me well. And first, what do you want to have for lunch?” she said. 

I couldn't even hide how excited I was about how it felt to be happy. This is happiness in the most exciting way I ever could imagine it to be. “Anything, anything the whole palace is having for lunch, I will have,” I said to her as she smiled. 

“My name is Ivy. You are someone very important to the Alpha. I can't just give you what the pack is eating. You are important. You can't share the same meals with the maids because you are in no position as them. I want you to know that very soon you’re going to be in the line of being the next Luna. That is how important you are, and that is the reason why I am your assistant,” she said, as I looked at her confused, like she was just muttering out gibberish to me. 

“What do you mean 'line of Luna'? No. I am just here because Alpha Cyprus helped me,” I said to her as she walked towards me, placing her hands on my lips like she was trying to shush me before making the shush sound. 

“You don’t say that here. Alpha Cyprus has changed the whole information. You are not the one he helped. Don’t let anybody hear that word from you. You are the one he wants. He is keeping you because he needs you. You are important. You are one of the most important women in his life. That’s what he wants to hear from you. Do not let anybody get the intel that he helped you. He wants to keep you in a higher ground so everyone in this pack would respect you and make sure to follow every one of your orders. To do that, you have to be fierce. You act so weak. You’re not supposed to act like that,” she said to me. 

I was still confused. Even though I was overjoyed, it still puzzled me. “What exactly was she trying to say? He was keeping me as someone important,” I said to her. 

“You are such a naive young lady, and he brought you in with the pregnancy. He knows how the pack acts from the information I've gotten. You are from the North pack, and there they don’t accept someone who gets pregnant and does not provide the father of a child. Same thing goes in the South territory. We don’t accept it either. But Alpha Cyprus is ready to change the rules around, turn the table around to favor you. And if you want that favor to work for you without you being thrown out as a rogue, you have to accept the position he’s giving you. I don’t want you to talk to me like we are mates in public. You are my employer. Command me. Don’t question, don’t stutter. Be bold,” she said. 

At that moment, I felt like I had met a mother figure in a young lady. She made me believe that I could be fierce. “Thank you so much! I never knew this was what he was trying to do. I am so grateful for you to finally inform me. Anything you think I can have for lunch to make them believe I am who I am, I am ready to have it. I just want to be far away from all the troubles I have gone through,” I said to her while trying to fight back those tears of memories that were fighting their way back to my eyes, to my head, confusing me. 

“I will get you a special lunch. I need you to be strong. I need you to take over the position that Alpha Cyprus is giving to you. Promise me you will be bold enough, and if possible, take what you get. You need to seize the opportunity that Alpha Cyprus is giving you. Take it. Claim it before it's too late. Alpha Cyprus hasn’t found this out yet,” she said. 

I couldn’t understand why she was telling me this news, but I felt like I was finally getting to realize something. She was trying to tell me to take my place. I should use Alpha Cyprus's kindness to become someone important in the pack. That way, I won’t ever be thrown out. And I guess that's what I'm going to do.
