Alyssa

Alyssa was by no means a weak woman. She had faced down threats, survived the worst the world could throw at her.

But tonight...tonight, she witnessed something that chilled her straight to the bone.

Nothing in her life had prepared her for what she saw in that alley.

She had seen big dogs before, sure, feral, dangerous ones even.

But this... this was no dog.

The creature's size alone had been monstrous, its presence filling the narrow alley like a living shadow. And those eyes, those glowing, hungry golden eyes, they held something more. Something aware.

Alyssa shivered at the memory, pressing a hand to her chest as she climbed the steps to her apartment.

The uneasy feeling clung to her like a second skin. It felt as if invisible eyes were still watching her from the darkness, waiting.

Fumbling with her keys, she jammed the right one into the lock, her heart pounding in her ears. The door swung open, and she quickly slammed it shut behind her, twisting the deadbolt with a trembling hand.

Without pausing, she raced to the window.

She grabbed the edge of the curtain and peeled it back just enough to peer into the night.

Nothing was there.

Only the empty, shadow-drenched street.

Still, her instincts screamed. Her skin prickled with the certainty she wasn’t alone.

From the corner of her eye, she caught the flicker of movement, just a whisper of shadow, but when she snapped her gaze toward it, there was nothing there.

A trick of the mind, she told herself.

Just nerves.

Just adrenaline.

But even as she let the curtain fall back into place, Alyssa knew deep down...

Whatever she had seen tonight wasn’t finished with her yet.

And neither, she feared, was the feeling growing steadily inside her, an electric pull she couldn't explain, pulling her toward the unknown.

Hours later, Alyssa still lay awake, the covers pulled tight around her, every creak of the old building making her flinch.

Sleep didn’t come easy—not with her heart still racing and her mind replaying the scene over and over.

But exhaustion, cruel and heavy, eventually dragged her under.

And when it did, the dreams came.

She stood alone in a misty forest, silver moonlight slicing through the thick fog.

Somewhere, just beyond the reach of her vision, something moved, something familiar.

She should have been afraid. She wanted to be afraid.

But instead, warmth bloomed in her chest, a yearning.

The mist parted for just a moment, and golden eyes locked onto hers, bright, burning, unearthly.

A low, deep rumble of a growl vibrated through the air, but it wasn’t a threat.

It was a call.

Alyssa reached out without thinking, her hand trembling in the cool night air. The creature, no, the presence, stepped closer.

And just before her fingers could touch the shimmering outline of fur and muscle, she heard it, soft, a whisper only her soul could hear:

"Mine."

She gasped awake, clutching her sheets, her heart hammering against her ribs like it wanted to break free.

The apartment was silent around her.

But she could still feel it—lingering, heavy, real.

The golden eyes watching her.

The invisible tether tugging at something deep and ancient inside her.

She shook her head violently, pushing the dream away.

But a small voice inside her, one she had buried for years, whispered a terrible, thrilling truth.

Something had found her.

And somehow... she wasn’t sure she wanted to run.

  • Craving the Wolf   Lucian

Lucian Lucian, Coles’ beta and best friend since childhood, moved toward the far end of the alley, scanning the shadows beneath the fire escape.Silence lingered until his voice broke it."You know I met Mari in a parking lot, right?" Lucian broke the silence, thinking brining up his mate Mari would help ease his friends mind.Cole glanced over, brow raised."I didn’t know that."Lucian gave a faint smile, still crouched near the wall. "She was yelling at some guy who tried to overcharge her for brake work for her car. She didn't back down. I just stood there, watching her drag a full-grown man into the dirt with words alone, it was quit inpressive."Cole huffed quietly."That sounds just like her." he chuckled. Lucian nodded. "She knew what I was two weeks in, she didn’t flinch. She thought I was joking at first, thought it was a costume. Once she figured out it was real, she asked a million questions and by the end she was more intrigued than anything."His tone turned more seri

  • Craving the Wolf   Not Every Smile is Safe

AlyssaFlashbackThe heat pressed against the city like a second skin, heavy and unmoving. Alyssa had slipped into the small bookstore on Whitmore and Fifth, the cool, dusty air a quiet relief from the chaos outside. She wandered through the narrow aisles, letting the worn spines of old books brush against her fingertips, trying to lose herself.A voice broke the stillness."Looking for anything special?"She turned.A charming man stood a few feet away, a novel tucked loosely under one arm. Tall, very light blonde hair, deep blue eyes and well-kept. His smile came easy, softening sharp features and brightening his light brown eyes.Trent.There was no edge to his voice, no pressure in his posture. Only a casual interest, as if a conversation was just a way to pass the time. "I’m terrible at picking something new," he said, an easy laugh in his words. "Any recommendations?"Alyssa offered a faint smile. Politeness, nothing more. She named a few titles, her voice low in the quie

  • Craving the Wolf   Guilt

Cole Everything in Cole burned to tell Alyssa the truth, who he wasw and what he was. Every instinct screamed to claim her, to mark her, to make her his in every way Zodiak demanded. The wolf inside him paced restlessly, furious with the delay. The guilt was building by the minute. But Cole knew better. He had to be careful with her. Slow. Delicate. He could see it, the shadows she carried just beneath her surface. Demons she didn’t speak about but wore like armor. He ached to know what haunted her, to tear those ghosts away and replace them with safety, with peace. To make her forget her past, and know nothing but protection in his arms. But that would have to wait. For now, he had a day and a half to survive until their date and he needed answers before then.Someone had tried to kill her.Someone dangerous.Even though he was dead, he doubted that was the end of her troubles. Cole didn’t believe in coincidences. And if Alyssa was being hunted, he needed to know who and

LucasLucas paced the length of the office, his boots slamming hard against the polished concrete floor. His hands curled into fists at his sides, every step radiating fury. His vision was one color in that moment RED."What do you mean she's still alive?" he roared, the walls seeming to shake with the force of it.Aiden, Lucas right hand man and the one who he sends when his lower ranking men fail him, stood stiffly near the door, trying not to flinch."I'm sorry, sir," Aiden stammered. "We found Nick this morning. In the alley. His neck was snapped, and the girl was nowhere in sight."Lucas stopped, breathing hard, rage pouring off him in waves."I sent my best after her," he snarled. "And he failed."He whirled around, pacing again, hands dragging through his hair."How is this possible?"He had spent the last year attempting to find Alyssa, to get his revenge.Waiting for the right moment to make her pay for what she had done to his brother.Aiden backed away a few steps, his voic

  • Craving the Wolf   Just a Coffee

AlyssaHe claimed the table nearest hers, pulling out the chair with quiet deliberation.Close enough to hear her breathing if he listened.Just far enough not to touch her.Cole shrugged off his hood, rainwater sliding off the fabric, and leaned back in his seat.Alyssa sipped her coffee, trying to focus on the rain-smeared window. She could feel him near—his presence heavier than the humid air.She told herself not to look. Not to engage. But when she set her cup down, her gaze betrayed her.The man was already watching her.Not in a predatory way.Not invasive.Just... aware.Their eyes locked for a beat too long.He smiled. Just a small, almost shy curve of his mouth.Alyssa felt her heart trip.He tilted his head slightly, a silent question. An invitation. Before she could second-guess herself, she gave a faint nod.He stood, coffee in hand, and moved to the empty chair across from her."Mind if I sit?" he asked, his voice low and rich, even softer up close.Alyssa shook her head

  • Craving the Wolf   The Meeting

AlyssaThe morning air pressed damp and heavy against Alyssa’s skin as she stepped outside. The rain had thinned to a drizzle, but the sky remained choked with low gray clouds.Sidewalks gleamed wet underfoot.Cars hissed by on the slick street, their headlights dim behind veils of mist. She kept her head down, her movements careful, blending into the slow shuffle of early risers heading to work.Every sound seemed sharper, the creak of old shop signs, the soft splash of water under tires, the distant bark of a stray dog.The café sat two blocks away, tucked between a laundromat and a secondhand bookstore. Its neon "OPEN" sign buzzed faintly, the warm glow pooling onto the damp sidewalk like a small lighthouse in the gloom. She slipped inside, the bell over the door giving a soft jingle that seemed too loud.Warmth and the rich scent of brewing coffee wrapped around her, sinking into her clothes. The place was half-empty. A woman hunched over a laptop in the corner. A man scrolled on
