Scarlett POV

I was unhinged, watching my very own husband have sex with another woman on our matrimonial bed. The lady was unashamed as she enjoyed every bit of his stroke, moaning as her eyes rolled heavenward.

Michael didn't stop, and I allowed it because I was used to it. This wasn't his first nor his second, and he knows too well that it won't be the last.

"Look at me when I fuck you!" Michael ordered the lady, whom I supposed should be downstairs like the others, to work her ass off for a good paycheck, but here she was doing the same thing as with my husband.

"Oh God, Mr. Michael... Fuck, I am cumming..." The girl screamed out in pleasure. I was a bit bothered, hoping no one might hear her, but because of the busyness downstairs, I am sure they didn't.

Michael arched his back as he came all over her bare body and stepped away from her. "I shall go take my shower and be down soon," Michael said to me as I said, "Mhm.", He walked naked into the bathroom right beside where I stood.

The lady who was still recovering from all that heat caught my eye and quickly jerked away from the bed. She scrambled for her things and tried to leave.

"Where do you think you are going?" I asked her, using my left hand, to push her back. "Get dressed; I don't want my guests to see you stark naked."

"Alright ma," The lady shivered as she quickly put on her maid outfit.

"You work for me, don't you?" I queried.

The lady slightly gave a nod; it was clear she was nervous around me. "I do, ma'am."

"And now you don't," I stated, adding, "After tonight, I do not want to see you anywhere near my house, close to my husband, or around the proximity of children's schools or wherever they might be. If ever you are pregnant, you must abort the baby, and on no account must I hear that you speak to the media about this; if not, I shall have every member of your family murdered."

"Ye-yes, ma," the lady stammered, trying her best to directly look at me.

"What is your name?" I requested from her nicely this time, getting rid of my attitude, which I put on to scare and threaten her.

"Virginia, ma'am," she answered.

Her name rang a bell; it sounded like I had heard her name a couple of times. I know she does work for me, but I am not used to knowing the names of every one of my workers.

"Ah, you must be the orphan," I finally remembered. She is the same girl my daughter says she adores.

"Yes, I am," Virginia confirmed.

“That means you have no one to turn to nor will anyone go looking for your body when it is supposedly disposed, you are ALONE,” I said to her and the poor girl naively nodded her head.

I touched her hair and smiled. "Dear, expect to receive some lump sum tonight and never show your face here again. I shall not repeat myself; I will have someone prepare a plane ticket for you, so have your things ready to start a new life elsewhere."

"Yes, ma," Virginia said.

I step aside from the door and signal her to take her leave.

Just then the shower was turned off, and I knew Michael was done. I stepped out of the room wearing a big smile on my face as I went to the dining area.

Everyone was well seated, and they all seemed clueless about what was going on. "Where is Michael?" Brianna asked instantly.

"He will soon join us," I said. "Please let's have our meal; Michael will join us soon," I said to the others who were waiting for me to say something to them.

"Is it just me or does it seem like you are getting old Scarlett,” Melissa commented right when we were about to have our meal catching everyone’s attention, “Take care of your skin, okay”

“I will,” I answered forcing out my best smile, I hated that I had no clapback to her even though I had a lot of horrible things about Mel in my inventory.

Brianna had seen me fold and thought to intrude, “Melissa, how exactly is William? Is he still struggling to keep his grades up? I hear he could barely make it to the top ten position in the mock exam,”

“Mhm… not the one with a broken marriage talking,” Melissa turned her eyes away as she mocked Brianna.

I saw Brianna about to go physical and knew I needed to involve myself, “That’s enough, today is for Leo and I don’t want anyone here ruining it, and Melissa, I wouldn’t mind you sharing me some tips on how to keep my skin up,”

Just then, Michael suddenly arrives. He leaned into me and kissed my cheeks. It was all for eye service, but I do love how others admire our perfect relationship; even our love story was one for the books, which most people find easy to reach.

But I guess not all books with romance have a good ending.

There was a time in my life when I dreamt of being forever with Michael, but now I see him, and all I can feel is emptiness. Where did all the love we invested go? And for how long am I going to bear it?

I won’t lie, I still love him as the father of my kids but I am hanging on to this marriage not for them but for the fact that people will talk if ever they hear that I got divorced and I know people who will be pleased by this.

“My son!” Michael hugged Leo from behind, “The pride of my household, the one bond keeping our family together,”

“Nonsense! You and Scarlett don’t need Leo to be together, you are just perfect together,” Brianna chimed in.

Can she just shut up?

I get it that Brianna is a good friend but she can’t keep wishing for a life she has no clue of, again not all that glitters are fucking gold!

I wish I could say this to her, but...

“That’s right, Scarlett is everything to me,” Michael said as he clapped his hands twice, others wanted to join for a clap but immediately a band and some maids carrying a bouquet of roses walked in.

I was confused as to what was going on even though I should have been used to this by now, “Michael,” I smiled as the band played my favorite song, ‘Best Part’ by Daniel Caesar and H.E.R

When the song ended, Michael took one of the bouquets and handed it over to me, “Thank you for birthing our amazing children,” he bent to kiss me with the same lips he used to kiss that maid, I tried my best to accept it, it was all for a show I guess, I should play my role right.

“Oh, this is so cute,” Brianna said in her squeaky voice making all these seem as tiring as it should.

I managed to release myself from that and saw Melissa scrunch her nose up in disgust. At least I got something good out of that.

Till the night was over, Michael was all over me; he was selling our marriage way too much. After all, it is what I want, and I will go down to the ends of the earth to ensure that happens.

The minute I stepped foot into that place Michael called home for me and my children, it was the moment I lost all contact with Seth and the world. I never go anywhere without security following me around, monitoring my every movement and the things that I do, and making sure that they work according to my given schedule.Michael has gone insane.“Michael I am tired of all these.” I threw off my shoes and flung them out the window, and wherever they landed, I absolutely had no care for them. “I am tired!”“Then leave!” Michael screamed at my face as he slammed our room door, locking it shut. “I know you want his touch; you are doing all of these because you miss him, don’t you?”“For six months I haven’t seen him; I have adhered to every one of your demands and kept away from him; all I want is for you to sign the divorce papers and free me,” I say, moving away from him."Clearly, you don’t know that I won’t know such things, so act right and come down right now!” Michael yelled, and

“Carmela, hurry up; you are going to be late for school,” I screamed from the kitchen where I was packing up her lunch. When I didn’t hear anything from her, I went to knock on her door. The door pushed open as I held it. “Carmela.”“Mum, come take a look,” Carmela pointed at the two vehicles with security detail waiting in front of Seth’s apartment.“Ignore them,” I said to her before closing off the curtain. “Seth said he will drop you off at school before we head to the hospital to pick up your brother. Leo is finally returning home.”“Yay,” Carmela feigned excitement. “I am sure he is going to gain all of your attention now.” My forehead creased as I looked directly at her. I saw a small smile on her face. “I am kidding, mom. It is so easy to get to you. Make sure you give him all of the love for me.”“I think you should skip school today and come see him.”“And ruin my perfect record? No, I told you I would do better in school than Leo ever was,” Carmela said as she picked up her

“Why didn’t you tell me that Leo was alive? What was the need for keeping it away from me and from us?” Michael asked. Carmela had stared with the bitterness she had felt looking at her father this morning.“I did it so Brianna would confess,” I answered.“For fuck sake, Scarlett, if she had gotten arrested, she would have confessed either way; she killed our son, I mean almost,” Michael said as he moved back and forth.“And that is almost the reason he is alive today, Michael. I know Brianna was in her head yesterday, but she is not a bad person and still is my friend,” I acknowledged. “Everything she has done was to provide for her family; there is nothing wrong with that.”“By blackmailing you? Honey, have you gone mad? How can you call someone who has done all these things a friend? I pray she rots in jail for the sins she has caused you.” Michael pulled me and hugged me. I sniffed his shirt, and there was an unfamiliar scent—feminine, I would say.I already knew he had sex when h

A few talks with the officer were all I needed to get a name that I already knew. I couldn’t believe that the person I trusted so much about would have done this to me. I don’t deserve this. I may be a bad person, but I don’t deserve this at all.We drove over to my son’s murderer’s house as I begged for the police to let me speak to her personally; she is my friend after all.“She won’t harm me; Brianna already told me she would be waiting to speak to me,” I said, trying to convince the officer to wait.I knocked on the door of Brianna’s home, and it opened slightly, given that she hadn’t locked the door as she said she wouldn’t.“You came,” Brianna sat in the darkness of her home. I saw different weapons like a gun, a knife, and a couple of pills on the table. She said, “Don’t worry, they aren’t for you.”“I know,” I said. “You won’t harm me, Brianna.”“I hate you.” She said so simply as she whimpered silently, “You are so lucky; you have a good life, family, money , everything. A heavy downpour of rain washed over Leo’s grave, and while everyone sought shelter from it, I stood there wondering how lonely it would be over there—no one to talk to, no food to eat—at least you wouldn’t have to study any more.My lips thinned as I exhaled deeply. There is no mother to tell you what you can and cannnot, how to live your life, or who you should be with.I kneeled down as I allowed the dirt to stain all over me, losing my mind at the thought that Leo was actually gone, like I would never get to see him again."Leo, I am sorry.” I cried out as all my pain weakened me. A snort came out of my nose as I continued to cry. It will take the intervention of everyone to leave my son’s at this point.I didn’t give him what he wanted and always found a way to make his life about Michael. I used him as a pawn to achieve Michael’s success, and I only started to feel sorry for it when he outgrew me.I never got to amend my relationship with my son; I never got to do that, and now

Seth was shocked as to where I had gotten such courage from. I mean, I was drunk in his scent and clearly wasn’t thinking properly, but his saying I should go ahead was where I understood he wanted it too."Seth, look at where we are. Do you think God will want to see that from two fornicators?” I asked, and Seth burst out laughing.“Fornicators? So that is who we are now. I have never felt sin be this good before. You think maybe he will forgive us so easily?” Seth asked as he looked around the chapel.“No, God doesn’t work that way, dear; you have to be remorseful and actually pay the price for the sin before he forgives, I think, but though he is merciful, his forgiveness doesn’t come cheap,” I said, smiling. “I also don’t think we should be this close.” I tried to push him further away while pulling him back at the same time.“Since we are fornicators?" Seth laughed, and the room fell into silence as he gazed at me ever so lovingly. “I know this is wrong, but I miss you,” he said
