Chapter 6

Its been months since I stopped working at Collins special . I work there as a waitress and the eatery sells different kinds of foods.

The shop is called ' Collins special because of how special their food always taste. It is also well known in Lagos. I  stopped working there because I needed  time for school,i want to be serious . During my breakup with Thomas, I lost track in school and my  grades was reducing which led to the reason why  I left Collins special to work on my grades. 

Now that I'm back on track, I'm ready to work there again. The pay is very good I tell you.My only prayer is to get accepted. 

It isn't like I needed the  job by fire or by force, I just love The job and the good pays it gives. 

Since today is a short day which is Friday,Class ended  5 minutes ago, I said my goodbye to Abby I made my way to Collins special.

On reaching the restaurant, I couldn't believe how the shop had improve just few months of my absent. It super surprising I tell you.  The restaurant has been renovated and now look ten times more than it was before.  I'm happy for the owner who I still don't know. 

There were lots of customers around. Alex is by the counter but when she saw me she waved me over. 

"Hi Lucy ,long time no see" she said happily. 

Alex is one of my friend at Collins special, she is very nice and very pretty. Even with the three years age difference she never once treat me like a kid.

" yeah it been a while, how are you doing Alex?"  she beam at me.

"Well, i'm fine same old same old. Anyways to what do we owe the pleasure of seeing you here" 

"I just came to apply for a job here again. I hope I will be accepted, hopefully " 

"That means you will be joining us pretty soon" shouted a very excited Alex. 

"That is if the Oga  accept me back" I told her.

"You silly girl ,why won't Mr kadir approve of you. Have you forgotten that you were one of the best worker  when you were working here and don't forget the one time you cooked for the customers when the cook wasn't around, have you forgotten how the customers praised the food that day. Mr kadir will be so glad to see you" she said seriously.

'" I hope so. Let me go check on him " I said ,nervously.

"Don't worry, I know he will accept you with open arms" she smiled whilst I walk towards the boss office. 

On my way to Collins office I greeted some workers whom I used to also work with. My phone pinged in my trousers pocket so I brought it out to see who texted and it turn out to be Abby saying ' I should call her, there is something she wants to tell me'.  First thing first,  as much as I'd love to call her to hear what so ever she wants to tell me, I still need to sort this job first before I can now call her.  

I put the phone back in my pocket and was about to turn left but that ended me on the floor. I was pushed by a hard chest. 

My butt hurt so much and in my state of pain I tired standing up  . 

" miss are you ok" the guy asked. Everything around me stopped coz of who I just saw. 

It the guy in my dreams, he is here in front of me. I can't believe this or am I hallucinating? .

Sometimes like recognition also passed through his face. But what he said next surprises me 

" why am I even asking, you should learn to watch where you're going " he rudely said and walkout of my front. 

What the hell is wrong with him?

I  only stood still as I watch him walk out of the restaurant. This had to be a dream,Definitely. 

I think I need help. How is it possible for me to see a guy I only see in my dreams? and I thought I was only picturing it. I shake it off, I'll solve this matter later but now I need to tend to the pressing matter at hand. 

I knocked at the door to Mr kadir's office  and I heard a faint come in. I pushed the door and went in. 

" Good after noon, sir" he looked up from the book he was reading. 

" what a surprise to see you here Lucy. How have you been?"

" I'm fine, thank you sir" he nodded and signaled me to  have my seat. 

" how may I help you then?".

" sir I came to apply for my previous position  that is if it's possible "

He looked surprised " I guess you've found yourself already coz last I could remember you resigned yourself saying you're loosing track in school, am I right? "

" yes sir, I promise you won't regret this "

" I hope so. Base on your work ability, I'll like to inform you that you've gotten the job. "

What!!? 

" are you serious sir? "

" of course, I am"

" wow!!  Thank you so much sir and I promise you'll never regret it"

" I pray so"

" Thank you once again"

He nodded and I left the office in full speed to tell Alex about this luck of mine. 

" Alex, Alex guess what" I shouted as I got to her place. She looked startled at first but quickly recovered. 

" what is it. Why are you shouting as if something or someone died"

" you won't believe it. I got the job" I excitedly yelled.

" shhhhh, you're too loud. Don't forget there are customers around " one of the workers reminded 

" oops, sorry" Alex apologize " I'm so happy for you girl. At least I won't be lonely here since my partner in crime is coming to work here with me" said an excited Alex. 

" yes oo. I need to be on my way already "

" not so fast" she held my arm and drag me back. 

" why? "

" Do you think I didn't see what happened earlier . You and that fine guy huh" she wiggled her brows 

" oooh , so that's why you even drag me back. Don't mind the yeye rude guy"

" what did he do? "

" can you imagine that he bumped into me and instead of saying sorry he said I should learn to watch were I was going. I mean, how rude can he get"

" Don't mind him. I think he is new around here coz I have never seen him before"

" it non of my concern where he comes from " I said

" no vex now"

" I'm not angry. Anyways ,we'll meet tomorrow coz my shift starts tomorrow "

" OK bye "

It has been three days now since I got the job and I have also been busy with school and work at Collins special.

Right now, I'm in Collins special since today is my shift and work had been hectic.

" i'm so tired" Alex said with a loud sigh

"Me too" 

A lot of customers came today, their was no time for relaxation. When one customer goes  another one comes. Today had been so stressful I tell you. 

I took out my  ringing phone from my jeans pocket. I picked the call when I saw the caller  was my mom.

" hello mom, whats up" I heard people murmuring from the other side ,I guess my mum is in a meeting or something.

" Sweetheart I need a favour from you" she said

" mum what's that?"

"I left my file at home and we are in a middle of a meeting right now. Please Lucy I'll like you to go home and bring the files for me honey" 

"OK ,I'll be there soon after I ask for permission " I told her

"OK honey I'll be waiting for you" 

We hanged up. I went to ask Mr kadir for permission and he allowed me to go.

I quickly went home to pick the file up and head to the company. The company is just a 20 minutes ride from my house if the okada man is fast.

I walked inside the company and it clicked to me that I don't even know my mom's office . This is my first time entering the company. The last time I came ,I only stayed outside. 

I kept asking people where the meeting is holding and I was told that it's on the fifth floor.  I was on my way to the elevator ,I made a u turn then---

"ouch"

"What the fuck is wrong with your sight" the person I bumped into shouted

It him again.
