Chapter 11 - Ava's fated mate

Ava’s POV

“Killian,” his name rolls off my tongue leaving the sweetest taste in my mouth, as he twirls me around on the dance floor, “tell me about your pack.”

He chuckles, “it’s different than other packs, we’re mountain wolves, we don’t live in the low lands as you are used to,” his blue eyes twinkle at me and my wolf purrs in my mind.

My eyes go wide, “don’t tell me you live in caves in the mountains,” I kid with him.

He pulls me into him, my chest against his and I can feel his heart thundering, his eyes swirl with mischief, “and if I did, would you not want to go with me.”

I swallow the lump in my throat and flutter my lashes, “I didn’t say that,” I give him a sexy smirk, “I just need to know what to pack that’s all.”

He chuckles, “pack, you sound like you’re coming just to visit, you will bring everything with you, darling I don’t intend on you leaving my side.”  He smiles, “it may take you some time to get use to the outhouses,” he arches a brow.

“What?  Outhouses?” I say just an octave too high. 

He smiles wide and spins me out and then back into his chest, “I’m kidding, we have indoor plumbing,” he shakes his head.

I slap his chest playfully, “stop teasing me,” I look into his eyes, “I’ve only been to the places around our pack and not very often.”

His eyes soften, “I’m sorry Ava, it’s my nature but if it bothers you…”

I cut him off, “No, I like it, I just don’t want you to think I’m that gullible or naïve that’s all,” my cheeks heat up and I know I’m blushing,  “I’m just generally curious if I’m going to be living there.”

He arches his brow, and his arm tightens around my waist, pulling me even closer to his body, “IF,” he frowns, “what is the reason you said if.”

My heart rate picks up and now I remember Dimitri, I look up into his eyes and blink back the stinging of tears and put on a big smile, “we don’t know each other Killian, and you may not want me.”

He shakes his head, “Ava, I have wanted my mate since I was a pup,” his hands move and he cups my face, “you are beautiful to me, the most beautiful woman I have ever laid my eyes on, your scent is driving me mad with desire for you.”  He leans forward and my eyes flutter shut as I wait for his lips to touch mine, but they don’t, he kisses my eyes lids and then the tip of my nose, his voice has me open my eyes, “our first kiss will not be in front of all these people,” his thumb strokes over my bottom lip, “my darling when I capture these beautiful lips I will devour them, it is not for everyone’s eyes to see what I will do to my mate,” his smile is so sexy it makes my core leak. 

I feel a hand on my shoulder and a low growl comes from Killian’s chest, my head snaps and I smile as Gabe stands there looking at me with an ear to ear smile on his face, “Ava, I’m so happy for you,” he chuckles.

I pull from Killian and through myself into him as he gives me a crushing bear hug, I giggle, “Killian, this is my big brother, Gamma Gabe,” I let go of him and turn to face Killian.  Whose face is slowly losing a red color, and I bit my bottom lip, he must have gotten angry that I was hugging Gabe.  I flutter my lashes at him and put my hand on his chest, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you.”

He smiles as he takes Gabe’s hand that is extended to him, “pleasure Gamma Gabe,” he looks at me, “a little warning next time darling.”

Gabe chuckles, “yea, she’s not going to do that, just know that there is no one here that will put a claim on her, we are all family,” he looks at me with a pointed look and then continues, “I need to leave,” he smiles, “the princess is about to shift and..”

I cut him off, “go Gabe,” I giggle, “good luck brother, you’re going to need it with her.”

He quickly kisses my cheek, and looks at Killian, “you need luck too their big guy, I know my sister well,” he turns and walks out the front door of the center.

I turn back to Killian and smile, “the birthday girl, he thinks she is his mate,” I shake my head, “my parents,” I look around and smile as they are both heading for us.  I pull Killian from the dance floor and head towards them, Momma’s smile is beaming at me and Dad’s face is stoic as they approach.

Mom opens her arms, and I fall into them, she kisses my cheek and pulls me from her, setting me right beside Killian and she looks at us with tears forming in her eyes, “you look perfect together, just perfect.”

Dad pulls her to him, “they do don’t they,” he extends his hand to Killian, “nice to meet you son, my name is Steve and this beautiful woman next to me is Leah.” 

They shake hands as Killian’s arm snakes around my waist, pulling me into him, “Beta Killian, pleasure to meet you both sir, I will take the best care of your daughter,” he smiles at me as he releases Dad’s hand.

Dad smiles at him, “you better,” he says in a threatening tone, “she’s my only daughter.”

Alpha Abigail burst in, “Oh my goddess,” she squeals, “Ava,” she pushes Killian away and he stumbles as she hugs onto me, “I’m so happy for you.”  She spins around and looks at Killian and smiles.  She extends her hand to him, “Alpha Abigail and you sir have hit the jackpot, you are mated to my best friend,” she beams a bright smile to him.

He chuckles and takes her hand, “Beta Killian, nice to meet you Alpha Abigail.”  That’s when everyone descends upon us, and we spend the next hour in introductions. 

I pull Abigail away from everyone and speak in hushed tones, “Abi, I’m so nervous, he wants me to leave with him now, tonight and go to his pack.”

Abi smiles, “of course he does Ava, you’re his mate, but remember you have all the power and if you don’t want to go, I can stop him from taking you.”

I shake my head, “no, I want to go with him, I’m just worried, what if he doesn’t like me.?”

She smiles, “he’s not blind and he’s the luckiest person I know right now, you’re his mate Ava.”

I nod, “Have you seen Dimitri, do you think he knows?”

Her face falls a bit, and she nods, “he knows Ava and I’m sure he is happy for you.”
