Chapter 20 - Maturity shift

Brooklyn’s POV

“I’m sorry,” Sofia whispers, “I didn’t mean to upset you.”

I smile, “it’s fine, Uncle Gabe is a good dancer,” I look around, “there are so many males here hoping Teresa is their mate, do you think they will all come here for us?” 

Lynx growls, “you’re too little to be worrying about that, aren’t you?”

Sofia slaps his shoulder, “we’re young, not little,” she scoffs.

I bite my lower lip, “I can’t help that Daddy didn’t give me his tall gene, I’m like Momma,” I beam at him, “compact size and will be strong like her.”

Tyler chuckles, “more like bite size Brook.”

I turn glaring at him, he’s 11 and already as tall as Lynx and he’s 17, “you’re not funny Ty,” I narrow my eyes.

He chuckles, “come on bite size, dance with me.”

I shake my head, but take his hand, I love to dance, but no one ever asks me, except my brothers and Daddy.  I really was excited when the Gamma’s said they would dance with me and Sofia, but at least I got one dance from one of them anyway.

I was so happy for Ava and Teresa when they both found their fated mates, but I know that Ava will leave us now and go to her mates pack, it’s just the way it is in our world, so I hope that my mate, whoever he is, is here in our pack so I never have to leave all my family behind.  Her voice cackles, “don’t worry little one, we won’t be leaving our pack.”

I froze, “you already know who our mate is?”

I feel her smiling, “of course, but I’ll watch him for us, keep him in line.”

I shake my head, “tell me who it is, then I can tell him, and you won’t have to worry, he will wait for us.”

She growls, “not going to happen young one, he will need to be worthy of you and me, I’m special and so are you, everyone will fear us and respect us.”

I shudder, “I don’t want anyone to fear me that’s not nice to scare people into respecting you, be nice,” I scold her.

I walk into Teresa’s old room and pick up a box and head for Gabe’s car and place it inside.  Teresa looks at me and smiles, “here Brook,” she hands me an unopened lips gloss, a strawberry one with a pink tint to it, “keep it,” she smiles and leans over to kiss my cheek.

I nod, “thanks, Momma won’t let me buy this yet, not until I’m 17.”

She giggles, “I know, but she can’t take a present away from you.”  I slid into the back seat, and we headed over to the new pack house.  Sofia is in Momma’s car, and Tyler and Lynx are with Aunt Leah.   It’s a short ride and I take a box from the car and head to their room.

Abigail smiles at me as I walk inside, holding Alexander on her hip in the foyer, “hey sweet girl, when you’re done, can you watch Alexander for me with Sofia, I have a conference call to be on, it won’t take long.”

I smile, “sure, he’s so adorable Abi, who could say no to watching him.”  I ran up the stairs and dropped the box on the floor inside their room and then ran back down and met up with Sofia who already has Alex on the floor in their family room playing with him.  I sit down and grab some of his big building blocks and show him how to connect them together.

Sofia giggles, “you still love building things with blocks, don’t you?”

I smile as I hand him a yellow block, “yea, I guess I am just a kid still,” I shrug.

When Gamma Dimitri entered the room and tried to give me flowers, I just didn’t want to remember how childish I acted over a stupid dance but then my wolf pushed forward and I screamed at her to stop, she was asking him things I have no right to be asking an adult. 

Sunday dinner was fine but when we went inside the family room and started watching the movie, Lynx choice tonight, I felt so hot and uncomfortable.  My body ached and I thought I was getting sick again.  I stood and Teresa looked at me, her eyes narrowed, “Brooklyn, you, okay?”

I nodded, “I need Momma,” is all I said as I left the room, my wolf began to scratch at me and I just felt so hot, like I had a fever, maybe getting sick. 

I knocked at the door and my wolf pushed through, I had no idea what happened until I was outside and standing on 4 paws, with Momma’s arms wrapped around my furry neck and Daddy’s hands running down my side.  I looked around and gulped as I saw, Abi and Christov staring at me in disbelief and Nonna just shaking her head.  I tried to step back but Daddy had a good hold on me and then Momma’s words hit my ears, “your gorgeous, your pure black like your Daddy.”

My wolf purrs, “because we are an Alpha wolf young one, see we are special as I told you.”

She broke free of Daddy’s hold and took off running, it wasn’t long when I heard thunder behind me and Dad, Christov, Abi and Momma were all running behind me.  Rayne and Ceasar caught up first, both flanking me and I could hear Rayne trying to talk to my wolf, she called her Crimson, “stop Crimson, this isn’t right, and you know it.”

Ceaser growled at her, and she cackled, “not sorry Ceaser, she will thank me,’ she purred, “you both should trust me more, I’ve learned plenty in my years, he will fall in love with her now, before the bond takes hold of them.”  Ceaser’s growl was vicious, and Crimson stumbled.

Momma’s voice entered my head, “pull her back sweet girl, hold on to her and pull her with all the strength you have.”

I did as Momma said and pulled her back, as we both tumbled forward.  I lay there gasping for air, curled in a ball, knowing that there were men around that could see my body, I might look like Abi, my face and hair, but I don’t have any of the bits that a girl my age should and it’s embarrassing.  I felt Momma’s hand on my back and her voice was soft, “sit up sweet girl, I have a t-shirt for you.  I sat up and raised my arms for her to put the shirt on me and stood, pulling at the hem.

I turned to face them, Abi’s eyes widened, “holy goddess,” she screamed, “Brook,” she pointed at me.

I looked down at myself and nearly fainted at the sight, and my hands lifted up and I felt them, I had boobs, honest to goddess boobs, tears filled my eyes, and I looked at Mom shaking my head, I screamed, “NO.”
