Chapter 4

Author: The Evil Villain
In that instant, the men in white coats approached me one step at a time, their blank eyes making them look like emotionless machines.

Donald stood beside me and explained the situation to the guests with a look of deep distress.

"He suffers from serious delusions of persecution and has violent tendencies. He's always convinced himself that he's the one who's done the most for the family and that everyone wants to harm him. He even lashes out at people close to him…"

He sounded so helpless and heartbroken, putting on a sickeningly convincing performance.

Those present scrambled backward, eyeing me with a mix of dread and pity, terrified the lunatic would snap and hurt them. There wasn't a single person in the banquet hall who spoke up for me or tried to intervene. I was entirely on my own.

I thrash wildly, shoving away the hands grabbing for me. "Get your hands off me! I want to see my father! I want to see Zack Quinton! I put everything on the line for this family—I bled for the Quinton family! I don't believe for a second he'd fall for your damn lies!"

I yelled throughout the lavish banquet hall, only to draw nothing more than a contemptuous sigh from Donald.

Donald leaned in close and whispered so that only I could hear him. "You should stop being so naive. Do you really think I could've sent you overseas for treatment without Dad's permission? He has lost all hope in you a long time ago—the one who never learned how to keep his head down!"

Those words dealt a heavier blow than any punch, hitting me where it hurt most. That couldn't possibly be true. That last bit of hope I had left started to crumble.

I abruptly held up the voice recorder in my hand, making one final attempt to turn things around. I screamed at the top of my lungs, yelling, "There's also a recording on here of him conspiring with the rival company and deliberately leaking my whereabouts!"

Donald's eyes widened in surprise for a second before settling into a cold sneer, practically daring me to keep bluffing.

Just then, one of the family elders who had come in with Joseph finally spoke up. He looked solemn, his voice carrying a deep disappointment. "That's enough, Donald! Stop causing trouble anymore! Hand over what you have and go back with the doctors for treatment. Y-You will not be treated unfairly, Donald…"

He addressed me as Donald, making his intentions obvious. He wanted me to admit that I was mentally ill.

In that moment, everything finally became clear to me. It seemed like my plans stood in their path, so every single one of them chose to buy into the fake. I had lost. I had been utterly defeated, and that last bit of tension keeping me together finally snapped.

I could feel all the energy drained from my body instantly while the light in my eyes quickly dimmed.

Upon seeing the opportunity, the psychiatric staff and Donald's guards pounced on me together. They ruthlessly pinned me down flat against the freezing marble floor.

I felt a throbbing pain shooting through my cheek as they slammed it into the ground, twisting my arms behind me until they felt ready to break. I felt humiliated, furious, and desperate, churning violently in my chest.

Donald and Isabella sauntered over, gazing down at me like I was an insignificant being they had crushed underfoot.

Donald squatted down, a wicked smirk spreading across a face that matched mine completely. "Oh, my sweet younger brother. You'll be Donald Quinton from now on—a poor, pathetic mental patient.

"I'll have to hand it to you, though. You have pretty good taste. Isabella is quite… impressive. I, Bradley Quinton, will be the one enjoying your life from now on!"

Isabella covered her mouth and giggled with amusement, while her high heel remained right before my eyes. "You're such a pitiful sight that it almost breaks my heart. You should've thought of this before you brought it on yourself!"

One of the men in white coats took out a white restraint strap, ready to restrain my wrists completely.

Just as the strap was about to close around my wrist, the shrill sound of sudden braking came from outside the hotel. Then, an imposing, elderly voice followed, drowning out the noise in the banquet hall. "I'd like to see who dares touch my son today!"

It wasn't long before fake news went out, and like a spark hitting dry kindling, it instantly set the entire high society ablaze."Have you heard the news? Donald has evidence of Mr. Lane's wrongdoings and plans to offer it to Bradley to prove his loyalty!""They're going to take each other down? We've got a real show on our hands now!"Queenie and I sat in the surveillance room, watching real-time footage of the abandoned dock."You're sure he'll send someone over?" I asked."Oliver's the kind of man who makes sure no one survives to tell the tale," Queenie said, holding her coffee, her voice disturbingly calm.As expected, within half an hour, several black vehicles slipped silently into the dock, and several men in black suits stepped out, their movements sharp and their gazes cold. They were obviously professionals. They didn't find Donald, but they ran into our people instead. It was a quiet, one-sided takedown. It wasn't long before the leader of the assassins was pinned d

I could feel the howling winds whipping across the rooftop, making it hard to keep my balance. I clutched the DNA test, crushing the edges of the paper in my fist. Donald had been a Lane all along.Nothing had ever felt as absurd or chilling as this revelation, not even betrayal. No wonder he harbored such a twisted obsession with me and hated me so deeply.Donald and I had never belonged on the same side in the first place.Queenie stood right across from me, her black trench coat snapping in the wind. She looked at me without a hint of triumph, her eyes reflecting only the calm of someone who had seen it all. "Can we discuss our deal now?"I reflexively reached into my pocket, fingers finding the cold silver of Dad's watch—the one he said belonged to Mom. I flipped open the casing. No clock hands. Just a small, yellowed photo. It showed Mom in her youth alongside a pretty woman, both beaming at the camera. I looked closely and noticed that the woman shared a distinct resemblanc

In the meantime, before the mess in the banquet hall could even be cleaned, power within the Quinton family had already drastically shifted. I began checking the accounts as soon as I returned to the CEO's office. Donald was a complete failure when it came to business, but he was an expert at bleeding the company dry.I summoned Henry White, the company's CFO, and went straight to business. "I want all the accounts Bradley handled, Mr. White."I emphasized the name "Bradley".Henry pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses, looking hesitant. "M-Mr. Quinton… Y-Your previous accounts are all inside this computer, but…" He pointed to a badly battered laptop resting on the desk and continued, "You see, there was so much chaos earlier that the laptop was destroyed, and the hard drive was physically damaged. I'm afraid we won't be able to recover the data, Mr. Quinton…"I found it hard to believe that Henry's acting was far worse than Isabella's. I walked over, patted him on the shoulder,

That man possessed snow-white hair and a beard, dressed in a sharp traditional suit that practically commanded respect. He leaned on a dragon-headed cane, each tap seeming to strike at everyone's heart. He was none other than my father, Zack Quinton, the head of the Quinton family.A group of senior family elders followed closely behind him, every single one of them wearing a stone-cold expression. In that instant, the entire banquet hall fell completely silent.Donald's smug smile froze, and deep, instinctive fear spread across his face. He and Isabella, my fiancée, rushed forward, nearly tripping over themselves to reach him. "Why did you come here? Do you see what's happening? Donald has gone crazy, Dad! He—"Dad didn't spare them a single glance. He looked past the crowd and fixed his eyes on me, his clouded yet keen gaze filled with mixed emotions. He eventually nodded slightly; that single nod said everything that needed to be said.He walked onto the stage and grabbed the m

The banquet hall fell silent once the recording finished playing. Several executive directors of the Council of the Quinton Family Elders wore dark expressions and glared at Donald.Meanwhile, the guests began whispering to one another, their murmurs growing louder. Their suspicion of Donald had turned into disdain. Camera flashes went off endlessly as reporters frantically snapped photos, eager to capture the scandal of the Quinton brothers turning on each other.I held up the voice recorder, my smile growing colder. "You all heard that, right? Do I need to spell out what this means?"Donald went completely pale, his lips trembling as he struggled to speak.Just as I thought he was about to fall apart completely, Donald suddenly lifted his head and laughed. He let out a hysterical, cold laugh and said, "You've really gone all out to impersonate me! You found someone to imitate my voice and forged all these nonsensical documents and recordings! What does that prove, Donald?"He
