Chapter 52: The Sirens of War

[Max’s POV]

“Alpha, I have Elder Braden on the phone,” Beta Jason said while handing me his cell phone. “Elder Braden, we are at the front gates of Kali’s fortress, and the magical ones almost have his shields down,” I spoke while watching more troops march out of the gate.

“The other elders have warriors in place in and around the cities to guard their territories as well. I have put in an order to the Governor to utilize our armed forces. Citizens are being warned now to go to shelters or in reinforced areas of their homes,” Elder Braden informed me.

“How are we going to explain the supernaturals to the humans? We need to use the military as the last resort and try to allow our supernatural armies to do most of the fighting to limit human casualties and exposure,” I said.

“I have the same concerns. Humans are not strong enough, even with our advancements in weaponry. It is also incredibly dangerous to use heavy weapons and explosives in the cities since they are so densely populated
