Conrad's POV.

.

.

“Conrad, let him go, people are watching,” Skylar whispered, holding my arm.

I didn't listen to her. My grip around the insolent boy's neck only tightened. How dare he speak to her like that in my presence?

He felt so frail under my Alpha grip, like I could just flick my fingers and he would be dead. The rage boiling within me told me to do so, my wolf wanted it. I could.

But I didn't, listening to Skylar. I released him with a hard push and he crumpled on the ground before me.

I looked up and saw people surrounding us, watching with horror and disbelief in their eyes. They were whispering, they were scared.

“Conrad.” I looked at my side and saw Skylar still holding my arm. I placed a hand on hers and forced a smile.

A group of guards rushed down the stairs to our right. The watchers cleared the way for them and they stood before me.

“What happened here?” One of them asked in a stern voice but even he couldn't look at my face.

“I taught him a lesson for disrespecting

Skylar...He might look like his brother, but he was definitely nothing like him. Clyde was almost as tall as Conrad and had the same strong body frame as he did. But Clyde was…rigid, like a soldier. Hell, he was even clad in a soldier-like attire. Black leather jacket buttoned to the top, black belt with silver buckle and black pair of pants which was complemented by a pair of rugged boots, also black. He was like a dark enforcer and the Maelstrom crest sitting on the left chest of his jacket added to his malevolent nature.“Who are you?” His voice came out firm and rugged.I raised an eyebrow, “What?”He turned left and walked back and forth casually, as if scrutinizing the room. “Apart from the information we have on you, who, really are you?” he asked again.I shifted uncomfortably on my seat. What was I supposed to say to him?“I'd tell you if you tell me something,” I dared to say, holding my breath as I waited for his response. His already narrow eyes thinned on me, “I don't

Conrad...“Walk,” the cocky man grunted, pushing me roughly through the prison corridor. My hands were bound and so were Leah's.My plan was simple, or not quite; we would give Tegan what he always wanted—something to make Grandpa pleased with his sorry ass—and that would be the Pack Ledger which contained all of Ridgewood’s ancient laws, traditions, secrets and even the pack's general weakness, all to set the people of her pack free. She made herself sound weak and desperate, making it believable enough for these fools to buy it.And with the alibi that my fingerprint was the only thing that could gain them access to where the Ledger was. There was no such thing as a Pack Ledger.“What…why are they here?” Eric, the traitor of Ridgewood asked the moment we walked into the Alpha's office. Ace's office.“She wants to give us access to something that'll benefit us,” the one who'd brought us answered.“And what's that?”“The Pack Ledger.” Leah answered in a sharp-edged tone, staring at

Skylar...“Impossible!” Alpha Zhola, the bald-headed man in the room, sprang to his feet, his eyes bulging. But I paid no attention to him, no, my gaze stayed on Alpha Griffith, defiant, unmoving. The initial shock that gripped me when Clyde revealed my mate status with Conrad had fled, replaced by fiery determination.“You think you can come in here and make declarations? You think us fools, but you know nothing of what you speak. No one can be mated to Master Conrad except my daughter!” he bellowed uncontrollably and it was Alpha Griffith’s palm slamming on the table, making even me jump, that stopped him.“Need I remind you where you are, Alpha Zhola?” Alpha Griffith said, his tone commanding.“F…forgive me, Alpha Griffith,” Alpha Zhola said, taking his seat again.See? Dictator. Commanding another Alpha like he was his mere pack member.“But Alpha, what he says is true, right? The moon goddess’ revelation more than two decades ago confirms it. Dahlia has been ordained to your so

Skylar...The scent of polished oak and distant pine assaulted my senses as the car rolled into the Maelstrom pack house—enough reminder that this time, I wasn't slipping in through the back with Conrad, but bound as their captive.“Come on, out you go,” one of the three men who rode with me said as he opened the door. I stepped out, my eyes sweeping across the grand yard of the prestigious pack house. To the humans, it was only known as Reigns’ private resort. Only the werewolves knew the true intent of its construction. They dragged me through the echoing marble halls of the pack house before shoving me into a dimly lit room that screamed ‘interrogation waiting room.’“You're just going to leave me here?” I asked, just before the man shut the door.“Beta Tegan will decide when to take you to the Alpha,” was all he said before slamming the door shut. The sound of the lock clicking shut told me there was no escaping this place.I ran my hand through my hair, exhaling frustratedly, a

Conrad...I smashed the wooden chair on the black wolf, shattering it as a howl of pain escaped its mouth. I caught two of the wooden shards that scattered around, brandishing it dangerously as I swerved around and sunk a shard into an approaching brown wolf’s mane. The howl of pure pain rented the air and I sent a kick into its chest, causing it to crash backwards.I turned briskly, my breath collected but my eyes keen and instincts high at alert. There were no more attackers, at least none that were still moving.I stood straight and saw Ace's beta, Travis, skipping down the stairs, clad in a black elastic cloth. He'd shifted into his wolf form during the fight and just like every other werewolf, he was wearing that elastic cloth to prevent him from staying naked after his shift.I didn't have to shift, these werewolves were too primitive for that.“I think that's all of them. Thank you, Alpha Conrad.” Travis said with an appreciative nod and I nodded back even though I wasn't an

Skylar. ..“Secure the perimeter! Don't let any of them leave this place!” Leah bellowed out orders while I hid behind a vehicle, watching with fear pounding in my heart.Alpha Caleb's wolves were young and agile but the Ridgewood warriors were not to be messed with. As their invaders rushed them in their wolf forms, they countered with a fierce force of theirs.“Skylar!” I whipped my head to the right and I saw Conrad rushing towards my direction. But he was hit by a wolf from his side.“Conrad!” I screamed my lungs out, springing to my feet and without another thought, dashed across the path. When I got to Conrad, he had already kicked the wolf off him and was holding its fur, pinning it down. Then with one mighty punch, he struck it down. The way he looked while doing that… I shook my head, dusting off the distraction as I approached Conrad.“Your grandfather sent them!” I said over the noises of growls and bones cracking. Conrad looked at me with an agreeing frown and held my sh
