Chapter 8: Tugging at His Heartstrings

Yvonne Harrington was at a loss.

Sherry Harrington, with her back to the onlookers downstairs, gave Yvonne Harrington a mocking smile, which made her heart skip a beat.

Yvonne Harrington couldn't understand the gleam of joy in her eyes and froze in place.

"What are you doing? Let go of my precious daughter right now!"

Isabel Wollaston pushed open the double doors and shouted, then rushed forward to push Yvonne Harrington aside, shielding Sherry Harrington.

"Mom..."

Sherry Harrington threw herself into Isabel Wollaston's arms as if she had just escaped a disaster, her tears falling like a string of broken pearls.

Yvonne Harrington felt disgusted by her pitiful act. She pointed at Sherry Harrington and sneered, "Sherry Harrington, stop pretending!"

She spoke with such anger that she wished she had really pushed Sherry Harrington down.

Indeed, one must never show mercy to such people!

Suddenly, a large hand grabbed her.

The man gripped Yvonne Harrington's index finger tightly, applying so much force that it seemed he wanted to break it.

Looking up, she winced in pain and gazed at the man's face, a wave of confusion washing over her.

For a moment, she was immobilized, studying the man's features.

Those features, Yvonne Harrington thought, seemed familiar...

Finally, it dawned on her. She remembered her two children! Yes... almost identical features, the eyebrows, the nose, and even the curve of the mouth when pursed were the same!

"Why are you bullying her?"

The man broke the silence with a voice full of anger.

He ignored the adoring gaze of the woman before him, his expression cold and indifferent.

Yvonne Harrington let out a scornful laugh.

Indeed, his flawless face was captivating, but she would never be swayed by a man who protected Sherry Harrington.

"How do you know I'm the one bullying her? Did you see the whole incident?"

Yvonne Harrington gritted her teeth.

"My sister didn't bully me; I said something she didn't like, and that's why she wanted to kill me!"

Sherry Harrington deliberately exaggerated and twisted the truth.

In reality, she noticed that Arvin Douglas's icy gaze softened slightly after hearing Yvonne Harrington's words, so she hastily added this line.

"Yes, your sister only said a few words to you. Why did you want to kill her?"

Isabel Wollaston echoed Sherry Harrington.

Arvin Douglas's expression indeed darkened again.

The next second, he tightened his grip on Yvonne Harrington's wrist and said coldly, "Regardless of the process, you intended to kill. Go to the police station!"

"It's her who tried to kill me! Let go of me! What does this have to do with you?"

"With witnesses here, you'd better behave and wait for prison!"

Arvin Douglas's eyes filled with disdain, and he spoke with a hint of revulsion.

In his eyes, Yvonne Harrington was now a madwoman.

Sherry Harrington's eyes lit up at these words, but she quickly hid her joy.

"So, I've offended your darling?" Yvonne Harrington tried to pull her hand free, but to no avail. She could only sneer coldly, "Then you should get your eyes checked. Only someone as vulgar as you could like such a two-faced, manipulative lotus."

This time, Sherry Harrington was stunned.

Because... no one dared to speak to Arvin Douglas like this.

Yvonne Harrington actually used such a word. It seemed she was permanently blacklisted by Arvin Douglas.

The air suddenly turned several degrees colder.

Yvonne Harrington felt her hand was about to be crushed, the pain making her want to scream.

Arvin Douglas suddenly drew a sharp breath.

Yvonne Harrington bit down on the man's arm with all her might.

Arvin Douglas finally released her, looking down at the bite marks on his arm.

Yvonne Harrington let out another cold snort, lifting her head to meet his terrifying gaze without fear.

"I was driven mad by you two scoundrels! You're disgusting!"

Arvin Douglas's brows furrowed so deeply they nearly formed a character.

He swore he had never encountered such an arrogant and domineering woman before; she was practically indistinguishable from a lunatic.

"Get out!"

From childhood, he had always been revered by others. Yvonne Harrington's treatment of him was undoubtedly a humiliation.

"Sister, you should leave for today," Sherry Harrington advised.

Yvonne Harrington's eyes were bloodshot, and seeing Sherry Harrington's tearful, wronged look, her heart sank into despair.

"Disgusting!"

"Please leave immediately!"

The security guards from outside barked, their tone as if they were driving away a beggar. They grabbed Yvonne Harrington and threw her out.

"Let me go!"

"You don't have a choice!"

At the grand entrance, surrounded by many people, the paparazzi, still in shock, began snapping photos of the disheveled and humiliated woman being thrown out.

Yvonne Harrington lifted her head, meeting the mocking gazes of everyone.

In their eyes, she was an ugly woman trying to catch Arvin Douglas's attention, only to end up worse off.

Tears streamed down Yvonne Harrington's face uncontrollably.

Her white shirt was covered in dust, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't brush it off.

When the reporters tried to ask more questions, Yvonne Harrington pushed them aside and ran away in a panic.
