Mark’s POV

I didn’t trust Alice. Not for a second.

She had been quiet lately—too quiet. For a woman who always had something to say, the silence felt like a storm waiting to hit. I didn’t like it.

The moment I stepped into the house, I felt the tension in the air. Something was off. My gut never lied.

I heard voices coming from the living room. Sage’s voice—sharp and cutting. And Alice’s…sickly sweet with that fake innocence she wore like armor.

I moved closer, standing just out of sight.

“I don’t get it,” Alice said, her tone dripping with condescension. “You’re cute, sure—but do you really think you can keep up with him? You can’t handle a man like Mark.”

Sage didn’t flinch. “Funny, considering he doesn’t even want you.”

I smirked. My girl always had a sharp tongue. But Alice wasn’t done.

“Oh, honey,” Alice cooed, leaning closer. “You’re just a distraction. You’re something he’s playing with until he gets bored. And when that happens? He’ll come back to me. He always does.”

I clench

  • DADDY'S LITTLE PLAYTHING    CHAPTER 066

Mark’s POVThe cold warehouse smelled like metal and oil. My fists clenched as I stood in the middle of the room, heart pounding in my chest. The dim lights flickered overhead, casting jagged shadows across the concrete floor. Sage was tied to a metal chair in the corner, her face pale, lips pressed together to hide her fear—but I knew it was there. I could feel it like a blade twisting in my gut.Alice leaned against a nearby table, arms crossed over her chest, a wicked smile curling at the edges of her mouth. She looked relaxed—too relaxed for someone threatening to kill the only woman I’d ever loved. Her blonde hair fell in perfect waves over her shoulder, and she wore a sleek black dress that clung to her curves like a second skin.“I’m impressed, Mark,” she purred, tapping a manicured finger against her lips. “You found me faster than I thought you would.”I barely looked at her. My eyes stayed locked on Sage, silently scanning for any sign she was hurt. The ropes around her wris

MARK’ POVI should’ve known Alice wouldn’t give up that easily. The second I got that text—“If you want her alive, marry me.”—I knew I was done for. But threatening Sage? That crossed a line.My grip tightened on the steering wheel as I sped through the dark streets. Hector’s call still echoed in my head."We tracked her, boss. It’s Alice. She’s been pulling the strings the whole time. Cholo was just her puppet."I wasn’t surprised. A woman like Alice never takes orders—she gives them. And now, she had Sage.My jaw clenched as I remembered the last time I saw her. I thought sending her away would be enough. I thought she’d let it go. But Alice wasn’t the type to walk away without a fight. I had gone for a stroll and when I had come back to the Cabin Sage was missing, i thought she had gone for a walk, after six hours I knew it was fucking serious.I glanced at the gun resting on the passenger seat. If she laid a finger on Sage, I’d kill her without blinking. No hesitation. No regrets.

Mark’s POVI needed to get away. With Alice finally out of our lives, there was nothing tying us down anymore. And if anyone deserved a break—it was Sage. So, I planned a trip. Just us. No guards. No distractions. Just the sound of the waves and her body against mine. The sun was setting when we arrived at my old beach house—a sleek, glass-fronted place tucked against a private stretch of white sand. I hadn’t been here in years, but everything was the same. Quiet. Isolated. Ours.Sage stepped inside first, slipping off her sunglasses and glancing around. “Wow… this is…”“Over the top?” I teased, tossing the car keys on the kitchen counter. She smirked. “I was going to say ‘gorgeous.’”I walked up behind her, wrapping my arms around her waist. “Not as gorgeous as you.”Her laugh was soft, but the way her body melted against mine? Yeah—I felt that everywhere.“Smooth,” she whispered, tilting her head back against my chest.I brushed a kiss against her neck, loving the way she shivered.

Mark’s PovI knew Alice would try something. She always does. The moment she asked me to meet her alone in the study, I should’ve said no. But here I am, leaning against the desk while she paces the room like she owns it. Same old Alice—always pushing her luck.“I’m not here to play games,” I tell her, my voice flat. “Say what you need to say.”She stops, turning those sharp green eyes on me. “Mark, you’re not happy. I know you.” Her tone softens, like she’s trying to be sweet. “You think she can handle you? The real you?”I clench my jaw. “Sage’s stronger than you think.”Alice laughs under her breath. “Please. She’s just a girl playing tough. Sooner or later, she’ll run.” She steps closer, her perfume heavy in the air. “You and I… we’re the same, Mark. We both know it.”I don’t answer. I won’t give her the satisfaction.“You loved me once,” she says quietly, her voice softer now. “You can love me again.”I force a cold smile. “I loved who I thought you were. Turns out, that woman di

The gun felt heavier in my hand than I expected. Cold. Solid. Dangerous. I liked it.Mark stood behind me, his chest pressed against my back, his breath warm against my neck. His hands slid over mine, adjusting my grip on the handle."Relax your fingers," he murmured, his voice low and smooth. "You're holding it too tight."Easy for him to say. My heart was pounding, and not because of the gun. Having him this close—after everything—was messing with my head. And my body.I loosened my fingers, and his hands stayed over mine, warm and steady. "Better?" I asked, tilting my head back slightly. His lips curved into a small smirk. "Better."He moved my arms up, positioning the gun toward the target he had set up. The tension between us was thick—almost unbearable. Every touch lingered a little too long. Every brush of his fingers sent a spark through me.I cleared my throat, trying to focus. "So, what next? Point and shoot?"He chuckled softly, his chest vibrating against my back. "If it w
