Mr Ken didn't take his eyes off Ryan for a second as Mrs Clyde battled for words.
“Um, I'll take my leave for now, the atmosphere isn't business friendly at the moment,” he said and turned to walk away. “No.. don't leave!” Mrs Clyde called while trying to go after him. He paid no attention and walked out immediately. “You girls, go after him! And make sure we secure the deal!!” She yelled at her girls who were befuddled at the moment. They both nodded and ran out at once. Ryker shut his eyes bitterly and then he threw a baleful glance at Samantha and asked, “How dare you show your face?”. Samantha tried to speak but Ryan grabbed hold of her hands and hushed her. “Enough of your nuisance, Ryan!! How dare you step out?!! You and this filthy bitch!” Mrs Clyde yelled, walking towards Samantha and Ryan. “Oh, really? I am a legal son of this family and I deserve to be recognized,” Ryan defended. Ryker scoffed and walked towards him. “Just hear yourself,” he chuckled, taking a firm stand in front of him. “ You're not welcome here, don't you get it?” He asked impolitely. Their eyes locked fiercely and Mrs Clyde tried to pull Ryker away. “The moment you choose drugs over this family, the moment you choose to humiliate and betray this family, the moment you killed father, you stopped being a Clyde!!” Ryker bellowed in his face. “I didn't kill father, I didn't betray the family, how long am I going to explain my innocence?!” Ryan cried, his blue eyes filled with emotions as he felt subdued by his brother's words. “You don't have to explain. I've told you countlessly, the only way to redeem yourself is to return to rehab and come back clean. Return to rehab, Ryan, return and clean up the mess you've made with your life; And when you return, everyone would be willing to welcome you back, and you can reclaim your rightful position in this family. Aren't you tired of being treated like an outcast? Hmm?” Mrs Clyde asked, touching his chin. His eyes became filled with tears as he felt his mother's palm caressing his face. “Go back, redeem yourself,” she coarsed. He paused and took a glance at Samantha who was watching him with tears streaming down her cheek. He walked away immediately and Samantha's knees became feeble, he was her only defender against these people, if he leaves, she's dead, she thought and broke into tears immediately. Mrs Clyde’s lips broke into a smugly smile as she turned to Ryker who was watching Ryan walk up the stairs. “Now you!” She called, grabbing hold of Samantha's hair. “Haven't you done enough?!” She yelled and landed a blistering slap on her cheek. Samantha knelt on the floor and began to weep. “Were you sent to destroy me, hmm? How dare you show your face without being called up! Do you know what you've caused this family?!” She bawled at the weeping Samantha. “I'm sorry, mother, I never knew!!” Samantha pleaded with tears. “If I lose this multi million deal, you're dead!!” She threatened. “Enough, mother. Send her to the dungeon,” Ryker ordered from where he stood, his grey eyes watching the whole scene in dissatisfaction. “Great, that'll be the nicest place for you at the moment,” Mrs Clyde nodded. Just then, Claris walked in, looking dejected. “Where is your sister?” Her mother asked. “She went off with Mr Ken, he chose her over me!!” She cried, springing her feet on the floor angrily. “It doesn't matter, dear, anything to secure the deal,” she said with a smirk and Claris pouted her lips and turned to Samantha. “You!” She called and walked towards her. “You ruined my chances of being with Mr Ken!” She yelled and kicked Samantha with her silver heels. Samantha began to cry again and just then, two bodyguards walked in. “Take her away, to the dungeon,” Ryker ordered. “Mother, please!!” She cried as she was pulled up from the floor and the guards dragged her away. “I still want Mr Ken!! I want him, ahhh..ahhh!!” Claris cried and ran up the stairs angrily. “Son, I believe Mr Ken suspects a thing about Samantha,” Mrs Clyde said to Ryker as soon as Claris was out. “No, he doesn't. He believes she's a maid,” Ryker affirmed. “We can't trust anybody, rumors might fly tomorrow. The public's eyes are already on us, and we don't wanna give them another chance of doubt, it's ruining our reputation. Look how hard it was to find a bride,” she said thoughtfully as she walked closer to him. “So what are you suggesting?” Ryker asked curiously. “Tomorrow, you'll step out with your wife. Yes, we need to give them the impression that we're treating your new bride right, in contrast to whatever rumors might fly,” she said. “But..there are no rumors yet,” he scoffed. “You don't wait to get caught before you run,” she gestured with her index finger moving back and forth at his face. “I can't stand her,” he said coldly. “It's all for the cam,” she said with a smirk as she turned with her back facing him. “When is the doctor coming for the test?” He asked after her. “We haven't heard from doctor Steve yet, but he's promised to send in the doctor soon,” she replied. “We're running out of time, mother,” he said worriedly. “I know,” she said and turned to look at him. “But we're getting there, starting from your brother leaving the mansion,” she smiled sinisterly and walked away. ** He stood beside the large mirror, looking at the white substance wrapped in a small plastic bag. He swallowed hard, and the veins on his neck became visible. He placed the substance in his pocket and sighed heavily. “It's time to return, I'm sorry Samantha,” he said to himself as he grabbed his black jacket on the bed and walked out of the room. Walking through the passageway, his heart became heavy at the thought of leaving Samantha behind. He knew what awaited her here in the mansion, but she had proved adamant to receive his help. She chose this life and he had decided to choose his. He needed to return to rehab so as to redeem himself before his family for a crime he committed years ago. He just hopes she'll be alive to witness his glorious return, he thought and let out a sigh. He stopped for a moment, hearing voices from the other side of the passageway. “She's at the dungeon already, without food and water. I hope she doesn't die of starvation, it's quite unfair how the family is treating such a poor innocent soul,” he heard the voice of a maid. His heart began to thump and his eyes bulged. He couldn't believe they had thrown her into the dungeon and his blood grew hot immediately. He barged into the maids who were gossiping in low tones and they quickly threw a greeting and walked past him. Without thinking twice, he headed backwards and zoomed off to his mother's chambers. “Ok doc, we'll be expecting you soon,” Mrs Clyde ended her call as soon as she saw Ryan walking into the chamber. “I thought you're gone!” She barked. “So desperate to see me leave, uh? So you can murder her like you did to Vanessa?” He blurted out with a scoff. “How dare you accuse me of Vanessa's murder!!” Mrs Clyde yelled and stood up from her seat. She gave him a heavy slap and he licked his lips and chuckled. “You got nothing on me, mother. I want you to free Samantha from the dungeon right away,” he warned confidently. “And if I don't?” She asked with a smirk. “You'll hear from the media soon,” he threatened and turned, his back facing her. “Really?” She smirked and placed her arms akimbo. “And so you should know, I changed my mind. I'm staying,” he said, turning to look at her. “No..you can't stay here,” she countered, walking to meet him. “Why? Afraid of something?” He smirked. “No,. your presence causes humiliation, more reasons your father never included you in his affairs,” she smirked. “You're nothing but a mistake,” she cursed. He swallowed hard and wiped his lips. “I've heard that countlessly. Free Samantha and escape my wrath,” he warned and stormed out immediately. She remained silent, watching him walk away. “You still won't go away? We shall see,” she said with a smirk and turned back to the couch. She wiped the tears off her cheek as she heard movements outside the dungeon. It was quite dark and only the lights in front of the dungeon gates lit up the passageway. Standing up from the cold rough floor, she walked to the metal gates, roving her eyes around the passageway. Just then, his broad figure appeared in front of her, wearing a black hoodie and black shorts. “Ryan,” she cried almost immediately as he took the hood off his head. “Sam,” he called sympathetically as he touched the metal gate. “I..I thought you left,” she burst out emotionally. “I tried to, but I couldn't leave you here. Sam, I need to break you out of here. You need to be free, I can help you escape out of here,” he offered with enthusiasm. “It would pose a big risk to you and I. I have nowhere to go, no family of my own. If I escape, your family will come after me, they'll find me with their last breath,” she panicked as she looked deep into his eyes. “I'll protect you.. I'll keep you safe away from
The voices of the women woke her up and she opened her eyes to see Anna standing in front of the bed, alongside Hailey, the brown skin maid. She had been asked to move out of the maids’ quarters last night and she wondered what the girls were doing in her room.“Mrs Clyde ordered us to prepare your bath,” Anna said softly. “Your glam team is waiting outside to get you ready for your big day,” Hailey said with a little bit of excitement.“Big day? I don't get it,” she scoffed as she sat up right. The girls helped her up the bed and prepared her bath. Her glam team arrived after her bath, and they helped dress her up in a white short flared dress with bogus sleeves. Her short brunette hair was bobbed on both sides of her face which wore a beautiful makeup. Her feet slipped perfectly into silver glittery heels, adding to the beauty of her outfit. “You look beautiful, ma'am,” Anna whispered.“Thank you,” she said with a satisfied smile. She was led out of the room by madam Kate who arri
They both pulled away from each other and she quickly rushed to the door. “Hide,” she whispered to Ryan who was still unmoved. She watched him hide in the closet and then she opened the door for Mrs Clyde to come in.“Mother,” she called humbly as she stood behind Mrs Clyde who was looking all over the room.“I thought I heard a voice,” she said and sat on the single sofa in the room.“Not really, “ Samantha cut in sharply and walked to the bed nervously.“You did well by being a good girl out there. But there is something else I'll need you to do,” Mrs Clyde said with all seriousness. “I don't care whatever relationship you once had with Ryan, I want you to stay away from him,” she warned. Samantha swallowed hard, her heart racing fast.“Mother..,” she tried to speak.“I believe I'm clear,” Mrs Clyde cut in.“I..I will ma'am,” she replied.“Good,” she said and walked out of the room.As soon as the door was shut, Ryan sprang out of his hiding, his face now red with anger as he star
Slowly, she walked into Ryker's capacious bedroom. She looked around slowly, and memories of her wedding night saga flooded her thoughts. The door opened, and Ryker walked into the room bodaciously. Samantha gasped at his sight, and moved towards the king sized bed slowly. She lowered her gaze from his face as she saw the dark stare he gave her. He made a few steps towards her and stopped right in front of her. Her feet began to tremble and her palm became sweaty. His palm cupped around her chin and he lifted her face. She shut her eyes fearfully and he let out a cold breath which swept across her face.“Look at me,” he ordered with the coldest voice possible. She opened her eyes at once and their eyes met. His grey fierce looking eyes burned deeply into her eyes and she felt like urinating on her underwear at the moment.“Now that you've been pardoned, you've restored your glory as my wife. Now, look,” he ordered calmly. Her lips quivered as their eyes locked again.“If I ever find
Walking into his room, he was taken aback, seeing Samantha on the bed. “What are you doing here?! Is dinner over yet?!” He thundered from where he stood. “Oh.. I was done with my meal,” she explained quickly. “Hmph,” he fumed and walked out of the room. She wondered why he was so angry about everything. After changing into her red nightie, she laid on the bed and pulled the brown duvet over her body. All she could think of right now was Ryan. She tossed on her bed, trying to wade him off her thoughts. In no due time, sleep crept her away. It was 12:30am when she heard loud voices outside her room. She opened her eyes and looked at the bed in hopes of finding Ryker beside her. He wasn't there, and she stood up at once. She heard footsteps at the stairs leading down to the foyer and she walked out of her room gently. As she walked out of the passage, she bumped into Anna, Betty and Hailey who were running to the foyer. “What's going on?” She asked anxiously. Anna and Hailey s
Her eyelids fluttered, and she opened her eyes slowly as she felt cold dewdrops on her skin. She looked in dismay at the dark sky and she wondered why she was seeing the sky instead of a roof. She jolted out of her thoughts as she quickly recalled how she had spent the night with Ryan out here in the open. His muscular arm felt heavy underneath her breast, and she looked up at his face.He was fast asleep, with her body now resting on his thick bare chest, and his arms wrapped around her body. Her eyes trailed to his red soft lips, with the shape of a cupid bow, and all she wanted right away was a long passionate kiss from those lips. As if struck by something, she shook her head and slid her body away from his hands as careful as she could. She spread her jacked over his body and gave him a gentle pat before walking away.Stepping into the building, her heart began to race with fear of Ryker being back in the bedroom. The house was as quiet as a graveyard and she made little sounds
“Your mother?” She asked warily. He sniffed and walked to the bed. She followed behind him and they both sat on the bed while she placed a hand on his shoulder.“She has friends whose kids were into drugs, and she'll always take me to visit them. They introduced me to it, and ever since then, I've not been able to break free,” he related sadly with his gaze on the floor. “And she knew they were into drugs?” Samantha asked thoughtfully.“Yes, she knew. She was fully aware,” he replied.“How did she react after finding out you've been initiated?” Samantha asked curiously.“She felt really bad. She told my father and the rest of the family. They asked that I be thrown into rehab,” he replied calmly.“She felt bad? She didn't take responsibility for any of it?” Samantha scoffed.Ryan looked up at her face.“She's innocent, I made bad friends and the consequences are on me,” he said.“That's what she told you,” Samantha scoffed again.“How..how did you know?” He asked, looking stupefied.
Her eyes protrude out of it's sockets and she turned swiftly towards Ryan. “I'm off,” she said hastily and tried to run away.He grabbed hold of her hand and she stopped.“I'll come with you,” he offered.“You wanna make this more complicated?” she asked seriously as she pulled away from his grips. She ran away with Anna and her heart began to race as they ran along the passage.“Where is he?” She asked, trying to catch her breath.“On the third floor I suppose,” Anna replied anxiously. “Why are your hands wet? And why was he standing behind you, half unclad?” She whispered with a silly smile.Samantha hit her slightly on the arms and continued walking fast. They stopped as footsteps were heard coming from the stairs. “I think they're here,” Anna whispered, standing behind Samantha.“Go,” Samantha whispered to her and she ran away immediately.Just then, Ryker appeared at the stairs with Mrs Clyde beside him. Betty and two of the male bodyguards were also seen walking with them.Sam
The receptionist welcomed them warmly as they stopped before her desk. “We were the ones who reached out to you on the phone, concerning Mr Ken who was lodging at your hotel last night,” Ryker related to the female receptionist whose face was locked in a smile. “Oh, Mr Ryker of CTECH,” she awed, getting up from her seat at once. “We want every information we can get about him. We know this is out of work ethics, but it's urgent. He has a wedding today and he's nowhere to be found,” Ryan explained with enthusiasm. “Oh, that's sad,” the lady said, picking up her phone. “I'll contact my manager before giving out any info,” she said, typing on her telephone. The men waited impatiently. “I'll be back,” she said, walking away. Not long, she walked in with a man in his early forties, dressed in a black fitted suit. They all exchanged pleasantries and handshakes. “From the information gathered by the receptionist, he checked out at around 11:15pm. He was with a lady and they b
It was a beautiful yet chaotic morning at the Clyde's mansion. Everyone was seen preparing for the big day. Sophia, glamorously fitted in her white wedding dress, was standing before the mirror as her glam team placed her veil over her head. “Still no news from Claris?!” She snapped angrily at her bridesmaids who were all dressed beautifully in pink. “No, her line is not connecting,” one of the girls replied. “Oh, jeez!!” Sophia cried in frustration. The door opened and Claris walked into the room, still dressed in her last night's outfit. “I can't believe you aren't even dressed yet!!” Sophia fired. “Aww, beautiful sis. I'm so sorry, I got a call last night from my boyfriend and he asked that I spend the night over,” she related, feigning pity. “Same invisible boyfriend who never shows his face!” Sophia scoffed. Claris smirked. “So sorry, sweetie. By the way, you're looking, muah,” she teased, blowing her a kiss. “Do you realize you're supposed to be my maid of hono
They both gasped for breath as they pulled away from each other. “I love you, Ken, please don't leave me for my sister,” Claris cried, holding on to his shoulders tightly. He wiped the perspiration off his face and held her slender waists. “I can't break Sophia's heart,” he whispered to her face. She shoved him away and he sighed as he watched her weep heavily. “I'll see you inside,” he said and walked away from her. She sat on the floor weeping with her hair falling over her face. Just then, she felt a presence beside her. She looked up and saw Sasha standing a few meters away from her. “Hey,” Sasha called gently. “Go away, I don't need you here!” She thundered. “Why cry over that man when you can be like me?” Sasha laughed, sipping her drink elegantly. Claris wiped her eyes and looked at Sasha in an abstruse manner. “What are you talking about?!” She snapped. Sasha smirked. “I saw you guys,” she spilled. Claris jumped up from the floor. She threw her hair be
It was an all white party at the Clyde's mansion. Sophia was having her spinsters eve, alongside her girls. A small family party was also taking place at the garden and members of the Clyde's family were seen partying hard. Ryker walked in, casually dressed in a blue silk sweatshirt and black pants. Alongside him was Sasha, dressed in a white satin sleeveless dress which flowed down her toes. They both walked towards Mrs Clyde who was sitting alongside Aunt Susan and two middle aged women. “Where is baby Ryette?” Aunt Susan asked almost immediately. “Oh, he's with Ryan. He's taken a liking for the baby so much and he wouldn't let anyone come close,” Mrs Clyde related with a smile. The women laughed and Aunt Susan smiled. “That's his first nephew, you should let him be,” she remarked and they all laughed again. Ryker's face pulled into a frown as he walked away from the table where the women were seated. “What's wrong?” Sasha asked, throwing her hair behind her shoulders.
His alluringly soothing voice was heard, singing rhymes to the baby as they both took a walk in the garden. It was a perfect afternoon and the atmosphere was cool and mild. Baby Ryette, dressed in a black pinafore shorts and white facecap was seen in Ryan's arms as they took a shade under a tree in the garden. Anna was also seen walking behind them, holding a small basket. She spread a picnic cloth on the green grass and Ryan placed the baby on it. “Can he sit yet?” He asked, trying to make him sit. “Yes, he can sit for a while,” Anna replied with excitement. “Ta-da,” Ryan said happily as baby Ryette sat on the grass, and a few set of toys were placed before him. He laid on the grass, watching the baby play. His heart engrossed with emotions and his lips broadened with a smile. He doesn't know this feeling he was getting with the baby. It was a kind of different feeling which he couldn't explain. Ever since he set eyes on baby Ryette, it felt like Samantha was back in
Ken pulled Sophia into the room and shut the door behind her. He watched her pull away from him and she walked over to the window angrily. “Babe, stop it. Our big day is close, and you shouldn't give yourself a headache,” he said tenderly as he walked closer to her. “I hate Ryan so much. Look what he did out there? In front of the family?! Oh, that's crazy. I shouldn't have told him about Vanessa's death, oh!” She lamented with her hand running into her hair. Ken paused for a moment, staring at her. “You..you know something about Vanessa's death?” He asked. She looked up quickly and made a face. “Um..no, um..I mean, I shouldn't have informed him about her death. Look what he did out there, accusing Ryker of killing both Vanessa and Samantha,” she scoffed. He sighed and sat on the armchair close to the window. “Is there something I need to know about your family?” He asked seriously as he looked deep into her eyes. “Ken, come on. Ryan is sick!” She laughed, shaking her h
“You look so great, baby,” Ryker teased, watching Sasha brush her long hair in front of the mirror. “Thanks, love. I'm just nervous, knowing Aunt Susan is out there. She gives me the shrills,” Sasha lamented with a sigh. “She's got nothing on you. Don't be scared. As soon as Sophia's wedding is over, I'll let the whole family know of my intention to marry you,” he said, walking towards her. She made a face and turned to look at him. “We..we never really talked about marriage,” she said with a scoff. “I know,” he said, taking hold of her hands. “But I want you to be my bride,” he said with a smile. “Ryker.. it's too early for such..people..,” she tried to speak. “Shh,” he hushed her with his finger on her red lips. “Sas, I want to spend the rest of my life with you,” he said softly while looking into her beautiful round eyes. “Ryker, I..,” she tried to speak but was interrupted by loud voices from outside the building. “What's going on?” Ryker asked, walking to the wind
It was dim as he walked into the room. He could see her silhouette standing by the window side. “Ryker,” he heard her frail voice calling. “Mother,” he responded calmly. Standing beside her, he took a clear view of her face which was adorned with makeup. She was stunningly dressed in a black velvet dress with a sharp cape neckline. “Where have you been?” He asked grumpily. “Been out with Mr Daren,” she replied with a voice void of emotions. He made a face as he looked at her abruptly. “You've been fucking that lawyer again!!” He slammed, his grey eyes flamed with fury. “Yes, and everything I'm doing is for you, Ryker. I'm giving up my body, my dignity, my peace of mind and my mental health, all for you, my son,” she spoke with a shaky voice brewing emotions. “Mother, just stop!” He voiced out angrily with his hands raised. “Look what they did, Ryker. It's clear Mark never liked you. You saw what he did with his will. If we weren't able to manipulate our way to the compa
The baby naming ceremony was conducted soon after Samantha was laid to rest. The next day, the whole family was seated for the reading of Mr Clyde's Will. Ryan was still absent, but the reading commenced anyway. In the large living room was Sophia, seated beside her fiance Ken. Ryker and Sasha were also spotted sitting together on the next couch. Opposite them was Mrs Clyde and Claris, while Aunt Susan sat on a single sofa with her legs crossed elegantly. The lawyer, a middle aged man in his fifties, was sitting on the middle couch, preparing his files. Everyone listened attentively as the lawyer read out the will diligently. “The landed properties, beach club, and real estate both in Zurich and in the United States will be inherited by my only surviving sister, Susan,” the lawyer read out. A warm smile appeared on Aunt Susan's lips and she could see Sophia smiling at her. Mrs Clyde forced a smile on her lips as her eyes met with Aunt Susan. Ryker's face hardened and he took
