Raven disappeared down the hallway again, his excited footsteps echoing as he explored the house. Ethan's eye lingered on Sophia, her face pale but her gaze sharp despite her exhaustion.

“. Sorry about the other night,” Ethan began, his voice measured.

Sophia's lips curled into a bitter smile, her tone low and laced with sarcasm. “ The other night, huh?” She leaned forward slightly, her elbows resting on her knees . “ What other night, Ethan? The other night you hurt me to be with your mistress?”

The room went utterly silent, the kind of silent that felt suffocating. Ethan's jaw tightened, his eyes flickering with something unreadable.

“ That's not how it happened,” he said finally, his voice steady but strained.

“ Then tell me what did,” Sophia shot back, her voice rising. “ Because I remember you choosing someone else over me .I remember you tearing apart everything we had like it didn't matter.”

Ethan ran a hand over his face, his frustration evident. “ You think I don't regret it

An hour later, the doorbell rang. Ethan opened it, and there she was, Sarian, standing in front of him, wearing a short skirt that revealed most of her legs, her posture confident and knowing.“ Ethan,” she purred, stepping closer with an almost predatory grace. “ I see you missed me.”Before he could respond, she closed the gap between them, wrapping her hands around him like a hug.Ethan didn't move an inch, his face expressionless. He wasn't here for games, not today.Ethan's jaw tightened as Sarian leaned in closer, her eyes glinting with mischief. “ Take a seat, Sarian,” he said calmly, stepping back and gesturing to the living room. She raised an eyebrow but complied, sitting down on the couch with a slight smirk on her face. “ You know, I didn't expect you to be so… business- like about this, Ethan.”Ethan took a seat across from her, his gaze steady and piercing.“ I need you to do something for me…” his voice was measured, but the underlying force was unmistakable.Sarian's l

The Next DayElena walked into the living room, her heels clicking softly against the floor as she made her toward Sophia, who was sitting on the couch, deep in thought. The tension in the air was palpable, but Elena could see that Sophia had been through a lot lately.“ Hey, how are you holding up? Elena asked, her voice gentle but with an underlying concern.Sophia looked up, forcing a smile. “ I'm fine, Elena just…a lot on my mind.”Elena took a seat next to her. “ Well, i have some gossip to lighten the mood, if you're interested.”Sophia raised an eyebrow. “ Gossip? Hi ahead.”“ Okay, so you won't believe this,” Elena started, leaning in slightly. “ Sarian got fired.”Sophia blinked, surprised. “ What? Sarian? Fired? By who?”“ Suzy,” Elena replied, a smirk playing on her lips. “ Apparently, Suzy had enough of her antics. She's been making things so difficult around the office lately, and Suzy finally had enough. She let her go.”Sophia let out a breath she didn't realise she's

APTER 105As the car pulled into Sophia's estate, the headlights illuminated Jacob, who was just pacing back and forth near the entrance. He stood abruptly as he saw the car open, his face etched with concern.“ Where have you been?” Jacob's voice was sharp, a mix of worry and frustration. “ You had me so worried Sophia.”Sophia stepped out of the car, her expression neutral. She didn't immediately respond, instead glancing at Gina, who was already approaching.“Gina,” Sophia said, her voice firm but tired, “ please take Raven inside.”Gina took Raven's hand gently. “ Come on, Raven. Let's get you settled.”Raven nodded reluctantly, glancing back at his Mom and Jacob as Gina led him inside.Once they were out of earshot, Jacob crossed his arms, his frown deepening. “ Do you have any idea how worried I was? You didn't even call to let me know where you were.”Sophia's eyes flickered with a mix of guilt and irritation. “ I didn't realise I had to check in like a child, Jacob.”“ That's

Raven hesitated, glancing between them, but nodded and left the room.Sophia exhaled shakily, brushing a hand over her face. “ You should've told me, Ethan. I deserved to know.”Ethan took a step closer. “ Sophia, I—”She shook her head, cutting him off . “ You think you can just decide things for me because it's what you think is right? I would have made the same choice, Ethan, but I deserved to be part of it.”“ Sophia, it was about shutting you out,” he said, his voice low. “ It was about keeping you safe, about making sure you'd survive. That was all that mattered to me.”Her voice cracked as she continued, tears polling in her eyes. “ But don't you understand how it feels to wakeup and find out someone did something so…so guheyfir you, and you didn't even know.”Her words hit like a punch to the chest, and Ethan felt his heart ache at the sight of her crumbling. “ Sophia…”Her voice dropped to a whisper, trembling with emotion. “ You scare me sometimes, Ethan. Because you care

Raven grabbed Ethan's hand as they walked back toward the guest room. “ Can you stay with me and Mom? I don't want her to be alone.”Ethan's heart clenched at the boy's earnestness. He knelt down again, looking Raven in the eye. “ I'll stay next to you. Hek about this, you sleep next to Mom, and I'll be next to you, okay?”Raven nodded, his worried easing slightly. Ethan helped him climb into the bed, tucking him beside Sophia. As Raven settled down, Sophia's phone began to ring from the bedside table. Ethan reached for it, seeing Jacob's name flash across the screen. With a sigh, he declined the call and quickly texted: I'll be home soon. Don't worry. Raven's with me, and we're okay.Satisfied, he placed the phone back on the table and turned his attention to Raven, who was already starting to doze off, his small hand resting on his mother's arm.Ethan pulled a chair closer to the bed an sat down, his gaze shifting between Raven and Sophia. They looked so peaceful, yet he couldn't
