Her heart raced as she stared at the message, confusion swirling in her mind. She knew it was late, and this couldn't be just anyone. Only a few people had her number, Jacob being one of them.

Her thumb hovered over the reply button, unsure of what to do. Could it be him? And if it was, why at the rooftop? Why now, in the middle of the night?

Something told her not to go. But before she could stop herself, she grabbed a sweater, slipping quietly out the door. As she took the elevator, her pulse quickened with every second.

And then she saw him.

Ethan stood near the edge, hands in his pocket, his expression unreadable. His back was to her, and for a moment, she debated turning around, slipping away before she could notice her presence.

Back in his apartment, Ethan couldn't shake the thoughts that swirled in his mind . Jacob…are they really married? he wondered, pacing the floor. Has Sophia really moved on?The image of Raven calling Jacob “Dad” played over and over in his head . But then, at another moment, the boy had called him “ Uncle Jacob.” Ethan couldn't piece it together. Was Jacob just a close friend? Or had Sophia truly built a new life without him?He clenched his fists, feeling a tightness in his chest. The uncertainty gnawed on him, but he wasn't ready to face the truth yet. The night passed in restless wave for Ethan. Sleep evaded him, his mind playing every moment of the gala, the argument with Sarah, and most of all, Sophia. She was so close, below him , I'm the same building. He couldn't shake the gnawing need to see her again, to make sense of the emotions he was caught in.The clock read 6:00PM when he finally gave up trying to rest. The soft hum of the city waking up outside the window barely registered as he got up, throwing on a shirt and jeans. He paced the room for a few minutes, debating whether this was the right thing to do, but his feet moved on their own. Before he knew it, Ethan was standing in front of Sophia's door on the floor below. His hand hovered over the doorbell for a moment. What was he going to say . But the pull was too strong. He pressed the button, and after a few beats, the door opened. To his surprise, it wasn't Sophia who stood on the other side but Jacob. The man looked confused for a moment, his brows furrowing as he re

“Not that serious?” Ethan's voice came out low, cold, almost dangerous. His fists clenched at his sides, the weight of Sarian's words sinking into him like a knife . “ She saved your life, Sarian. And you ….. you trashed it like it meant nothing?”Sarian rolled her eyes, that infuriating smirk playing at the corner of her lips . She has always been this way careless, selfish , cruel and utterly incapable of seeing beyond her own needs . Ethan couldn't help but think how wrong he had been about her all those years ago.“ Spare me the lecture, Ethan,” she shot back, her voice dripping with disdain. “ You think you're some kind of hero, don't you? Running to her defence like she's some martyr ? She came between us , she's not innocent. None of us are.”His jaw tightened as he took a step closer, anger coursing him through. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Sophia had given up her blood to save Sarian's life, and this was how she repaid her back? With mockery and disdain? But before

As they entered the apartment, the soft hum of the elevator still lingered in the background. Elena offered a quiet goodnight before retreating to her room, leaving Sophia and Jacob alone in the living room. Sophia stood by the window, gazing out at the city lights, her mind replaying the events from the evening. She didn't want to talk about it , not now , not yet. The weight of everything with Sarian, and even Ethan, felt too heavy to carry at this moment.Jacob approached her gently, his presence calm and reassuring. He placed a hand on her shoulder, his touch warm . “ You don't have to say anything,” he murmured softly, as if sensing her need for silence.Sophia turned to face him, her eyes meeting his soft vulnerability. “ Thank you, Jay,” she whispered. “For always being there. For Raven, for myself….”Before he could respond, she leaned in , kissing him . What began a soft kiss quickly turn more intense, her hands finding their way to his chest , pulling him closer . He respo
