SLOANE

“What do you think?” I ask Mable who looks up from whatever she's baking to give me a once over.

“It's nice.” She says with no emotions.

Mable and Anderson are like Ian's shadows. They have zero expressions and zero personalities. Six months have gone by, and I've seen them repeat their daily schedule without fail and right on time. The only thing chaotic in this house is me.

“Oh come on! Say it like you mean it.” I groan.

I put in a lot of hours into making this sweater. Okay, it's not as good, but it's not bad either. I'm making a matching set for Charlotte and her comfort baby.

“It's very nice. Mrs. Quinn.” She says with the same expression.

"At least call me Sloane!”

She pauses and then sighs before looking up, “it's very nice, Sloane.” She says with more effort.

She even forces a smile, although it looks a little like she's having a seizure, but it's the thought that counts.

I stand from the table and rush to our room. I'm supposed to meet my grumpy husband for lunch

  • DEAR STRANGER, MARRY ME AGAIN   Chapter 37 ~ Saving him

SLOANE I fumble with my purse, my fingers trembling as I dig out the keycard. It takes me three tries to swipe it properly because the damn thing keeps beeping red like it's mocking me.“Come on, come on…” I hiss. Finally, the light turns green, and I shove the door open.A wall of smoke hits me so hard, I stumble back, coughing violently as my eyes immediately begin to burn.Tears roll down my face faster than I can blink them away, and a thick, acrid stench fills my nostrils.“Ian?” I call.Nothing. Just the relentless blare of the alarm and the suffocating swirl of smoke.“Ian!”I cover my mouth with my hand and push through, blinking rapidly. Talk about a wardrobe malfunction. I should have worn a long sleeved shirt. The whole suite is dark and hazy. I make it past a knocked-over chair, a shattered glass on the floor, when I stumble and fall. What the-Lying on the floor by the bed, with a pale face and a dark stain blooming across the front of his shirt, is my husband.“No,”

  • DEAR STRANGER, MARRY ME AGAIN   Chapter 35 ~ Payment for betrayal

IANI watch as my phone goes off with card expenses.Pushing my glasses back, I pick up my phone and notice it's a purchase of a crazy amount of Cotton and other stuff.A smile stretches my lips as I lean back against my chair. It's been a month since I started bringing her to work so I can protect her. I could have left bodyguards for her and let her do what she wants but the fuckers have let her get Kidnapped twice. I changed my entire staff leaving only Mable and Anderson. I would have fired him too but she is too used to him. So I let him off with a final warning. She's been spending my money trying to find solutions to the tasks given to her. Though I must say, I'm pretty impressed with how quick she's gotten a hang of things. She's able to run errands and help without much trouble. Which is a thorn on my side because it means I won't get lapdances for being her Savior. The door opens and she walks in with Rocco and Kade following behind with a number of shopping bags.“You ca

  • DEAR STRANGER, MARRY ME AGAIN   Chapter 34 ~ I'll help you

SLOANE I leave Ian’s office with the list in one hand… and the ghost of his kiss still on my lips.My heart is still pouring from all the adrenaline like someone cracked open my chest and let everything spill out. It's not beating calmly anymore. It's pounding loud and wild.I hate how he does that to me.How one look from him, one teasing smirk, has me forgetting how to breathe. How he makes anger and desire feel like the same thing.I’m slowly starting to forget why I ever wanted to keep my distance in the first place. It’s in the way he teases me, touches my hair, and wants to kiss me every time he sees me that has me weak. When I woke up, he could barely look at me, but now so much has changed I don't even remember what it feels like not to be touched by him. Somehow, somewhere between the late nights and the messy fights and the heat of his touch… I think I’m starting to want us to be more than we already are.God help me, I think I’m falling for my husband. The pediatric trau

  • DEAR STRANGER, MARRY ME AGAIN   Chapter 33 ~ My lap

SLOANE I head toward room six, ignoring the burn of Lian’s glare on my back. The hallway is quieter on this end, the fluorescent lights buzzing faintly overhead. When I push the door open, I’m greeted by a nurse organizing supplies and a woman in a lab coat tapping something into a tablet. She has short black hair with silver strands showing her age. Her face is fixed in a concentrating gaze, and I hesitate stepping in.Attached to her lab coat is an ID with the name Dr. Grant Mariana.Dr. Grant doesn’t look up right away.“Hi Dr.Grant. I was told to-”“Take that cart,” she cuts me off, still typing. “We’re short on meds for the east unit. The kids in 6B need fresh IVs, pain meds, and saline. You’ll find the med room down that hall, past the red door.”“But I have no-”“Qualifications. Yes, I heard. But you're here to help, and since you're now working in the hospital, I trust you can pick up a few medications. No?”“Ahh..yes..I guess so.”It's not like I'm administering them.“Good

  • DEAR STRANGER, MARRY ME AGAIN   Chapter 32 ~ Something Simple

SLOANE One: I'm late. Two: I'm lostThree: My legs are still shaking from how hard the orgasm hit me.“Sloane?” A familiar voice calls me, and I turn. I smile as I come face to face with Tyson. He looks dashing in his white dust coat with the stethoscope around his neck. “Ty!” I smile as he gives me a side hug. “I honestly didn’t think I'd see you again. Seeing how we left things the other night.” He waves me off, “Your husband did try to get me transferred, but I recently moved here, so Dr. Quinn Snr thankfully rejected it. He said a transfer is only possible after three months. I'm pretty sure he'll move me by then.” He laughs, and guilt grips me.I had a feeling. But if Ian's dad rejected it, it means Tyson is also from money and connections. Otherwise, not even the Snr Doctor would have heard about this transfer. Right after our hot session in the car park, he called Anderson and asked him to come home immediately. My guts told me this was that urgent thing he told him he nee
