I'm dressed in a black turtleneck sweater that has a high neckline and long sleeves. The sweater is made of a soft, knit fabric and has a ribbed texture around the neck and cuffs. Then over the sweater, I'm wearing a beige high waisted, wide leg pants.
I'm usually not a fan of high heels, it hurts my ankles like crazy, but my mom made me wear it because according to her, wearing heels makes one look classy and I have to look classy enough to be worthy of being married into the Griffins family.
I almost gagged when she said that.
The car arrived at the parking lot of a famous boutique that only the rich in our town went to, and my mom and Aya came down from the car.
"What are you waiting for? Get down." Mom snapped at me when I still sat in the car.
We all came to the boutique for clothes shopping because we are having a family dinner with the Rover Pack and Aya said all the clothes I had was trash and not dinner worthy, so here we are.
I came down from the car and trailed behind them quietly, with a lot on my mind.
Among other things, was the several plots of how I could escape.
I can't marry Mason Griffin or whatever his name is, I can't commit my whole life to being married to a total stranger because of the pack. I just can't. So I have to run away for my life.
I already left my family behind before and built a life for myself in Boston without their assistance and I was genuinely happy without them. I can do it again, I will run away like I did before and this time I will make sure they never set their eyes on me again. But the bone of contention now is how do I run away? with all the eyes on me, my father, my mother and especially Aya always have their eyes on me because they already suspect that I might run away one day.
"Hi, can you get us your most expensive and classiest dresses? My daughter here is getting married and we're meeting the inlaws." My mother said to the first worker we saw as soon as we entered the boutique.
The redhead lady with the name, Joan on her name tag, smiled awkwardly and nodded. She looked at Aya and I, wondering who the bride to be was.
"Oh, she's the one getting married. Not me, definitely not me." Aya said and pushed me forward.
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes, and I stood in front of Joan, with my head drooped and my hands folded in front of me.
My mom suddenly separated my hands from each other harshly and snapped at me, "Stop doing that! You're about to be married to the Alpha to be of Rover Pack, you should stop slouching like a lowlife. This is all because you abandoned your root and got mixed up with the low lives in Boston. But you don't have to make that obvious, we don't want Mason Griffin to change his mind."
Joan was trying hard to dart her eyes away and be professional and pretend not to listen to everything my mom just said. I looked around and realized that we were definitely not alone in the boutique, other customers heard every single word my mom said to me. While I stood there completely and utterly embarrassed, my own mother just announced to the whole town that I was about to be sold off to a stranger because of their influence.
I felt my heart start beating faster than usual, and beads of sweat starts forming on my forehead.
"Okay. It's nice to meet you, I'm Joan. I'll be in charge of your wardrobe today, you just need to tell me your tastes and preference." Joan says to me politely.
"I thought I already mentioned the taste of dresses we want, classy and expensive, something worthy of wearing to a family dinner with very respectable inlaws. " My mom said to Joan, sounding annoyed at her for asking the question.
Joan smiled gently, "I know, Mrs Thompson but your daughter is the one who will be wearing the dresses, right? So I'd like to hear from her directly."
This ticked my mom off and I saw her brows twitch in anger, but before she could react Aya came forward, "Listen here, you foul mouthed bitch, if my mom says get classy and expensive dresses, then get the damn dresses and shut the fuck up before you lose your stupid job."
Joan immediately blinked in fear and stepped back, completely intimidated by Aya which isn't a surprise.
"I'm... I'm sorry. I apologize." Joan said.
"Keep your apology to yourself, now get away and get to work." Aya said giving her a hateful look as she scurried away.
My mom released a heavy, exasperated sigh and put her hand on her waist, "This is what we have been reduced to, a mere lowlife of a sales woman is questioning me in our own town, despite knowing that I'm Helen Thompson, the Luna of the Alpha of Moonlight Pack. We have lost all the respect and fear this town once had for us and this is because of you." She suddenly turned to me, pointing her fingers at me.
"What??" I exclaimed in surprise.
What did I do now?
"Ever since the town heard that my daughter ran away from home and abandoned all her responsibilities as a member of the Moonlight Pack, we started losing respect, and it only became worse when Camilla was killed. So Tiana, this is all your fault and you owe us one to fix it, which we have given you an opportunity for. That is why you are going to marry Mason Griffin, and a week after, the protection ceremony will be held and then once again, we will have our dignity as a pack back and nobody will be able to mention our pack without trembling first." My mom said in one breath.
More beads of sweat formed on my forehead and dripped down my face, my heart now beating rapidly.
My family already had it all planned out, I would be sacrificed for the protection of the pack.
"And your sister and your father keeps telling me that you plan to run away. This is a motherly advice for you and you better adhere, don't bother trying it, because as much as I'm desperate for you to marry Mason and protect our pack from the ripper, your father is much more determined than I am, he would do anything to protect his pack and if you attempt to ruin his plans, he will hunt you down and make you pay. And I'm sure you know your father as much as I do."
My mom is right. My dad will hunt me down. And I know him too well, I'm aware of how merciless he can be when it comes to his pack.
My chest starts feeling too tight to breath properly as the images of what my father would do to me if I'm caught trying to run away, keeps flashing through my mind. I would be as good as dead.
I start gasping for air, and holding my chest tight.
"What is it??! Oh my god, why do you make it your life goal to embarrass me? Get out of this place now before people see you hyperventilating for no reason." My mom scolded me.
Still gasping for air, I managed to make my way through the boutique and step outside. My chest was still tight and I felt suffocated, both biologically and emotionally.
Now I regret ever returning back home. I shouldn't have. I should have known that even though these people were my biological family, they had no space in their hearts for me, just like it has always been. I should have just mourned Camilla in my own way and never set foot in this town again.
Just as I was feeling my breathing coming back to normal and was about to return inside before my mother or Aya, even worse, comes out fetching for me, I suddenly felt someone grab me by the arm and before I could process a thing or even scream for help, I was tossed into the car.
"What the hell??? Who are you?? Hello?!" I started shouting frantically, struggling with the car handle which the abductor already locked from outside.
The abductor opened the door to the driver's seat, sat down and started driving, it was when my head was no longer in a frenzy and he turned to face me that I recognized those captivating baby blue eyes that I would recognize anywhere.
"Alex?"
"Alex Gray??" I called out with astonishment. "Alex what are you doing here??" I asked rhetorically but I was ignored and Alex continued driving without glancing at me."Alex??" I called out again, and at this point, I already felt my chest beating faster than usual. Alex was not looking at me and was driving with speed with a serious look on his face. I placed my hand on the car handle and tried to open it but it was locked and that was when I realized that I was in trouble."Alex?" My voice was lower and shaky this time, "Stop this car now."He continued ignoring me and I tried again, "Stop this car Alex.""Alex, unlock this car and let me go now." My voice was trembling and I was raising it at the moment. My heart was beating loudly and rapidly against my chest and I was now scared for my life."Alex! Alex stop this car! Alex!!" I was now screaming at the top of my voice and struggling with the car handle as if that would miraculously open the door.It came crashing down on me th
"You want me to spy on my future in-laws for you?" I asked rhetorically, not believing what I just heard from him."Exactly what I said." Alex said and walked to his bar and took out a bottle of vodka.Tiana scoffed in disbelief, "You know that's not possible right? If you heard the correct story about how I'm getting married, then you would also know that it's an arranged marriage. The marriage is not happening out of love or anything, I barely even know the man I'm getting married to, so how do you expect me to know enough to report back to you??" Alex was quiet for a moment and after he poured himself another shot of vodka, he looked at me and replied, "Tiana, I honestly don't see how all of that is my concern. I don't care how you do it, all I care about is that you are going to spy on Mason and his pack members. Or else your father will be disowning you as fast as you can blink. You understand what I mean, right?" My chest started heaving up and down as I glared hard at Alex in
I stood there shocked, my feet fixed to the ground as I watched the horrific sight in front of me, my dad and my sister rushed out of the house to where my mom and my aunt was, pushing me in the process, which jolted me out of my shock."Mom! What happened?!" Aya shouted, and took over from the guard, holding her shoulders. "What the hell happened?!!"My dad just stood there, he looked more raged than shocked, I watched him clench his fists tightly. His eyes were red, the colour of an Alpha's, his claws were out and I could feel the extreme anger seep out of him.I could understand his anger. His thoughts that the ripper already got scared off because of the news of my engagement to the Rover Pack, has just been rubbed in the mud.It took my mom hours to heal despite her status as the Luna of the pack, which means that the wounds were very brutal and she almost died, just like Aunt Erica."Send a message to the rest of the pack members. Tell them my sister is dead, and her funeral wil
I gasped loudly, and quickly adjusted my dress, my heart was beating fast against my ribcage, and it beat even faster when another knock rapped against the door. "Who the hell is that?!" Alex yelled angrily, his voice a bit husky from the emotions of what we just did."Derrick." A masculine voice replied.I threw a worried glance at Alex, still fidgeting with my dress, my cheeks were warm and I felt embarrassed that someone was about to walk in on us having sex.I bet this room still smelled like sex, given that I just climaxed few minutes ago.Alex looked at me softly, his expression silently asking if it was okay for him to let Derrick in, and I nodded slowly."Come in." Alex mumbled after getting my approval. The door opened and a tall man, looking the same age as Alex walked in. He had black hair and I caught a glimpse of his brown eyes. When Derrick walked in, he looked surprised for a second to see me in the room but he quickly masked the surprise with a blank expression. O
The whole room went pin drop silent and we all stared at each other with different facial expressions.Mine being totally and utterly shocked. The room suddenly became too warm for me to stay in."What?" My voice came out squeaky."What? Radiant Bar, few nights ago? Oh come on Tiana, stop playing dumb, the both of us know what I'm talking about." Melanie said, with a sarcastic smile.Oh god. This isn't happening.Everybody in town definitely knows who Radiant Bar belongs to, which means my parents will kill me with their bare hands.Or was this for good?? Maybe Mason would now hate me too much to look at my face, much more marrying him."Tiana, what is going on?? Radiant Bar?? Why are you bent on disgracing this family? What have we ever done to you?! You visited a bar that belongs to an enemy?! Have you finally lost your mind?!" My father was shouting at the top of his voice. Before I could open my mouth to say a word in defense of myself even though I actually had none, my mom added
Meeting Mason was more of a pleasant experience for me, I was pleasantly surprised by who he turned out to be. But that doesn't mean I'm keen on marrying a stranger, regardless of how sweet he was to me, he's still a stranger. Though with the look of things now, it may seem as though, I don't have a say in this matter. My father would rather die than sit down and do nothing while the ripper bastard destroys our pack, and the only solution he had in mind was for us to bond with Rover Pack through marriage.I released a heavy sigh when I realized that shit was getting real, there was no escaping this.My phone suddenly buzzed from the top of the vanity table where I placed it. I got off my bed and went to get it, curiously checking who the caller was.It was an unknown number."Hello, Tiana Thompson speaking." I answered the call hesitantly."Tiana! It's me, Gemma!" A cheery, enthusiastic voice said with excitement from the other side of the phone."Gem, hi!" I smiled, trying to match
I forced my eyes open, but it was proving to be difficult for me. My head was pounding, and I had no idea what was going on. I closed my eyes again when I saw that I was having a hard time keeping it open. I only opened it a few minutes later. This time, I had gotten used to the light coming from the slightly opened window. I looked around me. Besides the light peeping in from the window, the room was dark. Pitch black. Whatever I was lying on was extremely hard. How did I even get here? I tried to remember the events that brought me here. I had been kidnapped as I was on my way back home. The person who kidnapped me...he had said that his name was Tommy, and he had also said that his boyfriend knew who he was. I didn't even have a boyfriend. Who was he referring to? Was it Mason? Everyone knew that I was now about to become his wife, and even though I detested it, everyone else was looking forward to it. So maybe he was talking about Mason? What kind of beef could Mason have
"Touch her if you want to die, Tommy," I would recognize that voice anywhere. It was Alex. He was here. I raised my eyes up to look at him and I was right. He was really here. I had never been happier to see him in my life. Tommy laughed out loud. He looked like he had been expecting Alex. "I knew that you were going to come. What do you think I should do to her, Alex? Should I cut off her head? What would happen if I slash this pretty face of hers?" Tommy taunted Alex. My heart was pounding fast against my chest. I did not want to be caught in their fight. I just wanted to be left alone already. "I.... I really don't have anything to do with this. I think that you should just let me go. Now that he is here, you can talk things out with him right?" I asked in a small void. Both men glared at me at once and I shrunk back on the hard bed I was sleeping on. "Shut up! What do you mean you have nothing to do with this? You are very important to him. So it would hurt him if you're de
