The old pool hall was a dive, full of lowlifes, thieves, and small time gangsters. The one place Remy had tried to escape, but her anger had brought her back, back to a place she didn’t ever want to be.

Marisol, the rich bitch who thought she could walk into Dirty Angels and tell her what to do, take what was hers. She didn’t trust her around Ethan, not one bit, and if she crossed Remy again, Remy would show her who she really was.

Looking around, she spotted some of the homeboys.

Remy pinched herself as she entered Ethans home. It was exactly how she had imagined it to be.“Give me the grand tour,” she demanded. “I wanna see what a bachelor pad looks like up close.”He laughed.“Ok, but I don’t want you to be disappointed if it’s not what you might be expecting.”“How many bedrooms?”“Only five,” he smirked before saying, “ Alexa, play Stand by your man.”The song came on instantly.“Impressive,” said Remy. “All this for just you.”“Yeah, well, I did plan on having a big family at one stage, just never happened for me. Dirty Angels is my child now.”They walked to the living room and there owning most of the space, was a picture of a woman who looked to much like Marisol to ignore.A stab of jealousy pricked Remys chest. She walked to the picture, staring at it.“Was this your wife?” she asked innocently as if she was making polite chit chat.“Yeah,” said Ethan, changing the subject. “What do you want to drink?”“Anything,” said Remy, “What are you having?”“B

Remy had stayed behind the bar, working, but watching that sly cunt Marisol. She wasn’t going to give her the satisfaction of acting like her boss. There was only one man she would take orders from, and he was sitting at the bar, nursing a strong whiskey. She breathed a sigh of relief as she realized that Marisol was leaving for the night. Yeah, be a good bitch and fuck off, she thought to herself. The usual models and cool club guests began filing in. Dirty Angels was one of those places that never lost its vibe.Gangsters mingled with politicians, models, and actors, and influencers came here.Once that bitch moved out, left the club for the night, Remy moved in, circling her prey. She acted aloof, like she didn’t care, was making smalltalk, but every word Ethan spoke was filed away and noted. Remy was studying him.“Where's Victor tonight? I haven’t seen him.”“Working,” said Ethan, sounding bored.Remy nodded.“Need some company then.”Ethan looked up at her then.“I'm surrounded

Remy drove without music.Silence suited her mood.Spotswood Cemetery sat on the edge of town, quiet and wind brushed, the kind of place people only visited when grief outweighed avoidance. She parked near the iron gates and sat in the car for a moment, staring at her reflection in the rear view mirror. Her eyeliner was smudged. She didn’t fix it.The cemetery had become the only place she could find something that resembled comfort. Not answers, she had stopped expecting those, but closeness. The illusion of being near her mother again. It was hard talking to someone who had been dead for four years.Harder still, knowing she’d never heard everything she needed to hear. Her mother had been gone just six weeks after the diagnosis. The bad kind of cancer. The fast kind. The kind that didn’t give you time to process, let alone prepare.Remy had been seventeen.Seventeen and furious at the world.Seventeen and giving her mother hell for breathing too loudly. She stepped out of the car an

Dennis lifted his phone again.“Blaze, get back here, we need your help.”“We?” said Remy, “I thought you’d finished? Little head gone to sleep?”“Yeah, but he might wake up.”“And what if your girl comes raging in? What then?”Dboy smiled, “When have I ever let anyone hurt you, Remy? She’s at least half an hour away. We got time.”You only let yourself hurt me, she thought to herself. The door opened, and Blaze entered. His eyes surveyed the scene, taking in Remys breasts that were still bare and her skirt hitched up.“Oh shit, I hope you need help with what I think you do,” he said, drinking in Remy.“Finish her off, Blaze. She needs help,” said Dennis, his eyes never leaving mine.“Blaze, it's your lucky day, I’m toey as hell, come get some love,” I coaxed him.Blaze was a little over six feet, with a strong jawline, chocolate skin, heavily tattooed, and blue eyes. I had never gone there with him because Dennis was his friend. It didn’t mean we hadn’t thought about it, and this rig

Have you seen Dboy around?”“Hey Remy, he'll be in after a while, heard you all fancy now? Working on the rich side of town. We ain't never see you here anymore.”“Yeah, well, I’m always working, no time to kick it.”“Still slanging that putang? I bet you’re making some good money.”“Not really, I’m trying to be a better person now, Blaze. I did what I had to do to survive, ya know.”“Well, I’m broke, but if you ever give out freebies, let me know.”“I’ll buy you a beer, that’s the o

“What’s your lawyer’s name again?” Marisol asked, leaning against the bar as she watched Ethan scroll through his phone. “I’ll let you call him and tell him about Enzo.”“I’m not your secretary, sweetheart, in case you haven’t noticed,” Ethan replied without looking up. His deliberate use of the endearment was pointed, and they both knew it.“Isn’t he your lawyer too?” she shot back. “Don’t you three have some cosy little arrangement going on? I haven’t forgotten how you tried to edge me out of this place. I’m just lucky Lorenzo warned me.”Ethan finally glanced up, one brow arched.“He’s your boyfriend. You call.”Marisol glared at him.“You are infuriating, you know that?”Ethan only grinned, entirely too pleased with himself. She was about to continue the argument when her phone buzzed again. The name on the screen made her stomach drop.“Marvin, hi.”“I prefer it when you call me Daddy.”Heat rushed to her face instantly, made worse by Ethan standing right there within earshot.“I
