Chapter Six

Karen walked up to Vada with sympathy visible in her face, she was clutching on her handbag with her left shoulder and the other hand held her phone.

"Oh my God! The news brought me back, how is Mrs. Gloria fairing?"

She asked Vada as she tried to settle down.

"She was taken by the PMs. I heard you don't work on Wednesdays, what are you doing here?"

Vada queried.

"Aww poor Gloria."

Karen pitied as she prepared to answer Vada's question.

"I told you about my other little business, I signed off Wednesdays in my work days here and it's deducted from my salary fairly."

Vada only sighed and removed her facecap, she couldn't comprehend what just happened that morning, she brought out her phone to review the news again.

"I know it's going to be too much for you, that's why I came back too, to make sure you are good."

She said coming closer to Vada as she had her hand around her neck to give her a shoulder to rest on.

"How come it was never in the Broad news or anywhere? This is my first time of hearing about this though I know literally everything about Balor down to its considerable flaws."

Karen removed her hand from Vada's neck as she adjusted her dress.

"Well, Balor is a developing city as you know, putting out this outrageous news in the media will chase away potential foreign investors, I am in charge of writing the Balor program and the President through the manager, asked me not to include that in the profile."

"Oh my...this is quite perilous."

Vada muttered.

"Okay, how about we go to the club house tonight? The Booting lounge is having people over for its annual festival, you need to free your mind and live in a good moment while it lasts, two shots of tequila will drain your thoughts, hmm?"

Vada glared at her as she chewed on her lower lip trying to see how she will turn down the invite without being rude.

"C'mon! Don't say no you're being too predictable."

Karen urged her on while shaking her hands for her to concur.

"Okay, I will be there what time?"

"Yayyy!!"

Karen rejoiced as she continued,

"8 pm and please wear a dress, a nice exquisite dress, I don't know why you hide those alluring curves of yours in those saggy pants."

"The last I checked, Booting lounge is a casino, you can wear anything at all to a casino party, no rules on that."

"Ughh! That's you saying no again, why are you like this Vada?"

"I don't own a dress, there's never been a need for me to have one, isn't it enough for you that I wholly agreed to go with you? you can't score two odds with me Karen, understand that."

Karen licked her lips wet as she gave a defeating sigh.

"Okay, yeah it's actually nice to get you to be there and I appreciate that, I need to get going I will see you around then, bye!"

She took her bag and left the company after talking briefly with Ally.

Vada felt relieved and very cool through out the day, she experienced how nice it could be to work in a company devoid of Karen, she wished everyday will be as bug free and silent as that day. When it was time for break, she went to the cafeteria alone, enjoying her solo company with her headset and when it was 4pm, she left the office for her apartment which was a twenty minutes drive.

Getting home, she dropped her backpack on the floor and slumped tiredly on her bed with her face down on the pillow, just then her MacBook red laser light started blinking and she groaned angrily, reaching for it, it was her dad calling her on FaceTime, she picked up.

DAD.

"Dad, are you stalking me?"

"Why will I do that? What are you talking about, Vada?"

She drew the sit from under her table and sat down not looking away from her dad on the screen.

"How did you get to know about the news?"

"Am I not supposed to know?"

"Dad, stop joking, that news was bound to be heard only in Balor, you are apparently in Bridgeton so stop making me look stupid."

"Isn't that strange enough to you? That a news as sensitive as that was limited to only the people around Balor? Come home Vada, I have been worried sick about you."

"Worry about your business, companies and relationship alone Mr. Williams, I am old enough to do the worryings about me myself."

"You are my only business, my only company Vada don't you get it?"

Mr. Williams uttered with his nerves popping out round his neck, trying so hard to convince the hell bent Vada.

"Am I your only relationship still, dad?"

Vada retorted having her dad to look away in defeat and speechlessness.

"Pfft, I guess not, well I have my mind made up. I am sitting through Balor, have a good evening, Mr. Williams."

She slapped shut her MacBook as she swung her self side to side in her chair, worried as hell, she just don't know what to do, just then her MacBook laser light started blinking again, she reluctantly open it up.

Dr. BRAD.

"Hey Vada, how have you been? We have a session now don't we?"

"Nope, we don't!"

She dropped the call by forcefully slapping shut her MacBook again as she stood up and yelled out in frustration, kicking down her chair, she lay down on her bed looking up to the ceiling with her both hands on her stomach, she had so many emotions flooding in her mind, her mind was literally bloated, turning to her side, she stared at the picture of Sarah on the wall, tears traveled freely from her eyes to her cheek then down to the sheets.

She drifted..... Minutes later, her phone buzzed startling her to a sitting position, she checked the time on her nightstand and grunted in frustration, it was 7:34 pm.

She knew the text was definitely from Karen about the party, she was going to text her back that she won't make it again and possibly lie to her that she was having a bad headache, she decided to open it anyway.

KAREN.

*What's the worst you could do? Cancel on me of course, hehe. But I know you wouldn't want to be halsened so get your ass down here already!*

"What the...?"

Was the only thing she could say in her appallment, Karen knows just how to hunt someone down from every angle.

She came down from her bed and went in to the bathroom to freshen up and prepare, Karen wasn't going to win this game.

She wore her well steamed black tuxedo Oxford pant suit, her Rolex ice wristwatch and a customized Williams' ice neck chain that has her name cursively carved on it as a pendant, her inner shirt was also black in colour but of satin material, she adorned her leg with a Nike white ankle kicks and her waist with a black bling belt, she doesn't want to look overly dressed so she packed her hair in a messy bun, she noticed her eyes was looking very dull that evening and decided to conceal it with a pair of shady glasses as she stepped out with her car key, she was looking like a well groomed handsome rich dude and even though she wanted to look blended, her expensive suit and jewelries were saying otherwise and she was getting second glances from people, girls especially.

Getting to Booting lounge, Karen was waiting for her outside and immediately she sighted Vada, she plastered a wild smile on her face as she approached her, Karen looked rather sophisticated, intentional but gorgeous on a navy blue sequin gown with a lowline v-shaped neck that had her cleavage a little bare and a pon black heel straps, her flowing auburn ginger hair matched with her choice of gown and she was looking snatched and strident.

"Oh my world-a! you look like a rich mafia gentleman Vada, I hardly knew it was you until I observed your gait and your cologne, goodness it smells richly enticing, what's the name?"

Karen queried as she sniffed the air with her eyes closed.

"Uhmm, I don't mean to sound vain or..conceited but you probably can't afford it so... yeah, can we just go in already? yes?"

"Okay now that was violating, but I'd take that so far it's coming from a Williams, let's go on then my not so gentle gentleman?"

Karen teased as she had her hand under Vada's arm and they gracefully made for the casino looking like epic couples, straight from a movie.
