I don’t want to be here.

Not in this house.

Not with these people.

Not surrounded by these two-faced beings who are waiting to drain me of everything.

So I get up and change. I pack, just a few simple clothes in a bag. And then I walk out the bedroom door.

I’m pulling my suitcase through the hallway when I run into Lydia. She stops in her tracks, narrowing her eyes at me.

“Monique, where are you going?” Lydia asks, her eyes narrowing, confusion flickering across her face like she’s trying to piece something together. She doesn’t know what’s happening. Not really. She doesn’t understand what really happens in this house anymore.

I stop dragging the suitcase and straighten to my full height, meeting her gaze head-on. “I’m leaving your house,” I say flatly. “Isn’t that what you wanted?”

She crosses her arms, unimpressed.

“You still haven’t answered my question. Where are you going? Because if you’re planning to go back to what used to be your home… I’m sorry to break it to you, but you

I nodded, but the truth was, I wasn’t really thinking about his question. He kissed my forehead, stood up, and walked toward the door. Just before he left, he turned around and gave me a look I couldn’t quite name. And then he was gone, leaving me there… with hope. And fear.As I sat there, time moving slower than it had in days, I kept thinking. What if Ryan wasn’t just out to steal from me? What if he wasn’t satisfied with just taking the company or the money? What if he dragged me into something worse? Into something criminal? Jail? I had no Idea what he’d done, what he’d signed, what deals he’d made under my name.I had been an idiot. For too long. And then, there was Marcus. What do I really know about him? Do I trust him because he’s kind? Because he looked at me like I was worth protecting? Because he says the right things and makes me feel safe? How can I trust him? After all Ryan did to me, am I just going to hand over my faith from one man to another? Is that really who I am

I sat back on the couch, my hand on my forehead“Oh my god,” I breathed. “It’s bad, right?”Marcus sighed.“Monique.”I turned my head to look at him, my voice shaky.“There’s something else I need to tell you,” he said carefully, “and I’m gonna need you to be strong for this, okay?”My eyes narrowed. “Oh my god, what is it now?” I asked, feeling my chest grow heavier.“If you signed documents.... and I don’t know yet, but if you signed things you didn’t read or didn’t fully understand… he might’ve forged more than just shareholder agreements,” Marcus said slowly, like he was choosing every word with caution.“What do you mean?” I asked, my throat going dry.“It means Ryan could’ve used your signature for more than just building that new company with his parents,” he said, locking eyes with me. “If he did anything illegal… if he moved money, opened accounts, signed deals in your name… and you don’t remember doing any of it…”He paused.“The law might come knocking on your door if anyt

  • DIVORCED MORNING AND REMARRIED TO HIS BROTHER BY NIGHT   Spidey Senses

I thought I would get bored watching Marcus work on his screen as he went through his video call, but it turned out to be the exact opposite.I remembered my dad working, and how I was never really interested in what he was doing. I’d always find something else to do. Whether it was chatting on my phone, doodling in my sketchbook, or just zoning out, I rarely paid attention. I mean, he was my father, after all. Ew. Nothing interesting to see there. And then… There was Ryan. Ryan, who never wanted me to take a peek at his work. Never wanted me to know anything about it. Should that have been a red flag? The Bennett Corporation was half mine too....oh so I thought. So if it were our company, why didn’t he ever let me in? Why was it always a closed door, a firm “don’t disturb”?Was it because he didn’t want someone hovering? Didn’t like people in his space? Or… was it because if I had looked closely, I might have seen something that would've woken up my spidey senses?I wonder. As I'm st

He looked down at himself and shook his head with a laugh. “How about we have breakfast first?” he offered, leaning in close, voice low and sinful. “You drained me last night.”I gasped, hitting him with a pillow. He winked, shameless. “Come on, you dirty girl...go take a shower. Or... do you want me to help you with that?”I blushed, blushed like I was sixteen again. I kicked the sheets off, trying to hide my burning face, and darted toward the bathroom.Right before I got there, he smacked my ass. I yelped, laughing, and slammed the door behind me, but I could still hear his rich chuckle through the room. And the whole scene made me feel free. I felt young. And I felt wanted. When I came out of the bathroom, the morning light was streaming through the windows. I got dressed quickly, and Marcus had already laid out something for me. Simple, breezy, perfect for a day on the island. That thoughtful gesture made me smile. We went downstairs and had breakfast together, seated on the open

I lifted my head to breathe more easily. Marcus was gone from behind me but before I could glimpse over my shoulder to see what he was doing, his fingers grasped my hips and pulled me closer. Then Marcus’s hand came down on my butt, keeping it in place. He gripped a pillow and shoved it under my pelvis. Then he was behind me. He gripped my ass cheeks and his tip nudged my opening. “Fuck. You’re so fucking wet, precious.” Without a warning, he slapped all the way into me, filling me completely. I gasped, arching up as pleasure and a trickle of pain shot through me. Marcus stilled for a moment as he rubbed my butt and lower back. He leaned down until his chest was pressed against my back, pinning me beneath his weight. He braced himself on his elbows on either side of me. I could feel every inch of him. I couldn’t have moved even if I wanted to. I tilted my head to the side and found Marcus’s lips for a hard kiss. He slid out of me slowly until only his tip was inside before thrust

Marcus suddenly pulled me up by my hands and before I could even process what was happening, he hoisted me over his shoulder like some kind of determined caveman.“Marcus!” I gasped, breathless, half laughing, half shocked. He didn’t say a word. Just made swift, deliberate strides toward the bed, his hold firm around the back of my thighs. I could feel the rumble of his low chuckle against my stomach as I dangled over him.And then, thud—he tossed me onto the bed, unceremoniously, like I was a reward he’d just claimed. I bounced lightly against the mattress, still catching my breath, wide-eyed and flushed. Before I could recover or say something sarcastic, he climbed over me with a wicked glint in his eye.“Don’t act like you didn’t love every second of that,” he murmured, his voice a growl against my skin. And honestly? He wasn’t wrong. So I pulled him down toward me and kissed him. He didn’t blink twice. The moment our lips touched, he responded instantly, kissing me harder, deeper
