CiaraNo sooner had Jonathan and Alena left the house to their various places had I gotten up from bed to clean to the house. One thing on my list of things to do was to send Brittney an email regarding how things were going on in the company so I did that. After, since I'd asked the girls via our group chat if we could meet up at Roxi's house since it was closer to mine and they'd agreed. "I can't believe you are my next door neighbour!" Roxi gasped, hugging me as I passed through her door. "How come I never noticed you till now?""I just moved in with Joanthan" I clarified. "My place is quite a walk from here"Looking around the Roxi's house, I admired the pictures of her and her kids on every wall. "Your kids are beautiful"She beamed. "Thank you. This here is my first" she introduces, pointing at a girl in tbe picture frame with dark brown hair. "Her name is Carla. She's 19. Alena often comes by to visit her.""And this over here is my boy, Asher" Her smile broadened, pointing
JonathanThe next morning, I got dressed for my interview. Ciara had told me to wake up before I leaveve today so I did. "I'll be leaving now, Ciara" I informed gently. "Goodluck, Jonathan" Ciara somnolently encouraged, yawning as she moves around the bed to hug me. I hugged her firmly before letting go and leaving the house. I'd gotten to the company an hour before the set time for my interview so I branched at company's coffee shop downstairs. "One cup of iced coffee to go, please" I ordered. "Coming right up. Please take a seat. It would be ready in the next 10 minutes""Thank you" I moved aside from the counter to take a seat; admiring how huge the company was. With Ciara's help, I was positive I was going to get this job this time around. Plus, It would be nice if I get a job from a company this grande. Three men entering into the coffee shop chattering side by side catch my attention. They exuded an aura that was quite hard to place. "Two barely tea and one iced coffee.
Ciara I stiffled my laughter watching Jonathan and Alena banter playfully over how her scream had him worried when it was just because of Asher. "Ciara, can you come up to my room please?" Alena Inquires. "Sure" Following Alena up to her room, I plunged down to the bed. "So, what is it?""Dad looks kind of sad, is something wrong?""He told me he went for a his interview today and he didn't get it""Oh" Alena looked away. "I guess I shouldn't have brought up the whole 'Asher thing' then"Patting her head, I encouraged. "Don't feel bad for anything, Alena. We are adults and you're still a kid. Live a little""As for your father" I add. "He's felling better and more confident about the whole thing"Alena hugs me tightly."Thank you for being there for him""Always" Refraining from her, I asked. "Have you thought on what you want to wear for prom?""Not yet but you will help me to decide when it's time, right?""Of course, I will""And you? Have you asked dad out to prom yet?"I blushe
Jonathan I wasn't expecting it to be easy to whip up a desk job without experience but, I wasn't expecting it to be this hard as well. It could be because I was pressuring myself to be a better man for Ciara, somebody that was worth standing by her side with my head held up high.Only then would I be able to propose to her knowing that I could provide a stable life for her. But I couldn't even get a proper job. How then was I supposed to do all that?. I'd intended to hide my disappointment from Ciara as she already had alot to deal with but I couldn't keep my feeling bottled up any longer. If I didn't let it out, I might burst from within. "I'm sorry" I apologized. "I didn't want you to see this side of me"Caressing my face in her hands, she replies. "Well, thank you for sharing" she adds. "Now that I know what you've been trying to do, we can work on your resume and interviews together""Thank you, Ciara. It really means alot"Closing tbe gap between us, she wraps her hands aro
CiaraRoxi chuckled over my nervousness. "You don't need to be nervous around us, Ciara. We won't treat you any differently just because we're of highclass"I just nod my head in agreement. They didn't know I was the owner of a company. That was great then. "May i ask what you do, Roxi?""I own a shopping brand and I'm a mother of three; 2 boys and 1 girl"Oh, so that's what she meant when she said she was jogging because of 'tyrant kids'. "That's enough about us. What about you?" Jen inquired. "What do you do, Ciara?"Shit, the tables have turned. "I'm currently not doing anything" Jen gasped in shock. "You're jobless?""No, I'm n-"Roxi takes my hands in hers. "You must have ot tough, deary. I can't even imagine even my teenage daughter has a job""That's not what I m-""You don't have to explain yourself further, you poor thing" Jen consoles, placing her hands over my second hand. "Let's order up something sweet to cure your pain"They barely gave me the chance to explain myself
CiaraThe following morning I'd woken up, Jonathan was out of bed. He'd left a note that he had somethings to take care of and would be back shortly. "That leaves us with Alena" I muttered, climbing down from my bed as I moved to Alena's room to prepare her for school but she was already up and dressed. "You're up early""Yeah, I've decided today is the day I tell Asher about my feelings for him. Prom is this Friday and I need to know my fate" She spluttered. "How do I look?. How is breathe?. Is something stuck in my teeth?-""Hold on just a minute, young lady" I say, puzzled. "Take in a deep breathe because I can barely make out a word you're saying" She does as I'd advised. "Now, you were saying?""I'm going to tell Asher about my feelings for him today and as you can see.." Alena let out a heavy sigh. "I'm quite nervous""It's normal to be nervous, sweetie" I admit. "But don't let your nervousness ruin the moment. You've got this"She beamed, "Thanks, Ciara. I better start leaving
