ALEXANDER'S POV

“We'll meet again, Mr. Grey.” Marcus said, getting into his car.

I watched his car zoom off into the streets, until his taillights became invisible.

“This proposal had better work,” I murmured. “It's time to take Grey's global up to the next step.”

I turned around, walking back into the building, and then the thought of Elena's action crossed my mind. The way she had frozen when she saw Marcus Sinclair earlier, she looked like she had seen a ghost.

“Why would she do that?”

  • DOUBLE HEIR ; A LOVE IN DISGUISE    ANCHORED

ELENA'S POV “I'll see you at work tomorrow,” he said before driving off. I watched his taillights drift into nothingness. The birds chirped and somehow I felt lighter than I used to be. This was good. I really needed to let that off my chest, and finally did. I walked upstairs…Standing in front of the neighbors door, I knocked. Twice. It was enough to get the attention of my old neighbor. “Come in!” I turned the door knob, pushed the door inside, letting myself in through the small crack that had the lights from the inner room. “Mummy!” My kids yelled, rushing into my arms. “Oh! It felt like forever, didn't it?” I asked them, ruffling their hairs, giving them a sweet peck on both their cheeks. “I'm hungry!” Liam yelled. “He ate a bowl of cereal not long ago,” the old neighbor chirped in before I could even say a word. Typical Liam. He was always hungry. I smiled. “You'll get used to that. Thank you for watching them today.”“It's no problem, I could use some of those comp

  • DOUBLE HEIR ; A LOVE IN DISGUISE    ANGER AND FURY

VICTORIA'S POV I couldn’t breathe. The phone call with Landon had lit a fire inside me that I couldn’t put out. “That bitch!” I exclaimed, knowing she was about to ruin my plans. She was working so close to Alex, now riding in his car. Getting his attention. After everything I had done, after years of being right here before she ever existed to him. “Some random bitch is threatening to ruin it all,” I said, tightening my fist until my palms had turned red.I was so angry I couldn’t hold it in. My hands shook as I threw my phone onto the bed. I paced the room like a caged animal that wanted to be let lose, my gown swirling around my legs. All I could feel was rage.It sat behind my eyes like fire, hot and restless, turning everything I’d built into ash. I looked at the mirror, and the reflection showed a beautiful woman, elegant, powerful, deserving of everything. Her posture was perfect, her jaw set like she’d been carved from something unbreakable. The woman in the mirror didn

  • DOUBLE HEIR ; A LOVE IN DISGUISE    THE THREAT

LANDON'S POVI stood by the window on the upper floor of Grey Global Tower, watching the parking lot below. My hands were both behind my back, and inside me, I was so restless.I had come to drop off some documents for Alex, but then I saw them… together. “Was that really Miss Voss?” I asked myself, still in doubt.I had seen Alex’s car pull out of the lot, and she was sitting in the passenger seat right beside him. I stared at the disappearing car until it turned the corner and vanished from sight. “What the hell is going on?” I asked myself again, “Why was Alex taking her somewhere?”I sensed something was up, but I just didn't know what. Why was he bringing her so close, not just as an assistant, but now personally driving her around? He never even drived me around for once, not even with Victoria.I turned away from the window and paced the empty office. Restlessness clawed at me. I didn’t know exactly what was happening between Alex and Elena, but I was deeply uncomfortable wi

  • DOUBLE HEIR ; A LOVE IN DISGUISE    RESIGNATION LETTER

ALEXANDER'S POV “It’s been a really crazy week,” I said to myself, my voice barely more than a whisper. The silence pressed back harder than it should have. The thought of yesterday filled my mind and wouldn’t let go. I’d tried coffee, tried work, tried walking it off down the office building and back twice. Nothing worked. I couldn’t think of anything else other than her, other than that night when it all happened. She was the mysterious woman all along. The lady I had a piece of. The pieces didn’t fit before, but now they cut.“Why had she been quiet all this while?” I asked myself, pacing the length of the office. My footsteps echoed off walls that suddenly felt too close. I stopped in front of the mirror and stared at myself like I’d find answers there. My jaw was tight and my eyes looked older than they should. “Those kids… the resemblance… this is absolutely crazy.” I sank back into my chair, elbows on the table, head in my hands. Even when I closed my eyes, I could st

ELENA'S POV "Who does he think he is?" I huffed, tucking my hair behind my ear as I walked back home slowly, letting the cool night slap against my face. "He thinks he can just walk back into my life because he is Alexander Grey, so much for a spoilt brat who has always had everything at his disposal. Well, not this time."My legs felt heavy, and every step echoed with the words I had thrown at him, the truth I had finally let out after five long years. Now that those words were out, I felt both relieved and terrified.“It's for the best, Elena,” I said, trying to pull myself together. “We can breathe now.”I slowed down my place only when I realized I was out of his view. But then, I still felt on edge. The streets were quiet, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was watching me. I glanced over my shoulder, not once, not twice. I could sense movement and flashes of shadows at the corners of my eyes. “Is he still following me?” I muttered under my breath. I turned ar

  • DOUBLE HEIR ; A LOVE IN DISGUISE    THE TRUTH I COULDN'T HIDE

ELENA'S POV I walked towards him with legs that felt like they were slightly wobbly. The restaurant was a little quiet at this hour, with soft lighting and gentle music playing in the background. He sat at a secluded booth in the corner, his tall frame unmistakable even from a distance. My heart hammered against my ribs as I approached, and questions kept tumbling over one another in my head. Why had he called me here so late? What did he want?“Good evening, Mr. Grey.” I slid into the seat opposite him. He looked at me for a moment, his expression unreadable. “Nice evening to you too, Elena.” "Elena?" The talk slipped out of my lips before I could hold myself. I had gotten used to being called Miss Voss, hence the surprise when he called me by my first name. "Yes, Elena... something wrong?" "Huh? no... not at all, sir." I said, hastily. Then he raised his hand to call the attention of the waiter.“What would you like?”“A smoothie, please,” I replied softly, not trusting
