My assistant walked out of the room in slow strides, making sure I was okay before she finally left the office.

She patted my shoulders lightly before looking at me one last time and closing the door.

I looked around, even while the blinds covered the windows for privacy, trying to see if someone was watching me.

But there was no one.

It was just an empty threat.

“Take a deep breath and you’ll be okay,” I muttered to myself, even while my heart screamed otherwise.

I went through my emails

I had to get here to get some answers before I left here for good. I stepped into the room where she was. She smiled the moment she looked up from the bed. Her wrinkles stood out even more in the midst of her smile. “How are you doing, Ma?” I asked as I sat close to her and watched her groan a little. She nodded and smiled lightly at me. The same smile that did not fully reach her eyes. “You look really good,” she teased. I shut my lips tightly. “I’m leaving,” I finally broke the silence since we both had nothing to say at that moment. She widened her eyes. “Why?” she asked. I clenched my fist immediately. “I have to go, Mum,” I started, tired of acting like I cared when I had already done the job I wanted to do. “He knew before me that I was the other son,” I continued. “You laughed with me, yet you pretended I was an outsider to you?” “Why, Mum?” I asked. Her lips trembled, but I couldn’t wait anymore. “Because I was a disgrace to you or the family?” “Was that why?”

  • Daddy’s Little Secret    Chapter 99: Forbidden

Nickolai’s POV “What the fuck was that?” I barked at my secretary as we both tried to figure out where we could stay so we could have a proper conversation. She half-shrugged as if this didn’t mean anything to her. “I had waited all this while,” she said, looking at me. “Desperate.” “Hungry.” “Just for you to notice me.” I battled my eyelashes, confused about where all this was coming from. Whatever we had with each other was just a one-time thing. And that was all. I glared at her, but she avoided my gaze. She slowly peeled off her dress as she continued talking. “I have spoken to you.” She smiled sweetly. “You haven’t,” I shut her up with a glare. “I think I did.” She tilted her head to the left and paused for a while before continuing. “With my expressions, with my clothes, even while giving you signals. But guess what you did?” “You ignored me.” She paused. “For... for a small boy?” She arched an eyebrow. I couldn’t answer. All I wanted to do was delete the eviden

  • Daddy’s Little Secret    Chapter 98: A shocking secret

Damian’s POV Something wasn’t right. Maybe it was the way Nikolai’s dimples didn’t deepen the moment he smiled or the way his nose did not scrunch up the moment he felt the movie was hilarious. I noticed little things about Nickolai and I knew he couldn’t hide it as well. We were on the fifth movie and I needed this as bad as anyone right now. And this healed a part of me I never knew existed. Up until Nickolai’s phone dinged and I noticed the subtle change in his mood. Even as I touched him softly, he reacted but not in his usual way. I turned to look at me, but here he was pretending like he knew what was happening in the movie. “What was the last thing that was said?” I whispered, my hot breath fanning against his ear. He half shrugged like he had just forgotten but I knew he wasn’t paying any attention to the movie. I stared at him, sternly. Even under the lights that were reflected from the movie I could still his face. “What’s wrong?” I asked him, this tim

  • Daddy’s Little Secret    Chapter 97: Blackmail

I woke up draped between Damian’s legs and held securely in his arms. As he stirred in his sleep, I wanted to leave the bed, but I just loved the sight of him sleeping. It felt a little too good to be here. I looked at the small tattoo behind his ear. He stirred in his sleep and held me tighter. I smiled at him as he struggled to open his eyes. I chuckled, waiting for him to fully wake up. I kissed his forehead. His reaction was more passionate than I expected. A small smile tugged at his lips as I looked deep into his eyes. “Where are you going?” he asked as his eyes finally adjusted to the light in the room. I smiled at him and kissed him. “I have a Zoom call with some of my associates.” I told him, even though I wasn’t sure he would want to know. He pouted his lips and nodded. I scooted closer and kissed him on the lips. “I met my twin brother,” Damian casually said. I turned back to him and watched, waiting for him to say more. He lifted the corner of his lips. “He l

  • Daddy’s Little Secret    Chapter 96: Twin telepathy

Damian’s POV We both stared at each other, waiting for the other person to speak. We looked at each other and he was the same person. We both had the same shape of eyes. The same colour of the iris. I never lived with a twin while growing up, so where had he come from? We both opened our mouths to say something at the same time. We both stayed quiet together. Twin telepathy?? I thought. “You can speak,” his thick voice filled the room. He had a thicker voice than me. I looked in between my mum and him. She gave me a small nod to continue, I ignored her and finally said something. I stuttered. “Who are you?” He smiled and rolled off his invisible sleeves. “I’m Dariel, your twin brother,” he smiled wryly. I was too stunned to speak. “And you are Damian,” he stretched out his hands. He knew who I was, but I wasn’t even aware of him. I scoffed and walked out of the room shutting the door loudly. If blood could boil, mine would be over the t

  • Daddy’s Little Secret    Chapter 95: You are??

Damian’s POV Nickolai approached me with his bag hanging from his shoulder. Seeing him brought me comfort, knowing fully well that I wasn’t going to fight this alone. He rushed towards me and engulfed me in a tight hug that felt suffocating after a while. He pulled back and searched my tear-streaked face. “Are you good?” I nodded, even as the tears pooled around my eyes. “It’s okay. I’m here,” he said, rubbing my shoulders. And, in a strange way, that did a lot of things to me. I grabbed his bag and walked towards the car. “I had booked a place for us.” I smiled at him as I threw the bag into the back seat of the car. As we entered the car, he looked completely different. The CEO was dressed in casual clothes, and that looked hot. Before I turned on the engine, I grabbed his clothes and kissed him deeply. He looked at me with widened eyes before licking his lips. “You are incredible,” he whispered as I drove through the roads of Norway. As we both fell silent, listening

Damian’s POVSilence stretched taut across the room, a moth could be heard once it flapped its wings across the room. The food that was prepared by my mother tasted bitter in my mouth.
