My mood stayed sour for the rest of the day. I moved from room to room doing small tasks to keep busy. I arranged the black dress I would wear tomorrow, checked the list of people to call for the funeral service, and packed a small bag with things I might need at the cemetery.

Tomorrow was Mom’s funeral. I had to stay strong for her last day on earth. No matter what.

The wedding picture kept trying to push into my head but I pushed it back. I had work to do. I couldn’t fall apart now.

  • Daddy's Secret Touch    The Birth Of Victoria Grace Keal

The sharp pain hit me in the middle of the night like a sudden wave. I gasped and sat up in bed, clutching my side. It started low in my back and spread around to my belly, tightening hard. I breathed through it, counting the seconds. Then another one came five minutes later but stronger.“Marcus…” I shook his shoulder. “It’s time. The baby is coming.”He woke up instantly, eyes wide. “Okay, okay, breathe. I’ve got the bag ready.” He jumped out of bed and helped me stand. My legs shook as another contraction hit. I leaned on him heavily while he grabbed the hospital bag and my phone. The drive to the hospital felt longer than usual. Every bump in the road made me wince, it felt like I had to scream. Marcus drove fast but carefully, one hand on the wheel and the other holding mine. “You’re doing great, princess. We’re almost there. Just keep breathing like they taught us.”At the hospital the nurses rushed to me and took me straight to the labor room. They checked me and said I was a

  • Daddy's Secret Touch    What If I Don't Make It After Giving Birth

It had been four months since Marcus came back into my life. True to his word, he hadn’t left my side. He worked from home now so he could stay close. Still, every morning when I woke up, a small fear lingered in my chest — that today might be the day he disappears again. But he was always there. My bump was big now. Very visible. We were expecting our little bean any time soon. Marcus barely let me do anything around the house. He handled the cooking, cleaning, and even made sure I rested most of the day.Two weeks ago, David got married to his girlfriend. They left for their honeymoon right after. Before he went, he promised to visit once the baby arrived. He said he would be the godfather. I smiled when he said that. He had earned it.Two months ago, when Marcus went back to finalize the divorce with Esther, I was sure he wouldn’t return. But he kept checking on me through video calls every single day. Esther sent me some threatening messages during that time, but I ignored them al

  • Daddy's Secret Touch    Heart Attack

The next day dragged on slowly. I went through my morning like a robot — shower, dress, eat a little, then head to the cafe for another shift. My body felt heavy but I pushed through the orders and cleaning. David texted me once to check in, but I kept my replies short. I didn’t mention Marcus. Not yet.By evening I was back home, exhausted. I changed into comfortable clothes and sat on the couch trying to rest. My chest started feeling tight. At first I thought it was just stress from the past few days. I stood up to get water but the tightness got worse. Sharp pain spread across my chest. I tried to breathe deeply but it felt like something was squeezing my lungs.I grabbed the table for support. My vision blurred at the edges. “Not now,” I muttered. The room started spinning. I took two shaky steps toward the door before my legs gave out. I fell to my knees, gasping for air. My heart pounded too fast, like it was trying to break out. I couldn’t get enough oxygen. Panic hit me hard.

  • Daddy's Secret Touch    I Promise

“Princess, please open the door.”I woke up to Marcus’s voice. My neck hurt from sleeping against the wall all night. I thought he would have left by now, but he was still out there. I checked my phone. It was past 3 AM. I sat there rubbing my eyes and stretching my stiff back. My bump felt heavy after the long day at the funeral. I stood up slowly and walked to the door.I went ahead and opened itMarcus was leaning against the wall opposite. He looked worn out, with tired eyes and messy hair. He straightened up fast when he saw me. We just stared at each other for a few seconds without saying anything.“You’re still here,” I said.“I told you I wasn’t leaving.” He took one step closer. “Can I come in?”I moved aside and let him enter. Then I closed the door and locked it. The apartment felt too small with him standing there. I crossed my arms over my chest and stayed near the door.Marcus looked straight at my bump. It was showing clearly now under my loose t-shirt. “You’re really

  • Daddy's Secret Touch    Marcus Is Back

Marcus stood at the door staring at me but I closed the door back and locked it. I didn’t want to say anything. I had too many questions in my head but I couldn’t stand looking at his face right now.“Go away! I don’t want to see you!” I shouted from inside. My heart was beating so fast it felt like it might jump out of my chest. So after everything, after months of silence, he decided to show up here. On what ground? Today of all days — the day I buried my mother. The nerve.“Lila please open the door,” he called, knocking again. The sound echoed through the apartment.“Go back! I don’t want to see your stupid face!” I screamed, pacing from the door to the couch and back, my hands shaking. Part of me wanted to call David and tell him to come back. He would handle this. But what would I even say? That Marcus is back and I don’t want him? Or that deep down I still wanted to open the door and run into his arms like nothing happened?I stopped in the middle of the room and pressed my b

  • Daddy's Secret Touch    Main Funeral Day

Before we got to the venue, the sun had already set, leaving the sky a dark shade of grey that matched the heaviness in my chest. What surprised me was the number of people gathered there.I didn’t recognize most of them.Men in black suits. Women holding tissues. Some standing in small groups, whispering quietly, while others simply stared ahead in silence. For a moment, I just stood there, gripping the edge of David’s sleeve.I had never met my mom's coworkers before.I never really asked about her life outside our home. And now I was realizing just how much of her world I had never been part of.The thought made my chest tighten painfully.David stayed close beside me, not saying much, just silently supporting me as we walked inside. The hall was dimly lit. White flowers lined the entrance, their scent soft but suffocating. At the center of the room stood the coffin.I stopped breathing for a second. My legs almost gave out.David gently steadied me, but I couldn’t take my eyes off
