The water welcomes me like a long lost lover. Everything slowed and dimmed as I plunged into the dark, and cold water. I surface quickly, only after I hear a large splash, telling me that he had also jumped in.

His chuckle is carefree, the sound of it loosened something in my chest, and I search around for him. under a sliver of moonlight, he bobbed up. His shirt clung to his muscles, leaving nothing to the imagination.

Forcing my eyes to his face, I am taken aback by what I see. The man in front of me looked exactly like the man I met. He had a carefree laugh on his face that swallows that his eyes. It wasn’t obvious how small his eyes were until he actually laughed. His chest puffing in and out from his laugh.

“It’s not the right context for that word, unless you were trying to never see me ever again.” I say, wanting the conversation to stay this way, nonsense and weightless, like back at the resort.

“Really? I thought I nailed it.” He guffawed at his mistake. Now I was the one

We had walked the entire way back to my apartment in silence. Not the awkward type, considering what he said to me earlier. But the kind that spoke volumes. Both of us in our own heads. Inside of my head was the memory of his hands on my shoulders playing in an endless loop. He immediately draped a towel over my head once we entered the apartment, he even ruffled through my closet for a change of clothes, stopping when he found a T shirt I have owned for at least four years, and a short. “Change into these and fast. I don’t want you catching a cold.”Like always, my body obeyed his instructions, I walked into the bathroom, my body flaming hot just thinking about the fact that he was on the other side of the door. I prayed for the door to open-- I left it unlocked, and he would walk in, but he didn’t. The door stayed shut the entire time. Dumping my wet clothes in the laundry basket, I emerged from the bathroom, to find that he too had changed into one of my old T shirts, it was obv

He had never touched me down there. I was certain I would explode the day he tried. The message he sent had me reacting like did touch me. I jumped to my feet, blinking over and over again to make sure I wasn’t dreaming, my over active mind didn’t conjure up a text like this. I read it out loud to myself, and immediately goosebumps covered my skin. “Holy shit. He does want to make us dinner… make dinner for me..” I almost squeal.I jump into action, the kitchen wasn’t dirty, however, Christopher was going to use it, so of course I double clean. Scrubbing every surface till it winked at me like they did in cartoons. By the time I was done, it was almost time. “Shit. shit.” I cuss silently. I still hadn’t put the drinks in ice. I hurriedly do that, and dash into the bathroom. We didn’t use the living room last night, I assume the same would happen tonight. I really should stop assuming. He was in the living room by the time I was out. Dressed in all black this time. My jaw drops an

Nobody could tell you how awkward it gets when you are asked to moan on the spot, because nobody ever does it.I was so self conscious the entire time, the sounds I made did not sound anything pleasant at all. The tips of my ears turned red, and it spread to rest of my body. Maybe that was why he disappeared in the middle of the night without a word. Again.I sigh as my truck rolls to a stop in the parking lot of our team building. I am hesitant to step out of the car this morning. It took everything in me not to stay back home today and feign the flu or something. He had chuckled after I made the first few awkward sounds last night.“Relax yourself, little Alec.”I swallowed a piece of chicken, desperate to do well for him, I ended up sounding like a dying animal. Then he laughed, I made a sound of desperation at the back of my throat. He waved me away. “Did you think about me a lot today?” He asked out of nowhere.“Every second.” I answered without thinking. He held my gaze for s

“What if I get caught?” I bit my lip in worry, eyes on the entrance, watching for the manager, we rarely ever crossed paths personally since there was no reason for that.“But what if you don’t?” He gave me the confident, lazy smirk that, without fail, made my knees weak.Grabbing me by my shoulders, he leaned in to whisper in my ear, “You can do anything little Alec, I believe in you.” Without waiting for my response, he thrusts me into the room they kept the keys to the golf carts. I worked on auto pilot after that, adrenaline fueling me, my movements which would have been stiff moved fluidly. My fingers swiping the keys, and when we rode around in it, cackling and laughing, my heart kept beating crazily inside of my chest. Later, we laid awake in bed, chuckling to ourselves, still high on adrenaline, I asked him,“Why did we have to do that? We could have used your pass.”His big shoulders shrugged, bumping into mine.“Corrupting you is fun.”Then he pulled me to himself, where o

Christopher was right, his brother was willing to do anything and everything. If he knew about my parents, he must have done his research, I wonder what else he found out. I tuck my knees together, I had to be really careful from here out. “Why do you have to cut my team if I don’t do it, you can simply just remove me from the job.” They told me it was all a ploy, and that he wanted to remove Christopher from the company, I had to hear it from him, I needed him to admit it was only because he hated his brother.“Your team barely makes any profit with the rubbish redesigning they do now, the only reason your team is still here is because mine makes enough to cover your losses, and I am done with that. Pull your weight or get cut.” He says this in a razor sharp way that makes me realize this is real life, I was no longer in the cocoon of the resort, real things like this happened every day. His words swim around my head. It would be up to me to save the team from Gunther’s misplaced w

“I would very much recommend you leave this to your boss, he has been here longer, and he can deal with his brother better than you can.” Ash advises, her eyes peering out of the car towards the building that should be the office of Lady Rockbell. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting, but it wasn’t this. The building was just after the road, with enough foot and car traffic, large, but welcoming, my mind for some reason plays a different, alternate way I would have designed the building. I shake the thoughts quickly as they come. “It looks like she could be selling cup cakes.”“Or drugs.” Ash deadpans, finally dragging her eyes away from the building to me.I continue to peer at the building, hoping to find a glimpse of her car, or her cut throat gray jacket. “My job hangs on this.”“Your team leader could talk to your brother, that is very lucky actually. Seriously, Lady Rockbell is bad news, if Gunther couldn’t talk her into staying, what do you think you could do?” I shrug, “I wo

“You convinced her?” Gunther says with pure disbelief coming through the speakers of my phone. She borrowed a leaf from you, threatening me, only she took it a step further, threatening my life. I say in my head. “I expect Alec to handle every single detail, I know your finger prints Shepherd, the second I see them on my project, I will be calling it off.” Lady Rockbell says to Gunther, she had asked me to put the call on speaker phone, I was hesitant, she left me no choice. Gunther stays silent, debating the entire thing in his head, if it were up to him, this would be all the work I would do.“I would oversee it.”“The second I see your handwork, I will be pulling the plug, don’t make me repeat myself, Shepherd.” The call disconnects after that, I assume Gunther must be feeling worse than frustrated with the situation. “My assistant will contact you with the details of my schedule, you can see yourself out.” She announces, her eyes returning to the pile on her table.I feel

He never showed up that night. The coffee I was loading into my system wasn’t half as bitter as I am feeling, yet I needed the coffee to stay awake. I didn’t have to rush to work today, and all I did as I wait for Lady Rockbell’s driver, is to almost drown myself in coffee and stare at my phone. Not a single text or call.I lift my eyes out the cafe window, hoping to enjoy the scenery, it was still summer, the skies were blue above us, and tourists littered the place, for the first time I was envious of them, I was as care free as they are few hours ago. Flashing headlights snatch my attention, a Mercedes with tinted windows, an obvious tell, Lady Rockbell’s driver was here for me. She had also given me instructions to come to this cafe and wait, she didn’t even listen to me when I asked if I could drive myself there. I finish the last dregs of my lukewarm coffee, pick up the to go order and head out the door and into the sunlight. The drive is short and terse, the driver sa

Our kisses are hurried. Breaths mixed, we cannot get enough of each other. His hands slip under my shirt, roaming until they get frustrated enough to peel off the entire thing with a groan. I throw my head back in pleasure when his eyes roam my exposed skin, I expect to feel some sort of way about being seen almost naked, but there’s nothing but the intense need for him. “You are so fucking hot, little Alec.” he groans, his hands returning to my chest. The muscles underneath his fingers tense, I shiver against him.He pulls me into my bedroom, and for a second I think the bed is too small, but my thoughts are thrown out of the window when he takes his own shirt off. I take him in, in all his wide chest, toned glory. “I would say you need to be a model, but I am not sure I want anybody else to see you like this.” I tell him, unable to take my eyes off his waistline, his pants hung low and I could see an outline of his cock, I imagine how it looks underneath, the length, thickness,

“Thank you for helping with Ash, you didn’t have to.” I say when the silence gets too loud and thick. Both of our nervousness, or maybe just mine was enough to make it awkward. I rub both hands together after gesturing to Ash’s locked door, she was safely tucked in bed and hopefully snoring away. He had walked up to both of us soon after Ash pointed him out. She passed out mid giggling as he came. My heart had been in my throat the entire time, I watched him nervously as he walked up to us-- well me, since Ash was snoring softly by then. He wordlessly got in, and drove me to Ash’s house, the only thing he asked of was her address, which was already in the navigation system, he drove in silence, and when i tried to bring her inside by myself, he gently swooped her off her feet and carried her instead. I swallowed, even mad at him, I couldn’t think pry my eyes off his muscles. Together, we put her to bed gently, she only stirred in her sleep, but her eyes remained shut. I knew she w

I may have broken every traffic law in a bid to get to Ash on time, she had already started to drink when I met her, still in her work clothes, except, one of her stilettos are off her feet and laid on it’s side under her stool. “Look who it is, the sugar baby of Shepherd Construction!” she giggles as I slide next to her, my eyes widen and I look around us, hoping that nobody heard, and if they did, I would hope they would think it was the alcohol talking. Thankfully, no one cared enough to listen, maybe except the bartender that looked like she wasn’t interested but may be listening. “Ash, mind if you keep your voice down?” I whisper, in hopes that she would copy, like a child would. She pressed her forefinger against her lips, a droopy smile on her flushed face.“I forgot, it is a secret and I am not supposed to know.” she whispered back with a giggle.I am still uneasy, so when the bartender looks at me, I shake my head, she scowls at me, and it makes me feel bad, however, if

“What was that for?” I hiss once we are outside, I stumble a few steps from how roughly I separated myself from him.“That is exactly what I would like to ask you. I heard from Lady Rockbell that you had gone to see Gunther, when you had work to do.” I stare at him open mouthed, he heard from lady Rockbell? Was he keeping tabs on me? And he came all the way out here to do what?“I was going to come when we were done, what I was doing with Mr. Shepherd was briefing. I can’t believe you drove all this way for this.” To say I was seething was a grave understatement. He was treating me like a child incapable of making their own decisions. “I specifically told you to stay away from him, didn’t I tell you!” His voice raises at the end of the sentence.I could hardly believe my own ears, was he angry at me for hanging out with his brother? “He is made from the same cloth as my father, they are both homophobic, and the touching thing you did, what do you think he thinks about it?” I

Lady Rockbell’s driver had offered to take me directly to the high end restaurant Gunther asked me to meet him at, but I declined, I want to leave there by myself if I had to, and going without my car would defeat that. The restaurant screamed luxury and high end, I suspect Gunther invited me here on purpose, to intimidate me or something, however, I used to work at a place as high end as this, I only had to pretend. “You certainly took your time.” he says when I spot his table, there is an irritated look on his face. He is dressed like a businessman in every sense of the word. He looked like Christopher, and looked nothing like him at the same time. They sounded so different too, where Christopher had a smooth, deep voice that felt like it washed over you, Gunther’s rough voice demanded you stood still and listened to him. “I had to finish with Lady Rockbell.” I take a seat opposite him.His brows straightened at the mention of our client, he regained his composure, I could almos

The taste is still at the back of my throat as I walked, or danced, I have no idea, but I know I am humming, into Lady Rockbell’s garden. I do a small spin before I sit, it is all I can do to stop myself from giggling and sighing wistfully. “No extra large coffee, sullen expression or a sigh in sight today.” Lady Rockbell says making me jump, she had been in her corner working on the fruits she only saw an hour a day. I would have seen her if my head was on my neck instead of in the clouds. “I would like to think that’s a good thing.” I say as I settle myself, she startled me real good.“Your work would tell me if it is.” she murmurs.I shake my head with a chuckle, I don’t care what image she had outside, Lady Rockbell was like any other old woman, with the snark and attitude, the only thing she has that they are missing would be the Botox. I work fast today, maybe because every time I swallowed there was a reminder in my throat that he was just there this morning. Maybe becaus

My grandma absolved my mother of all her crimes against me, for one simple reason, she hadn’t committed mother, that’s why you’re here, she would tell me, she wanted me to be grateful to her daughter. It made her the best mother in the world, even a better mother than grandma herself. “Lately, I find myself wanting good things, craving the best, and that’s all you, Alec.” His voice is small when he says this, almost defeated.“You can have it.”“I can’t, not when I don’t deserve it. People’s lives were snatched because of me.” he says quickly stopping my words on my tongue.Grandma would have ran away from him, she would have thought him even more vile than my mother who dumped me in grandma’s arms a few days after I was born, with the words, ‘Sell it or whatever.’ I know these from one of their rare calls, I had been severely ill, and grandma with no health insurance called her daughter for some money, and she reaffirmed her statement from when I was dumped. ‘I told you to sell it

Everything is going so fast and so slow at the same time, my breath hitched in impatience, skin burning with longing, I bite into my lips as his hands shook, needing to touch me the way I needed to be touched. All of a sudden his movement seizes. He stills as if in shock, his brows furrow, I watch him closely, my own confusion apparent. What was going on? He pushed himself of me, and turns around, I have a view of his wide, muscled back, I am slightly distracted by it. “I’m sorry.” he mumbles before walking away, speed walking as if I were some sort of disease he was terrified of.I jump down from where he had placed me on top of the table, I stare at his back wondering what the hell that was, and how I was supposed to react. He doesn’t turn back once and as usual, I follow him, he doesn’t acknowledge that I am following behind him. Just as I reach a huge oak door, it slams in my face, I hear the turn of his lock from the other side. I know he has always shut me out, but doing i

Turns out the movies were right, dashing brooding men in suits always had baggage holding them back, with walls as high as Everest. It would take a patient person to pull these walls down. Luckily for me, I am poster person for patient, I did search for him with only his fake name, and traced him all the way down here. “What was the name of your firm?”He stills from confusion, we were laid side by side, almost naked, he dropped a bombshell on me, he might have been thinking I would take it hard. But I was taking it hard but I couldn’t back down. “The Nest.” He answers quietly,“Nest?” I snicker at his choice of name.I don’t see him but I could tell he was rolling his eyes, he had said before that he was terrible with names. “What name would you rather it had?”I hum, adjusting myself in his arms and the small space, his hold around me squeezes, I fight the smile on my face and it wins anyway, he can’t see me in the dark anyway. “What were the core values?”He takes a deep brea
