Chapter 1

My expression went cold, and I typed out a reply on purpose.

"I swear, someone is hiding by the window in that photo."

It took a long time for my husband Gavin Prescott's response to come through.

"You're seeing things. That's just a potted plant."

He was lying to me. My chest tightened, and I called him, but he didn't pick up. My mind started racing on its own, turning the whole thing over and over. Something about this was deeply wrong.

When he came home from his business trip, he was the same as always, wrapping his arms around me, all playful and affectionate. It was like the photo wasn't even on his radar.

I brought it up myself. "Honey, you've been sneaky. Just look at this photo."

He cut me off before I could finish my thought. "What about the photo?"

He didn't even glance at it. Anger flared across his face. "I check in with you every single time I travel. Why are you still so paranoid? What could possibly be in that photo? Can you just stop overthinking for once?"

Then he completely ignored me and stormed into the bathroom.

The suspicion in my gut only deepened. That forum thread I'd found had commenters coaching men on this exact strategy. If a wife latched onto something, the advice was to flip the script, turning it around on her and making her feel like she was the one with the problem.

But was I really the one with the problem?

That night, he tucked his phone under his pillow before falling asleep. I lay there with my eyes open, staring out the window, listening to his breathing settle into a slow, steady rhythm beside me. After a while, I turned my head and carefully slid the phone out from under his pillow.

The passcode was still our anniversary. I went through his call log and messages and found nothing. I let out a breath, and guilt crept in around the edges. Maybe I really had been overthinking everything.

But then I remembered what people online had said about cheating husbands hiding apps and using duplicate messaging accounts. My heart climbed into my throat, and I followed the steps exactly as they'd described, one by one.

That was when I found it.

The hidden account was full of cluttered messages. I tapped through a few conversations without seeing anything alarming at first, but then I thought to check the cached images buried in the app's file folder.

That was where I found the hotel check-in photo he'd sent me, and by tracing the image, I tracked down which conversation it had been shared in.

It belonged to a woman nicknamed Lise.

I opened the message thread between Gavin and this woman.

"Honey, routine check-in for you. Your man's been very well-behaved."

"You're being so good!"

"Obviously. I'm loyal to a fault. I'd never do anything to hurt you, honey."

The pain hit so hard that it felt like a fist closing around my heart. Gavin was really cheating on me. I forced myself past the ache and opened Lise's profile page.

Then I froze.

I was staring at wedding photos of the two of them. Underneath, there were comments from his parents, the same people who had never once warmed up to me.

"Our daughter-in-law is just gorgeous. A perfect match for our son!"

The color drained from my face. A perfect match? Then what was I? Which one of us was actually the other woman?

I didn't sleep that night. I lay there watching Gavin's face as he slept, saying nothing, swallowing every question back down.

  • Daily Check‑in From My Cheating Husband   Chapter 10

Gavin owed money to the bank and to me, Elise hounded him daily for child support, and on top of it all, he was facing criminal charges. He was cornered with nowhere to turn and tried desperately to reach me, only to find that I'd made myself impossible to find.Brooke informed him that if he didn't repay what he owed, she'd escalate the lawsuit and make sure he lost everything he had left. There was nothing he could do about it, and eventually she filed on my behalf. The evidence was airtight, and the court ruled against him on all counts. Elise didn't escape it either, since she'd knowingly participated in a fraudulent marriage. From what I heard, the two of them nearly tore each other apart during the proceedings. If the bailiffs hadn't stepped in, Gavin might have beaten Elise to death. The judge issued a restraining order on top of everything else.He despised Elise now. In his mind, if she hadn't come to provoke me that day, I never would have gone after him, and neither of t

Gavin had slapped Elise during one of their fights, and she'd stormed out in a rage, only to accidentally fall into a river. A passerby pulled her out in time, but she lost the baby.It was a boy, the one Gavin's parents had been hoping for.Gavin's company declared bankruptcy, and he still owed the bank a fortune. He had zero sympathy left for Elise, only resentment. From what I heard, she'd been erratic and unstable in the hospital, like she was losing her grip on reality.Their ending was miserable, but I couldn't bring myself to feel happy about it. It was what they deserved. The apartment sold quickly. I took the money and decided to travel. I'd spent years buried in work, and it was long past time for a real break. What I didn't expect was Gavin ambushing me at the airport. He looked like a wreck, with dark circles under his eyes, clothes rumpled, like a man who'd been sleeping on the streets. The second he saw me, he fell to the ground and started hitting himself in the fac

Elise wasn't quiet either. She bombarded me with voice messages, one after another. I listened to exactly one.She called me a shameless husband-stealer and swore she'd never step aside and give me what I wanted. I didn't need to listen to the other dozens of messages to know they were more of the same.I turned off my phone, blocked them both without a second thought, and sat there with a perfectly calm expression on my face. Those two really did deserve each other. With the noise finally gone, I sank into the couch and let my eyes drift around the apartment. I'd moved in here after the wedding and spent what I thought were the happiest years of my life within these walls. Now all of that had been ripped to shreds, and there was no reason to stay.I called Dad, and my voice came out raw and cracked. Before I could even get a single word out, I broke down crying. My parents had always adored me, and because of me, they'd put their full faith in Gavin. None of us had seen the con

Gavin pleaded, "Sienna, we can talk about this. Please don't call the police."Elise panicked too, scooping up her daughter and trying to bolt. But a sharp-eyed bystander stepped into her path before she could get far."You two were awfully self-righteous a minute ago. Where do you think you're going now?"We all ended up at the police station together. Bigamy was hard to prove in most cases, but these two hadn't exactly been discreet, and gathering evidence would be easy. If I pushed forward, they'd be facing serious legal consequences.Gavin went pale and grabbed my arm. "Sienna, I was wrong. I know I was wrong. Please don't press charges. I can't end up in court."Desperation was written all over his face, but I just laughed. He wasn't sorry for what he'd done. He was sorry that he was about to face consequences."I'm hiring the best lawyer I can find to take you to court. And this is only the beginning."I shoved him out of my way, walked out of the station without looking b

Gavin firmly said, "We have nothing to hide."He looked smug, staring at me with open contempt. He thought he knew me. He was convinced I'd never blow things up and risk dragging my family's company into the mess. But my reputation was already in ruins. If clearing my name meant burning everything down, I'd do it without hesitation.I let out a cold laugh, pulled out my phone, and started tapping. I'd been burned enough times in business to learn that keeping receipts was never optional."The evidence is right here."My expression was blank as I scanned the crowd and played the first video."This is a video from six years ago, when Gavin confessed his feelings to me in college."We'd both been so young. He was holding a bouquet of roses, too shy to even look me in the eye, and he almost tripped as he walked over to me."This one is from five years ago, the day we graduated, when he came to bring me flowers. And this is from four years ago, when he got down on one knee, proposed

  • Daily Check‑in From My Cheating Husband   Chapter 5

Since my marriage to Gavin was fake, there was no need for us to file for a divorce. A clean break would do.I packed up everything Gavin owned and threw it all out, then sent him a breakup message and blocked his number. He never came back, and I thought it was over.I didn't expect Elise to show up instead. She arrived with a camera crew trailing behind her, her belly swollen and her daughter in tow. Her face was deathly pale with dark circles carved deep under her eyes. The moment she saw me, she pulled her daughter forward, and the two of them dropped to their knees right in front of me. She braced one hand against her stomach and started wailing."Sienna, you're the Sanches heiress. You could have any man you want. Why do you have to take mine?"I'm pregnant. My husband is trying to support all three of us, and it's already so hard."You're using your family's company to pressure him into being with you. Are you trying to kill us?"She stayed on her knees, rocking and sobb
