Chapter 42: Password - Spin

I felt cold, as I opened my eyes to find myself lying on the chaise of the lake house living room alone. I hear movement and chatter coming from the kitchen and climb off the couch. When I get into the kitchen, Courtney is talking quietly about a smell with Liam and Max. Amory is a neat freak, so whatever smell Courtney is referring to, it’s obviously not something that stinks.

“Where’s Loyalty?” I asked, startling them all as I entered the room with them.

“She’s out back with Gabby and Jonny”, says Courtney as she rolls her eyes at me.

I looked around the room and noticed that there were fresh bagels and bread, and a variety of spreads that littered the countertop. “Where’d all this come from?” I asked no one in particular.

“Amory and Jonny left earlier and came back with it”, says Liam.

I’m momentarily confused until I remember that, like Loyalty’s staff, Jonny’s family also calls her Amory. I nod and say, “how long has she been up then”?
