Chapter 5 : Night Breeze

Im wearing a long black cotton dress just above my ankle and black flat sandals to free my feet from the pointe shoes I'm wearing during the performance.

I'm now sitting comfortably  on the back seat of the car eating an ice cream to calm myself.

I will deal the calories later.

"I almost got hit by a truck"I said talking to Gordon who's driving the car. He's looking straight to the road not giving me a single glance.

I can't imagine what will happen to me if I was really hit by that ten wheeler truck. Probably I would die. Well, I would rather choose to die than to live without my feet and legs. I will keep on dancing until my last breath. The only thing that could stop me from dancing is death.

"I saw what happen Young Lady, I'm sorry I wasn't there with you" he apologetically replied. He should be.

I nod my head and let the ice cream melt inside my mouth savoring it's flavor. The celebration is still ongoing but I don't want to stay to celebrate. I wanted to go home and talk to my father.

"Someone save me though, so it's okay. I am thankfully not hurt because of him" I stated while looking outside the car window

We really talk like this. We don't usually talk while facing each other. I notice that Gordon is kinda strict with his rules and he really doesn't want to step the line between me he's so called 'young lady' and him my so called 'bodyguard'. I am not that sensitive, actually he can treat me casually because he's really like a father to me.

I remember, when I was five years old and my mother already enrolled me to ballet school abroad. During my rehearsal Mom was not there because she's the Prima Ballerina in the Zeneca Ballet, and Gordon is the only person who was there together with my Yaya Adelphi.

"Mr. Santorini" He mutter surprisingly. I turn my head to look at him and he's still seriously looking at the road.

I blink my eyes and nod my head pulling my legs up on the chair "Yes, that mysterious man" I whisper and gaze back outside the car window.

"You need to stay away from him Young Lady" he said and I raised my hand giving him a thumbs up.

"Definitely right. Don't worry, I am scared with him too" I agreed resting my chin on my knees still eating the ice cream "But he said something to me a while ago " I murmured

Sighing I lost in my own thoughts while looking outside the car window hugging my legs. I hope he's really lying.

"Your father, do you think you can stop him?" Gordon ask curiously which is really surprising.

He rarely ask questions regarding our family issues.

With my narrowed eyes I glance back to him "Stop him to?" I inquire

He look at me in the rear view mirror and he turn his haze back to the road.

"The sponsorship he wanted from Santorini" he stated in the matter of fact tone.

Silence envelope us when I can't find a words to say, because honestly although I am his daughter I can't disapprove nor disagree with him. I bit my lower lip and fisted my head as I remember what Vicenezo Santorini said.

'He gave you to me in exchange of the sponsorship'

'-your father just sold you to me a while ago'

'You are my promise bride flower'

I frustratingly shake my head. No! Dad won't do that to me. That Santorini is just messing around, he just wanted to fool me and make fun of me. Dad maybe so desperate to have their sponsorship but I'm sure that he won't do something like what Santorini said.

"I believe Daddy. I have a faith on him..." I voice out and smile while looking outside  the window

It was a long ride before I saw the familiar steel gate of our house. I unbuckle my seatbelt and immediately open the car door as it stop. I glance around for a while to find Yaya Adelphi but then I guess she's not here, probably Aliah tagged her along to make her a chaperone tsk.

I walk upstairs and go straight to my room, instantly I remove my clothes and lay down on my bed. I shut my eyes feeling lethargic all of a sudden, too much happening for this day. I reach the pillow beside me and buried my face on it letting myself drifted into sleep.

HOURS LATER...

I open my eyes when I heard a loud thud sound followed by a sound of broken glass.

What was that?

I search the black wall clock in my room to check the time, frowning I slowly get up on my bed slightly shiver when the wind blows. The two sliding door in the balcony is open, causing the curtains to sway following the direction of the wind. Realization hits me, I'm just wearing my undergarments.

I mentally slap my forehead and get up walking towards the closet to find something comfortable to wear.

It's already 9: 08 in the evening so I decided to just wear a floral silk night dress. I didn't notice the time, I slept for about 8 hours that's why my back is giving me a discomfort feeling.

I grab my night robe and decided to close the open sliding door because the night breeze is too cold for me, but before I could do that I heard another sound of broken glass. My forehead creased as I walk fast towards the door. I immediately grab the doorknob and open it but the hallway is silent. No walking footsteps nor creepy sound of the wind.

"Am I hallucinating? " I whisper to myself and was about to close my door when a loud slammed on the floor echo that startled me.

Feeling alarmed and at the same time afraid I walk fast downstairs, but to my surprise I saw my father and Mommy Adeline in the living room making my forehead creased.

I take a step closer but stop mid air and my eyes widened as I saw a blood on the floor.
