Katherine walked out of the building with Rita by her side, she was wearing a red dress, the one her mother bought for her, it was beautiful but plain, staring at it, you would know a lot of fortune was spent to get it.
Katherine had decided to wear this dress today because she wanted her mother to be with her, she wanted to be rescued from this marriage even if it felt impossible right now, but wearing this dress meant a part of her mother was next to her.
Immediately they stepped out of the building, the driver who was waiting in the car stepped down and opened the door to the back seat.
Rita stood behind Katherine, making sure she didn’t run away. “Get in.” She told Katherine to go before her, she loved this luxury for her daughter, but the thought of the groom being deformed was messing with her mind.
Katherine got into the car, she was used to people opening doors for her, her father’s driver was a very kind man, but he also died along with her parents in the crash, it was too heart wrecking to think.
She knew she was yet to go visit his family, her father had lost everything and there was not even one bit of fortune to give them, they must hate her, hate her father for taking the life of their father and husband.
Rita got into the car with her and the driver shut the door turning to the driver’s side of the car. “Put on your seatbelt and stop spacing!” Rita scolded Katherine was still in thoughts.
Katherine blinked, she slowly fastened her seatbelt and the driver started the car and drove off, while Rita adjusted comfortably on the chair.
“When is the young master returning?” Rita asked the driver who was focusing on the road, he glanced at her through the rearview mirror and Katherine wondered who she was asking about.
Is this about the groom? Katherine glanced at Rita and then at the driver, she also has lot of interest, to know who he was, no one has even mentioned his name, she had just been thrown into what she had no idea about.
“That hasn’t been disclosed yet.” The driver answered simply and Rita exhaled sharply, disappointed that she didn’t get the answer to her question.
The wedding is next week and the groom isn’t back Katherine’s forehead creased and she pressed her lips together. Does he even exist?
Katherine felt a harsh cold spread through her body, she had seen movies where the bride is married to a dead person, or some ghost of wealthy men and now a shiver ran down her spine at the thoughts of that.
She was curious, very curious to know more about this man, she wanted to know if she would take Celeb’s joking suggestion and flee, but if she does, where would she go?
“Would he show up for the wedding?” Rita quickly asked and Katherine paid attention to hear what response the driver would give, she was glad that the questions lurking in Rita’s heart were the same as the one in hers.
“That information is also disclosed.” The driver said and Katherine’s face burned in frustration, she had lots of questions that needed to be filled with answers, but this driver wasn’t giving any.
She knew her father’s driver didn’t have all the information whenever she asked him, but at the very least, he filled her in on the little he knew, he had told her where her parents were making plans to take her on her sixteenth birthday.
She had remembered begging him for a little tip and he told her he had overheard them when they spoke about it in the car, and she was so excited about the clue, but now this man was withholding important information and it was killing her.
“Can’t you just tell me the little you know?” Rita pressed on, she seemed more curious about this than Katherine, if she knew who the groom was, any information at all about the groom, and if it were something great than riches, then she would make Vivian get married instead of Katherine.
“How about the groom, your bosses son, do you know who he is? Have you seen his pictures? Is he deformed? Can he walk? Does he have an illness? Is he ugly?” She bombarded the driver with questions, questions Katherine was also curious to know.
“I am sorry, I can’t give you any information about that, I am newly hired and my only duty is to carry the bride to be to wherever destination she chooses.” The driver told her seeing how she was trying to get little information from him.
Rita groaned softly. “You should have said that from the start.” Rita leaned back on her seat and glanced at Katherine, then she furrowed her brows, her eyes darkened. “You better not mess this up, if you do, you would have to pay miserably for it!” She said with clench teeth.
Katherine swallowed hard and lowered her gaze, she knew what a threat was and this was definitely a threat, she doesn’t owe this lady anything and running away, fleeing from all these crazy things seem to be the best thing to be.
She closed her eyes and recalled the promise she had made at her father’s grave. She had promised to be with her father’s friend, to be obedient to them and to make them happy, but this wasn’t what she had expected.
Katherine glanced out of the car window, tears clustered in her eyes, tears she was hiding from Rita. Dad, I want to take back my promise to you.
She swallowed hard to send back the sob down her throat, she knew she had to be strong, she had lost everything, she wanted a hand to hold, but right now, there seem to be none.
She raised her eyes to hold back the tears, if only she has all the information, if only there were more to tell her, she should have prepared for what was coming, but there was nothing, just curiosity and blank lines.
I never pictured my life like this. She closed her eyes and the tears she was holding back rolled down her cheek slowly.
The driver pulled over at the parking lot of the large building, Katherine glanced out of the window and drew a sharp breath as she saw the large name on the boutique, it was the place she had told her mother she would want her wedding dress made.Harfort boutique! She shut her eyes as she said the name in her head.Still recalling how she had told her mother everything on how she wants her wedding dress to be like, she recalled her mother had said the dresses at this place were so expensive, but Katherine had argued with her.‘Mom, we have lots of money, what else are we lacking?’Katherine tried to push those thoughts out of her mind, her parents were no longer alive, all the happiness to pick out a wedding dress was no longer in her heart, she was so sad and now she despise this place. They were wealthy, she could marry a commoner, her best friend or any man who she cast her eyes on and fall in love with, but as long as her dress was made here, she was going to be so happy showing
The curtains were pulled open and Katherine glanced up at the person sitting on the chair. Rita glanced at her, her lips parted and all she could picture was Vivian in that dress. This should be her daughter's moment, and it should be her daughter in this dress if only the man who was going to marry her was in better form. Why else would they hide a handsome man?She shook the thoughts out of her head, all she knew was there was a lot of fortune spent on this wedding dress and if it was sold, it would fetch her family tons of money. She drew a sharp breath and got to her feet. "What are you doing?" She asked Katherine who raised the corner of her brows confused at her question.Rita swept her with a cold gaze. "I am not the groom, so go take off the dress if it suits you perfectly, and hurry up because we have other places to go." She scolded and Katherine pressed her lips together."I will be waiting for you in the car." She finished and without another glance at Katherine, she walke
Her breathing shook, although Rita didn't respond to her question, she had already figured the answer to the question she asked Rita. This must be the groom’s parent mansion. A place she was going to be sent to, how could they be so careless and chose a bride this way when they are so wealthy and should choose the bride from another great wealthy family?"I will lead the way." The driver told them and started heading forward and Rita and Katherine followed behind.Rita stared at each placed in admiration while Katherine tried her best to recognize the placed they walked past, if one wasn't careful, they may get lost out here. The driver stopped at the entrance of a large glass door and Rita and Katherine stopped behind him and waited."Aren't we going in?" Rita asked seeing the driver wasn't taking any more step further."My tour stops here, someone would come get you two shortly." He told Katherine and Rita, and Rita shook her head understanding what he meant.'Not anyone could go in
All through their journey back home, Rita was silent. They arrived at their apartment and glancing at the small building after the huge one they had come from, Rita sighed. She walked into the building and Katherine followed behind."How was it, mom?" Vivian who was coming out from the kitchen with an apple in her hand asked her mother as soon as she saw her walk into the living room.Rita glanced at her and drew a sharp breath. "I need to have a talk with you, come over to my room." She told Vivian and walked slowly towards her room.Vivian pout her lips, she glanced at Katherine. "Did you make my mother look that way?" She furrowed her brows.Katherine was also weak to face Vivian, she just wanted to go into her room and rest, today, and she had felt like she was auctioned off for a hundred million dollars.Katherine didn't respond to her, rather she headed upstairs and Vivian scoffed before walking to her mother's room."Mom," She called out as she pushed the door open and immediat
Vivian rushed into her room, drawing out a box from the top of her wardrobe in tears and placed the box on the bed, walking back to her wardrobe, she grabbed as many clothes as her hands could carry, she stuffed them in the box, sniffling, she closed the box.Her father had signed a contract to send her off for a marriage she didn't want. Her brother had not supported her or protested on her behalf, but rather he had supported their father. Her mother was the only one who stood by her side, who protested and fought for her, but now she had suddenly changed. It was hurting, no one in this family wanted her here, and no one in the family was on her side, putting the box down, she decided It was better to run away, perhaps after this whole marriage was settled, she would be back. She grabbed her black leather jacket and wore it over her shoulder. She took one glance at the mirror before pulling her shoes out of the shoe cabinet, putting them on her leg, she grabbed her box and rolled it
Katherine had heard some sound outside her room, but she had no energy to go out, she was too tired with everything to go check what the new issue was, it fight was too much.Ever since she arrived at this place, it wasn’t even up to a week, but they have had lots of fighting and lots of arguments that she never experienced in her father’s house. No one wanted to listen, no one wanted to speak the whole truth to her, she was helpless and alone. She pulled out her coat and put them over her shoulder, picking up her bag, she walked out of the room.Hearing the door sound from his room, Celeb rushed out. "Katherine, you are back." He softly said. She turned her eyes at him and paused, she had no words to say to him, he had assured her this morning that he would go talk to his mother, but had not returned with any news.If he had, then she should have tried his suggestion, whatever the news was, but she shook her head. How can he try to convince his mother? She knew Rita wasn't a lady you
Vivian arrived at the entrance of Marcus apartment, knowing his home password, she inputted it and pushed it open."Vivian!" Marcus called out in excitement when he heard his door open from inside, she was after all the only lady that knew his password."I didn't know you were coming." He said when she saw her step in, but paused when he noticed the box she rolled in. "Baby..." His lips parted and ge glanced up at her face.Vivian broke down in tears. "Marcus, I ran away from home." She started sobbing, tears rolling down her cheek and Marcus slowly walked towards her."Baby, why are you crying?" A worried line appeared on his brows. "Why did you run away from home?" The corner of his brows were slightly raised.Vivian left her box and rushed into his arms, resting her forehead on his chest she continue sobbing."I left on my own, everyone there hate me, ever since that girl arrived at our home there had been no peace." Her voice was hoarse."What girl? Please stop crying and exhaled
Celeb pulled over when they got to their destination, and he glanced at Katherine who was still asleep on the passenger's side of the car before glancing into the darkness, it was the first time he had been away from home this late.It was past midnight when they arrived due to a little traffic and stopping for gas. Should I wake her up? He thought in his head as he gazed at her.She looked so tired. All through the drive, she had only opened her eyes twice and glanced up to check if they had arrived, but when they haven't, she would close her eyes again. Nah, I should let her sleep. He decided and took out his cell phone, and he turned it on, he glanced at his screen to see seven missed calls from his mother.I would be in trouble when I get home tomorrow. He pressed down his lips feeling goose bumps just thinking of how much his mother would scold him.He shook the thoughts out of his head and tucked his phone into his trouser pocket. "I am no longer a teenager." He drew a sharp br
