Chapter 6

Katherine walked into the apartment with Celeb behind her, she heard the commotion in the house and wondered if all the shouting was because of her again.

She was still processing those thoughts when suddenly Rita walked up to her and spoke the words that shocked her.

“Huh?” Katherine didn’t understand what Rita meant, the words had been dropped like a time bomb and she didn’t have much time to process it as it all sounded strange.

“You are not wanted in this house, so we are marrying you off!” Rita repeated to her and Katherine glanced at Mr. Jonas who looked at his wife, he had not also expected her to say that to Katherine.

“And that is final.” She said and walked away.

“Rita!” Jonas called out and turned to follow her, but he stopped and turned to the confused Katherine. “Don’t think about any of what she has said,” he said quickly and glanced at Celeb.

“Take her to her room.” He said and turned to follow his wife, but his eyes fell on Vivian, he saw her smirk and sighed, saying nothing, he went after his wife.

Celeb walked over to Katherine. “You should ignore what my mother said, she is just in one of those crappy mood---“

“Don’t lie to her.” Vivian didn’t wait for him to finish before cutting in and both Celeb and Katherine glanced over at her, they had only noticed her now.

“Stay away from her loser!” Celeb shunned her and turned to speak to Katherine but Vivian couldn’t shut up.

“No, she is the one who should stay away, that’s why mom is marrying her off!” Vivian shrugged, using her index finger, she touched her curls, her lips moved since she was chewing a bubble gum.

“You know that should be your place, stop making everyone suffer because of you!” Celeb shouted at her and Vivian yelled back, but Katherine watched them perplexed.

She had no idea why they were saying that to her, marriage was the last thing she had in mind now, she had also just lost her parents and finished mourning a few days ago, they were all giving her headache with all these drama since she arrived here.

“Do you even care to try act like a man and stop your sister from being sold off!” Vivian yelled back, a throbbing vein appeared in her neck.

“I don’t care if you leave, loser, you are just a troublesome grumpy person, and you should try stopping dad yourself, than making someone who just lost her parents to be your replace bride!” Celeb retorted.

Vivian scoffed. “I guess you also prefer having her as your sister than having me.” She pointed at Katherine like she was a fly. “Well she is not, and she is not related to you either, so stop acting like you both are buddies!” She clenched her jaw.

“I am going to my room.” Katherine was tired of hearing their bickering, her heart was heavy, most words weren’t said directly to her, but it stabbed her in the heart to hear them speak this way, she was hurt and no one cares.

“Katherine.” Celeb called out softly, but she flashed him a smile and made her way to the stairs.

“Well, you should go get lots of rest, you have an appointment with a stylist tomorrow to try out your wedding dress.” Vivian said with a smile and Celeb cast her a glare. “You would look so lovely.” Vivian added sarcastically.

“Stop being sarcastic, you are the worst!” He told her and shook his head, his sister has no hope, her heart was too dark for him to be around her energy and he always ignores her.

“I’m just wishing her well.” Vivian grinned and shrugged.

Celeb scoffed, he parted his lips to say something to her, but closed his lips again and walked away, better to ignore her as she doesn’t seem matured yet.

Vivian watched them all leave and the living room fell silent, she hummed in her head and walked over to the kitchen to grab something to eat, but her cell phone rang in her bag, she glanced at it with a smile on her face when she saw the name that flashed through the screen.

“Hey, baby!” She called out in a happy voice.

“Hey, you, I am outside your family’s building,” A deep voice told her from the other side of the line and she abandoned everything she was about to do and rushed over to the front window and peered out to see the manly figure that waved at her.

“Hey, what are you doing out there?” She asked through the phone.

“I am feeling bored and want to hang out with my baby girl, now don’t tell me you are busy?” He said in a cute voice that brought smiles to her face. “I am waiting with the car.” He showed her the keys on his finger.

“Give me a minute, I’ll go look hot for you and return.” She winked at him and ended the call before running upstairs in haste.

Vivian got upstairs to see Celeb pacing around at the entrance of Katherine’s room door, she scoffed. “Are you her lover or something?” Her voice made him look at her and Celeb glance at her.

“Aren’t you heading out, I saw your boyfriend’s car parked outside, please leave.” He told her pointing downstairs.

Vivian rolled her eyes and walked into her room ignoring him, Celeb turned his eyes back to Katherine’s door, he reached for the doorknob, but hesitated, slowly he shook his head deciding not to disturb her, he let go of the door and walked away to his room.

Katherine took out her parents picture from her bag and glanced at it, she slowly caressed the handsome face of her father and then the pretty lady that stood beside him.

“Mom, Dad, I miss you both so much.” Tears rolled down her cheek and slowly she embraced the picture and sniffled. “You didn’t have to die, you didn’t deserve to die, why did you both leave me here?”

Tears streamed down her cheek as she shut her eyes thinking back at all the memories she shared with her parents, she knew things was never going to be the same as they were, but what she didn’t know was she was going to be forced to marry a man that she knows nothing about.
